Portable Devices / Re: Wifi android device synching
« on: September 21, 2022, 08:52:52 PM »
@BoringName- since a number of users have found and used your suggestion for getting syncing to work with Android 12 and 13, I'd like to suggest you put together a 'how to' in the Tips & Tricks section. This should help folks who are getting updated devices to find the 'fix' more easily than going through this entire thread.

You might also consider adding it to the Wiki. If you have questions or need help with the Wiki, I suggest reaching out to psychoadept, who is very familiar with it.

Thanks.
I don't know if it is possible or not for Steven, but hosting BoringName's apk somewhere and link it in the forum and/or in the wiki would much easier for everybody I believe.

Edit: Or I can provide the APK I built, this not a problem at all.

Hi,

I was confused indeed.  I did set a folder "#Playlists" under "Music", changed the playlists path to "/Music/#Playlists" in the windows app, deleted all the playlists in "/gmmp/playlists", scanned the phone storage with GMMP, and it seems to work all fine.

Thanks a lot for everything  :D  :D  :D  :D

Hi,

If I select my music folder it doesn't work. I'm facing the issue where the app is looking for gmmp playlists' folder:
Quote
2022-09-19: Pixel 4a;  13;  2.2
14:04:29: locate: search=192.168.1., exclude=192.168.1.101
14:04:29: ping: socket ok=/192.168.1.100
14:04:29: ping: hello=MusicBeeWifiSyncServer/1.0
14:04:29: ping: matched=/192.168.1.100,status=OK
14:04:30: ping: socket ok=/192.168.1.100
14:04:30: ping: hello=MusicBeeWifiSyncServer/1.0
14:04:30: ping: matched=/192.168.1.100,status=OK
14:04:54: sendPlaylists: java.lang.SecurityException: Document primary:gmmp/playlists/ is not a descendant of primary:Music
14:04:55: getFiles: java.lang.SecurityException: Document primary:gmmp/playlists/ is not a descendant of primary:Music: path=gmmp/playlists/

But again, according to my settings in Musicbee desktop app that you can see just above, I guess I should select the root folder on my phone but this is not possible anymore:

Then, the android app should look into "*/Music" folder as stated in the desktop app, and selecting the player "GoneMad" tells the android app to look into "*/gmmp/playlists"

Do you think it is a new security restriction from Android 13? How do people using GMMP do?

Many thanks

Hi,

So BoringName's workaround did the trick, thanks a lot for your work!

Nevertheless, I'm facing another issue regarding the files paths I don't recall to ever had. The only memory troubling me is I recall selecting the main internal storage while setting up MBWifi while I had to select the folder "gmmp" this time. I might be totally wrong though. As a matter of fact, my folder "Music" is not a descendant of the folder "gmmp", but it used to work.

If someone is willing to look into it it would be very much appreciated. Please find below the errors and my conf:

Hi, and thanks again for all your replies.

App permissions wasn't an issue so far, they hadn't changed and they were all set up.

I did try to wipe the cache: no success. Then, I tried to wipe the data, and it did what I was expecting based on your last comments: Server is found, but I'm now facing the Android 12+ issue regarding the storage access. @roth377: wiping data must remove and "change" your permissions. Also, you should be able to check in the app system infos if you installed it from the playstore or not. I'd bet this is not the case.

I will now have a deeper look into BoringName custom apk and let you know.

Cheers.

Thanks for your replies guys.

The huawei 5577 definitely allows local network set up. I went in the configuration and you were right there was a firewall activated. Unfortunately, deactivating it doesn't change anything.

Using my phone as the hotspot offers less possibility. I've tried it but it doesn't work and even Musicbee Remote stops working. Is it something that actually worked? I'm happy to give it a better try if this is someone's working set up.

@roth377: I'll try to clear data/cache after a force stop on the android app. Bur prior to this, could you tell me if you use your own apk as suggested by BoringName or if you're still on the playstore version? Also, do you have to clean the android app every time you want to use it or one time was enough?

Many thanks,
Adrien.

Yes, for all the reasons mentioned I don't believe Android 13 is an issue at this stage.

Unfortunately there is no firewall or anything like this on the router, it is a very very basic 4G device.

Thanks anyway for the reply!

Portable Devices / MB Wifi Sync issue: "Server not found"
« on: August 29, 2022, 03:25:52 PM »
Hi,

MB Wifi Sync used to work for 2 years now on a Pixel 4a. I moved to android 11 and then android 12 smoothly, without having to follow BoringName's guideline and compile my own apk.

Wifi Sync doesn't work since I've changed my local network with a new wifi router (Huawei E5577). I've also updated to Android 13 in between, without trying to wireless sync on my old local network. I don't believe Android 13 is an issue at this stage though because I'm facing the error message "Server not found. Ensure MusicBee is running and Windows firewall is not blocking MusicBee".

