Questions / Re: Workflow for reconciling re-ripped tracks
« on: April 01, 2023, 03:14:05 PM »
You understood it. The problem was my workflow (getting new tags for new rips of existing albums) made it messier than it need be, requiring more decisions to be made.

I like your flow, except I'm not necessarily happy with the old tags and album art so I think I can look as my approach as an opportunity to update tags and album art as I go.

Thank you for the reply.

Questions / Workflow for reconciling re-ripped tracks
« on: April 01, 2023, 01:42:56 AM »
I'm in the process of re-ripping my CDs as FLAC and am stumbling a bit on the best path to manage removal of the MP3 tracks from MB db. My current workflow is:
Rip to Inbox
Send to Folder ->Move (organized)

Sometimes due to changes in tagging that occur with the new rips, I'll get two copies of the album in my MB db. If they get put in the same album then there are both the MP3 and the FLAC version in that album.

If two album copies occur, I can easily delete it from the computer node. It seems to delete the actual files from the windows file system as well.
If I get duplicates in the same album, I can use the computer node view, drill into the album, sort by ext and then delete.

Am I missing an easier way?

None of my other MusicBee installs on 2 different computers had issues accessing the network share. I poked around, looked at the FAQ, and ultimately ended up uninstalling MusicBee on the problem PC and re-installing it as portable. Not saying the portable installation fixed it, I just selected portable as it puts all the settings together.

I was hoping for a less brute force resolution, but its done.

I think the origin of the issue came from my deletion of a previous network share on the server that had the music files. When I recreated the music file share on the server the server assigned it the same drive letter as the old one. I think this confused MusicBee.

I've moved my music files to a new server recently and have just now tried to set up Musicbee on my desktop to point to the new location. When I launch the Re-link music file paths... function and try to select the new server I get a remote procedure call failure as shown below.

I can access the server via windows explorer, and on my cell phone. I can access other shared drives on different servers via the Re-link music file paths... and can move through their folder structures without error. The RPC failure occurs when I select the new file server. I don't even get a chance to select a folder.

I can launch VLC and browse to the new server and watch videos without error.

Any tips or suggestions on how to fix this?

I also get this error when trying to add files to the library

I just installed latest musicbee on windows 10 laptop and it has no issues finding the new server and the music files. I think there's something borked with my install on my desktop PC.

I'm currently on 3.4.7805 but this also occurred on the previous release.

In my reply #52 above, all I did was follow the installation and setup instructions in the referenced readme file at the GitHub repository.  If you've followed the readme, post back and I suspect more knowledgeable members will chime in on how to troubleshoot.

I'm having trouble getting this running - the Chromecast is connected and the server is started but I don't get the track information:

<image snipped>

...and no audio, of course.  I could ultimately live without the display.

When the track changes everything shows up for about a quarter of a second before it bounces back to this.  If I go to the URL in a web browser I get a 503 "Service Unavailable" error.  I'm guessing it might be a firewall issue but I'm not quite sure where to start looking.  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you read thru the readme file on GitHub?

Questions / Audio files moved to new network share
« on: April 09, 2021, 02:57:04 AM »

I've moved my audio files to a new network share and am struggling to get MusicBee to be happy. I've changed the monitored folders to the new share and scan folders for new files to the new share but its not working.

When I scanned the new share, I get all my music in the inbox as duplicates (per my settings). Now how do I reconcile this?

Plugins / Re: MusicBee Remote (Remote Control for Android)
« on: April 06, 2021, 06:15:04 PM »
I've only just started using the MusicBee Remote but am very pleased so far. The only issues I've encountered are:

Output options: I see the expected Primary Sound Driver, Headset, and Speakers, but also my Denon (Heos equipped) AVR, and my HEOS speaker. But not only a single instance of each but a seemingly ever growing list of these devices. I tried to use them as output but it wouldn't work.

Is the app intended to show these types of devices as output options?

Feedback: when I tried to send feedback for the above, the app would force close when I had logging enabled and checked the "include logs" box.

I understand this is not your full time job, and appreciate the work you've put into it. Let me know if I can help troubleshoot the above on my phone any further for you.

Questions / Help needed with CD ripping workflow
« on: January 21, 2018, 05:23:02 PM »
Hi all,

I'm truly amazed at the flexibility and power in MB. I do need some assistance in figuring out an efficient CD ripping workflow for my situation.

I have my audio files stored on a network file server and MB installed on my PC on the same LAN. My desired work flow is:

1 - Rip CD to Inbox (located on PC for ripping speed)
2 - Verify/update tags as needed
3 - Move to Library
4 - Move to network file server with folder structure (I don't want a huge list of intermixed songs from various albums)

Steps 1, 2, and 3 are easily done. Step 4 is the one I can't figure out. I think using organize files is the right way but I can't figure out how to configure it correctly.

Also, what is the difference between moving to folder and moving to organized folder?

thanks for your help,
