Questions / Auto DJ repeating same tracks in Playlist...
« on: March 18, 2021, 04:09:33 PM »
Hi All

I'm trying to create an Auto DJ playlist, but Auto DJ keeps repeating the same tracks over and over again.

I have a small Jazz/Blues playlist made up of 76 tracks played by 8 different artists.

Settings are...

Initial List Size: 76 tracks
Selection Mode: Random by Track
Restrictions: Gap before same Artist repeats = 3
Conditional Filter: Last Played is not in the last 1 Day

The 76 Tracks created by the Auto DJ were made up of 54 separate tracks from the original playlist, with 19 of them repeating multiple times.

I want Auto DJ to play each track just once and not repeat them.

Is this possible?

I listen to all my music in shuffled playlists defined by music genre, with Shuffle set to the "Different Same artist preferred each track" option.

The problem is that it doesn't work very well, and I always end up with tracks from the same artist queued-up one after the other, which I then have to manually separate.

The worst case I've had so far was a Playlist of 338 tracks from 76 separate artists in which 12 tracks from the same artist were all grouped together, or another one where 8 or so tracks each from 2 separate artists alternated, one after the other, at the end of the list.

The "Gap before same artist can repeat" option in Auto DJ works great, and I would love to see it incorporated into the Shuffle functions.

Questions / Shuffle Playlist Track problems…
« on: March 14, 2021, 02:19:13 PM »
Hi All

I listen to all my music in Playlists, which I Shuffle: Shuffle with Different Artist Bias / Shuffle Tracks Individually.

In Preferences, Now Playing / Shuffle settings are set to Random.

The initial problem is that the Shuffle function would still clump tracks together from the same artist one after another in a Playlist containing, for instance, 338 tracks by 76 different artists.

In previous versions of MB I could go to the Upcoming Tracks list on the right and manually shift tracks around to break up the groupings, because the list showed all the tracks in the Playlist.

In the latest version, 3.4.7737, the Upcoming Tracks now only shows a maximum of 100 tracks, which means I can no longer manually sort the tracks.

Is there a way ‘round this?

Thanks

Questions / Transfer Playlists and Setting etc to new PC.
« on: February 14, 2020, 10:57:32 PM »
Hi All

I’m building a new Win10 PC and want to transfer all my playlists, settings, and the layout of MB itself, if possible, to the new PC.

My Music Library is stored on its own, non OS, drive.

Is there a tutorial on how to do this?

When I built my last system I installed the Music Library drive, then recreated the Playlists and MB Layout from scratch, a long and tedious process I would rather not have to repeat! LOL!

Thanking you in advance

Questions / Move music to new HD, keep playlists etc...
« on: December 01, 2018, 06:00:16 PM »
Hello All

I need to move my music files to a new, larger drive, but without losing my playlists.

I initially looked at the Send to / Folder (Move) command but that only seems to work on individual files, and not folders.

I copied my music to the new drive and assumed there would be a simple option to point MB at the new location, but if there is I can't find it.

My PC is Win7 Pro with the latest patches etc, my MB is v3.1.6950.

Hope you can help!

Hi All

I'm trying to permanently change the volume of my FLAC files instead of writing  Replaygain tags.

In the File Converter I check the "permanently adjust volume" box and click the "tracks to same volume" button but it's not working.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi All

I recently bought a Sony NW-A45 DAP which, unfortunately, does NOT work with the Replaygain tags in my FLAC files... Sony's own "normalizer" setting is pretty worthless.

When transferring the music/playlists to the Sony, checking the "Level Volume" box just writes the tags on the fly, it doesn't permanently alter the volume.

After trying a few other options I've decided the best thing to do is duplicate my entire library and permanently change the volume of the tracks to the Replaygain values, an option I think MB allows.

Does anyone know how to make an exact duplicate of my library; albums, tracks, playlists, metadata, layout etc? I really don't want to have to rebuild it from scratch.

Thanks!

Questions / Formatting Tags corrupted across entire music library...
« on: April 21, 2018, 07:46:57 PM »
Hello All

The Formatting Tags have become corrupted across my entire music library, but it's not consistent, as you can see from the two Mike Oldfield albums below.

And even where I have an album with just a single band name, such as "Air" below, because of the extra spaces that have appeared in the text fields, the Tag is still corrupted.

Needless to say, every album was manually tagged as it was entered, and was 100% correct. I discovered this when I was backing up my FLAC files and my backup software told me it was backing up the entire collection, instead of just the two new albums I had added.

