MB 3.3.7131

I was adding some rules to my auto organization setup to account for titles without track numbers or albums.

When I would go into the Pattern field to remove <Album> and replace it it "Unknown Album", a pop up would show with an error message like "Thread was being aborted" which could be clicked away and I could still continue to do what I needed.

I didn't seem to affect anything, so I don't know what couldn't complete.

Questions / Ripping with Accurate Stream
« on: December 05, 2018, 06:43:02 AM »
My DVD drive is supposed to support Accurate Stream for secure ripping, but MusicBee says it doesn't support it. EAC and other programs say it does though.

http://www.daefeatures.co.uk/search?model=SH-S183L&htoa=All&c2=All&caching=All&accurate_stream=All&manufacturer=0&overread=All

Is this a bug, or a limitation in MusicBee?

So I've got a 12k file library that I sync to a 128 GB microSD card. I've tried multiple ways to get it so that MusicBee only copies the relatives changes on each sync.

I initially copied the music directly to the SD card via Windows, so the modification times are correct. If I plug the card back into the computer, it will sync only the changes.

If I connect the device up via MTP, MusicBee sees the whole library as changed and tried to update the whole thing -- not what I want to do for that many files with MTP.

Is this a limitation of MTP's file attributes reading, or MusicBee just trying to copy all the files rather than checking the state of them via the attributes (i.e., this "device" is different than the previous "device" so sync everything)?

I'd rather do it wirelessly, but Windows native FTP doesn't support file modification time, and there are no functioning WebDAV servers for Android that do either.

I'm currently sharing my music library (the files, not the Musicbee Library) using Windows File Sharing. The permissions are set to Everyone can read/write.

If I add a file to the directly manually, Windows adds the correct permissions on that file, and everyone can view it on the network. However, if do a "Send to Library" on the local computer to add a new music file, those permissions are not setup, and no one on the network can see it. I have to re-enable sharing on the directory for windows to recurse through the tree and set those parameters.

Is there a way that MusicBee can get the correct parameters when it copes a file somewhere?

Portable Devices / MTP and Album Art Rename
« on: December 08, 2016, 07:19:06 PM »
When I connect my android phone using MTP, why is the option to rename the album art greyed out? I can pick the other options, just not the last one. I know it used to be possible. Any ideas?

I've tried other solutions for wireless syncing (WebDAV and FTP), but those change the modification time stamps, so MusicBee always thinks it needs to sync everything. I could use something like Syncthing, but that loses the ability to sync selectively by playlist directly from MusicBee.

Questions / Opus Decoder
« on: August 23, 2016, 02:41:36 AM »
I know that for the opus codec, MusicBee use to use the Bass Opus library (just like it does for many formats). However, I noticed it doesn't have that file anymore, and opus files still play for me.

What means is it using to play now? ffmpeg?

Questions / What happened to DI.fm and Sky.fm?
« on: October 22, 2014, 12:36:05 AM »
At some point in the past, I was able to list all the available stations directly in the radio search section (maybe it was under the old "internet" section?).

I had added some to my favorites, which are still there, but I wanted to go back and listen to some others, and couldn't find the list. Did it get removed at some point?

I know I can still hand add them, but it used to be very easy.

MusicBee Wishlist / Playlist Flag for Converting Format
« on: April 28, 2014, 06:06:57 AM »
I prefer to store my rips in FLACs just so they are archival quality. However, for most of my music, when I transfer to my media player, I care a little more about storage space rather than quality.

There is already an option to convert lossless files while synchronizing, and this is great.

However, I also have some meditation tracks that would be better left as FLAC. Would it be possible to get some sort of smart condition, or playlist exclusion mechanism so that generally music would get converted but it would leave out certain tracks?

Might be too complex, but it would be nice.

MusicBee Wishlist / Add Opus encoder to the available file converter codecs
« on: December 06, 2013, 09:48:59 PM »
MB can play opus, but it doesn't have the ability to convert to them. Plus, v1.1 was just released today.

Would be it be possible to add an Opus section to the Preferences > File Encoders?

Portable Devices / libgpod
« on: December 16, 2011, 07:31:01 PM »
I don't know how you're syncing to Apple devices, but since it seems that it won't work well going forward (iTunes 10.5+) at the moment, you might want to look into using libgpod if you aren't already.  This way, you can offload all of that work to this library, and they seem to keep it pretty up to date, as most/all Linux music players use it for syncing to Apple devices.

Of course, with it being GPL, you'd have to comply with those license requirements if you made any alterations.

Portable Devices / iPod Nano 3g syncs all songs, but not the playlists
« on: November 22, 2011, 09:09:23 PM »
I am syncing my nano 3g (on a fresh restore of it).  Since it's only 8 GB, I select which playlists I want to copy over.  This worked fin in 1.2.  However, on the new 1.3, it will sync the songs correctly, but the actual playlists don't get synced.  MB thinks it has synced all of the lists, but in reality, only like 7 out of 20 are showing up on the actual device.  All the music files are there though.
