Skins / How to make Panel Borders Transparent @ MB 3.2 when unsing Background Image ?

Hi There,

could someone give me a hint if and how it's possible to get transparent panel borders?
Which element(s) are needed to be edit in the xml-skinns?

The borders are currently just less visible above the background image in my configuration, but i really would like getting rid of them.

Questions / How to change Font Size for "Album Count" ?

Hi There,

I wonder how I could change the font size for "Album Count" which is displayed below the Artist pictures when albums are grouped by artist. Perhaps it's a bug in case the font size for that item couldn't be adjusted explicitly.

MB Version: 3.2.6575

MusicBee Wishlist / Big Covers for Radio Station List

Hi there,

I wonder why it isn't possible to setup the radio station list with big covers - like at the album view.
It would be wonderfull to see a change for that.

Furthermore it would help to get a more consistent GUI for MB In my eyes.

How do you think?

Bug Reports / Scrolling at Radio Station list seems to fast

Hi There,

I recognized at little strange but also annoying behave of the scroll speed in the Radio Station list.
If I scrolling there 6 lines will be scrolled by one wheel tic.
In comparison - album view scrolls only 1 line of cover per one wheel tic.

MB Version 3.2.6575

Why do I have a problem whit that ...
- In my layout I only have 4 Lines with big station covers, during scroll 2 stations/lines are skipped always and only can be shown by using the scroll-bar  
- It's inconsistent somehow   - at least if covers are displayed in the station list

would be great if that could be fixed.

MusicBee Wishlist / Ugrade Skip Buttons & Hotkeys with (Retro-) SEEK/SEARCH functionality

Many (compact) CD audio players offer combined keys for seek (search) forward/backward and skip to next/previous track.

- pressing them short will jump to next/previous track instantly
- pressing longer than ~1 sec will start to speed-up the the playback and increasing the speed as longer the button keep holding down
- release the skip/seek(search) button will continue normal playback

In case of nobody can understand what I mean - just remember your old Discman and have look here ...

It would be awesome if this functionality could be provided at least in the MB hotkey list and optional for the skip buttons on the MB GUI too.
It would allow to seek (search/scan) and skipping tracks with the SAME skip-track mediakeys/hotkeys just by vary the hold down time.

Control SEEKING/SEARCHING via dedicated media keys on some keybords also would working perfectly therefore.


My understanding - and I would say it's common standard - of the seek/skip symbols is as follows:

  ◄◄ / ►►   dedicated seek backward / forward (MB uses this symbols for skipping - contrary to the "common standard")
   ▐◄ / ►▌    dedicated skip backward / forward
▐◄◄ / ►►▌ combined seek & skip backward / forward

So, once seeking is implemented in MB (optional via GUI controls) the GUI buttons  ◄◄  /  ►► than should change to this ▐◄◄  /  ►►▌ IMHO, but from my view most importantly would it be providing hotkeys for that functionality.

MusicBee Wishlist / Fully customizable "Player Controls" Panel

Hi There.

The MB Panels Configuration is a great thing to customize and arrange the overall GUI layout.
As far as it concerns the "Player Controls" panel, until now, there are almost no options for it.

What I just would like to suggest now is : a fully customizable "Player Controls" panel.

Under the "MB Panels Configuration" dialog window, there could be a sub configuration just for "player controls".
Following elements should be addable but also ARRANGEABLE:

- player control
- volume slider
- spectrum analyzer
- wavebar / track info
- tracktime
- rating
- tools (such as equalizer, repeat options, etc.)
... to be completed

Furthermore, I think it would be a nice feature to have following things:
- wavebar combined with current track info
- tiny and customable but speedy spectrum analyzer (like it was in WinAMP)
- context menu on each of the elements for additional options


To give some impressions of how it could look like ...

MusicBee Wishlist / visualizer can't show on screen >2 : implemented already

Hi there,

It isn't possible to setup MB so show the visualizer in full screen mode on screens with number higher than 2.

My screen setup consists  of 3 screens. Two Desktop LCDs and one TV over HDMI.
Desktop is expanded over all 3 screens, no display duplication is used.
The MB visualizer menu only offers "Show in Screen 1/2" but there is no "3".

Would be great if screens over 2 would become respected by MB.

Bug Reports / seamless playback of cue album-wrap

Hello there,

the problem I've experienced with MB v.3.0.6099 is already described in this old 2012 thread here ...

... but it seams to be still persistent.

I recognized that MB still seems to have some problem for seamless playback of CUE Sheet album warps.

The Problem:
CUE-sheet-tracks overlaps for about 1 second (end and begin of new track), even if the option [do not crossfade when playing albums] is enabled. By the way, cross-fade time was set to 5 seconds, but the overlap is much shorter (< 1s).
It works seamless if cross-fade is disabled completely.

So it seem to me that MB first of all is not recognizing cue sheets as an album.

