I can handle my iPod Classic very well without installing iTunes. I only installed the necessary drivers with CopyTransDriversInstaller. Works great with MusicBee.

Try a new installation and a new empty library, then import the old library. MB suffers when he does not find his things where he expects them. Very good the previous advice to use the portable version.

eg.
xxxx.Icon.png
by default playlists are in:
C:\Users\<your id>\Music\MusicBee\Playlists