I've tried many different thing and I'm now running out of idea. Please find below what I've checked so far:
* MB is running
* Local network is set to "private network" and IP addresses are in range "192.168.1.*"
* Network discovery and file sharing are activated
* Public folder sharing and media streaming service are activated
* Sharing secured with password is deactivated
* I do have a connexion open listening on port 0.0.0.0:27304
(sorry for the poor translation, I'm using a french Windows 10)

It is very frustrating because MB Remote app works perfectly fine.

When using the net

I'm desperate and will consider any suggestion :)

Many thanks

Questions / Re: Different random functions not consistent?
« on: March 14, 2021, 08:36:03 PM »
Thanks for your reply, I didn't know about Playlist Mixer!

Nevertheless, I can't manage to make it do what I want, most probably because I don't use it properly. A little bit of help would be very much appreciated !!

"gap before same artist can repeat" doesn't seem to have any kind of effect.
I stuck to "play each criteria in sequence" as I have only one criteria where I source from the playlists I want and apply a fake rule "match any of the following rules: any filed has a value". I select the shuffle "different/same artist" but again it doesn't seem to have any kind of effect no matter where I set the slider.

And to try to explain in another way what might be a dysfunction in MusicBee, there are 3 different ways to shuffled a track selection that I know of:
     1) Shuffle On/Off (from the main player control panel)
     2) Shuffle List (from the playing tracks contextual menu)
     3) Play Shuffled (from the selection contextual menu)

The setting "different/same artist" only seems to have the appropriate effect on the "Play Shuffled" option (3). "Shuffle List" (2) always seems to behave like a basic random mode no matter the setting, whereas "Shuffle On/Off" (1) always seems to work as if it was set on "same artist" even if it's set on "different artist". If I use the setting "random" instead of "different/same artist" this Shuffle On/Off feature works as it should be though.

Also, when "Shuffle On" is activated in the main player with an already populated playing tracks list, we can "Queue random" from the contextual menu on any selection. But when I use this, the play order will actually go through the original playing tracks list in a random order before to play in the natural order the selection I've just "queued randomly".

I hope it makes more sense.

ps: now using 3.4.7735

Questions / Different random functions not consistent?
« on: March 13, 2021, 12:12:03 PM »
Hi,

I'm not sure that the different ways to randomise a playing tracks list are consistent, but I prefer to check before to claim a dysfonction.

If I set the "shuffle settings" in the "Now Playing" section of the Edit Preferences panel on "random", everything seems to work as it should be.
Nevertheless, if I set it on "different artist" instead, I note that the "shuffle on" mode available in the main player control panel seems to behave like it was set on "same artist" while using "Play Shuffled" from the context menu works as it should be.
On the other side, the "Shuffle List" function available in the playing tracks context menu always seems to behave like a basic random mode no matter the "different/same artist" setting.

Also, I'm surprised that when using "Queue random" on a selection from the context menu, the "shuffle on" mode will actually go through all the first selection in random mode before to play the 2nd "queued random" selection in natural order.

My final goal is to be able to mix different playlists and play the whole aggregated content in a "different artist" random mode.

At the moment, just being able to play them in a basic random mode require either to use the "Shuffle List" function or to "Queue Next/Last" the playlists and then use the "Shuffle On" mode.

Do you notice the same behavior and is it normal or am I missing anything?

Thanks!!

ps: using 3.4.7611

MusicBee Wishlist / Possibility to always start with specific settings
« on: January 23, 2021, 08:19:31 PM »
Hi,

There is apparently no work around yet to always start in "shuffle off" playback mode no matter if it was set in "Shuffle On" or "Auto-DJ" when closed (https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=34084.0).

So I was wondering if we could have an option to always start with specifics registered settings, maybe using the already existing "Settings snapshot" functionality?

Many thanks.

Hi,

I would like to always start MusicBee in "Shuffle Off", no matter if it was set in "Shuffle On" or "Auto-DJ" when closed.

I don't think there is any option for this, but I was thinking that maybe I could find a work around thanks to the Settings Snapshot. Is there any way to always load a Settings Snapshot when starting?

Many thanks,
Adrien.

Just did another try and it seems to work now. Maybe just a matter of delay to access discogs API.

Thanks!

« on: November 15, 2020, 04:56:21 PM »
Hi,

Installed the plugin correctly I believe, got the pin, no specific error and discogs is now available in the tags provider.

Nevertheless it doesn't seem to be able to retrieve anything. I've tried with only discogs as a tag provider and I can't manage to get any result in the Auto-Tag by album (either looking from a well tagged album or using the manual search)

Anyone has noted the same behavior?

Running MB 3.4.7611 and Discogs plugin 1.0.1

Many thanks,
Adrien.

Hi,

Just wanted to say thank you as the last update of the MusicBee Wifi Sync app on the beta channel solved all my reverse sync issues with playlists!