Could this become checked please?

MusicBee Wishlist / Skinned Background / Wave Bar including Title (Example)

Hello there,

long time ago I already was asking if there is any possibility to create a skin with included full-sized background image like shown in the following mock-ups.
I still did not updated to version 3 so the screenshots are based on MB version 2.

Because I never create a MB skin by my own, I am not aware about if that what is shown below is possible in Version 3 now.
If not - it would be awesome if the developers would create a possibility to give us an option for such kind of skins ...

Furthermore I modified the Wave Bar that it's shown the current playing track title - currently it's impossible configure the layout like shown above.

Portable Devices / CUEsheet synchronization issues blows up storage

1. Synchronization of album wraps with .cue file doesn't work properly:

Problem:
100 MB .mp3 album wrap file with associated .cue sheet defines 10 tracks ...
ends up with 10 times 100 MB .mp3 file for each track!
So synchronization blows up the album to 1GB!

The album wrap file should not become unnecessarily copied to the device more than 1 time!
Would be great if there is an option under "on-the-fly conversation" to "split/convert .cue album warps" - or something like this.



2. Artwork storage option "copy to the same folder as the music file" doesn't work:
Problem:
cover file naming : "cover.jpg"
ends up with a file "cover.alb" in each folder with a size of  0 byte!


MB version 2.5.5542

I hope someone could check this out.

Plugins / Audio Ambient-Light/Visualization with Philips Hue Light System

Hello All,

actually I just would like to initiate a discussion about such a plug-in because I guess there does not exist something similar like this at the moment what could work with MusicBee.

I'm talking about a way to visualize music in some kind of ambient light in connection with the Philips Hue Light System.

For all who never heard about this before:
Philips offer a numerous set of LED RGB-Lamps which can be controlled over ZigBee wireless communication standard. Therefore they offer an accessory - the Hue-Bridge - to control the lamps via Ethernet from any device.

Philips published the API for that system since they made this to a kind of open standard in cooperation with other vendors of such kind devices.

Until now there exist plug-ins for Kodi(XBMC) and several apps for Android, Windows Mobile and IOS.

"Hue Disco" and "HueManiac" are some of these apps which allows to let the lamps blink in various colors and synchronized to the beat of music rhythms.

To get such kind of ambient light visualization working in connection with the Hue System, currently therefore you always have to use an app or the Kodi media center. In the former case, also the signal path is really wired and give additional latency:
{ Digital > Analog > Digital > WiFi > LAN > ZigBee Wireless (Hue-Bridge) > Hue Lamps } !!!

If there are people outside  who are interested in this topic and who could program such a plug-in for MusicBee - that would be awesome.
Just think about:  Music"BEE" meets Zig"BEE" :-)

Bug Reports / Playlist - Send to - Folder : only first track will processed

I use MB version 2.5.5524
there seems to be a a problem with the "send to" / "folder (copy)/(move)" context menu command when try applying it to a playlist.
When I do so, only one track (maybe the first) is copied and never the whole list!

MusicBee Wishlist / Button to add current song to "Pin-Board"

Hello all.

Many times I listen streaming radio, i wish i could catch the current song information and put it on a virtual "pin-board" just by pressing a small icon or button.
This "pin-board" could be just a list which can be open all time to recover the remembered tracks for further research.
Wouldn't that be great?

MusicBee Wishlist / Behave of multiple music library tabs

Hello All,

I would like to give you an hint regarding a inconvenient behave of multiple music library Tabs in MB.

I'm using at least two tabs which shoes the music library content.
Each tab is set to display the content in a different way:
  Tab 1: Albums by Title - shows Album art thumbnails
  Tab 2: Albums grouped by Artist - shows Artist thumbnails

Usually each tab stores this view settings, but here is the problem:
If Music in Navigation Bar is selected and the view in Tab 1 is defined (Albums by Title) MB stores the current configuration GLOBALLY.
If you switch to Tab 2 and select Music in Navigation Bar, the view setting "Albums grouped by Artist" becomes reset to "Albums by Title" - same as Tab 1.
So i have two Tabs but I'm unable to keep separate views in it while i click on Music in Navigation Bar.
This behave is really annoying.

Would be wonderful if this could be implemented.

MusicBee Wishlist / Control Wave Bar + Track Info

Hello,

I realy like to have the Wave-bar combined with Control-bar.
But i also like to have the classic track info text in the control bar.

Why not to give an option to display both?
The Text could be displayed as overlay. Mouse clicks on it always address the wave bar and jump to track position as before.

(by the way, font name is "V5 Prophit")

In my opinion the wave bar is a realy nice feature to quickly analyze the overall loudness in connection to the track position, but it's not so much important that it is necessary to need to recognize each single peak all the time. Therefore an classic Track Info overlay wouldn't be disturb.
But to waive on the classic Track Infos at that position in favor of the wave bar is a little bit unfair choice