Does anyone know what has happened here?

Thanks

Questions / Permanently "normalize" FLAC files for transfer to DAP?
« on: April 08, 2018, 11:08:35 PM »
Hello All

I recently bought a Sony NW-A45, but didn't realize it doesn't support Replaygain tags... a not unusual situation by all accounts; the player has its own "Dynamic Normalizer" setting but it's worthless.

I went to Edit/Preferences/Devices, highlighted the SD card, clicked Configure/Music and selected Synchronize All Music.

I then went to Settings, and here's where I'm not too sure about how things should be.

All my music files in MB are FLAC files with Track Level Replaygain tags and embedded Artwork, so I don't need to "convert" them, I just need to permanently adjust the volume for use in the DAP.

So, in the On-the-fly Conversion section I left the "Convert to" box unchecked.

I checked Level Volume/Tracks at same volume, as well as Embed Artwork in the music file.

Is this correct?

Also, is MB only permanently adjusting the volume of the files transferred to the DAP, and not the original files on my HD?

I know I'm not messing with Playlists as yet, I just want to get the track volume thing squared away first!  :)

Thanks

Questions / Analyze Volume / Replay Gain issues...
« on: April 04, 2018, 07:30:58 AM »
Hello All

I live in my various musical genre Playlists and play them Shuffled, so analyze the volume and adjust by Track.

But there are still some noticeable differences in the perceived volume of some of the tracks within the same Playlist when I'm listening.

I've seen Xmedia Recode, and Audio Normalizer by Solar Wind, recommended as highly accurate tools for volume normalizing.

Does anyone have any experience with these products, or can they recommend any others?

I'm on the latest version of MusicBee, 3.1.6590.

Thanks
Paul

MusicBee Wishlist / Multiple Playlist Memory...
« on: March 31, 2018, 01:28:41 AM »
Hi All

I live in my Playlists, playing them Shuffled, and LOVE the fact that MusicBee remembers the previous position of a List and picks-up right where it stopped!

But, if I move to another Playlist and listen to some tracks, then go back to the original List, I have to re-Shuffle / configure the List from scratch.

I wish there was a way for MusicBee to "remember" multiple Playlists!   :)

MusicBee Wishlist / Multi-disc Track Listing in Expanded Panel...
« on: September 18, 2017, 05:53:09 AM »
I'm new to MusicBee and loving it so far! I basically live in my Playlists and have them set to "Album Art” view, but have noticed a quirk in the way tracks are listed on multi-disc albums when you open the Expanded Panel.

Let’s assume I have a 2 disc album that's made up 2 long tracks, one on each disc.

When I apply the Disc-Track# rule to the information shown in the Expanded Panel it displays it like this...

1   Really Long Album Disc 1
     1.01

1   Really Long Album Disc 2
     2.01

To me it would make more sense, and it would be so much "cleaner," to display the information as...

1.01   Really Long Album Disc 1

2.01   Really Long Album Disc 2

I don’t know if this is an issue for anyone else, but MusicBee has such a clean, configurable, minimalist interface (it's one of the reasons I started using it after looking at foobar, JRiver etc.) I’d love to see this particular issue addressed.

Thanks for a fantastic product!

Questions / Multi-Disc Track Listings in "Album View..."
« on: September 16, 2017, 08:32:32 PM »
Hello All

I'm new to MusicBee and loving it so far! I basically live in my Playlists and have them set to "Album View," but have noticed a quirk in the way tracks are listed on multi-disc albums when you "open" the album.

On a 2 disc album tracks are displayed in the same format across both discs e.g. "1 Track One" etc on Disc 1, and "1 Track One" etc on Disc 2.

What would make more sense to me would be for tracks on disc one to be displayed as "1.1 Track One" etc, with the tracks on disc two displayed as "2.1 Track One" etc.

The information to do this seems to be available as there are fields for "Track X of X" and "Disc X of X" when we're tagging our music collections.

Is this possible and I've just missed a setting somewhere? As I said, I'm pretty new to MusicBee and am concentrating on importing/converting my collection to Flac.

Thanks
Paul

Questions / Unable to Convert formats...
« on: August 25, 2017, 03:39:38 AM »
Hello All

I've only just downloaded MusicBee and am unable to convert any files.

I imported a Wave file, clicked on it, went to Tools/Convert Format, and the only options I have in the Drop-down Menu are mp3 - which it can't do - and Wave!

I thought MusicBee contained a whole host of file converters... am I missing something?

Thanks
Paul
