Questions / New sub-genre tag?
« on: November 30, 2021, 06:31:00 PM »
I was reading about the latest updates and a sub-genre option was listed but I've updated to latest version and I do not see this option. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or am I just imagining this?

Questions / Reorganizing my music files
« on: November 30, 2021, 05:35:43 PM »
So I've just downloaded a long playlist (183 songs) to my computer and all the files are in a specific order in a file on my desktop as of right now. I've added all the songs to a playlist in MusicBee straight from my desktop without adding the files to my library for now. I like to keep my song files organized though and will be adding them to my MusicBee library by placing each song in a folder of each artist and what album the song is from. My problem is once I move those songs from desktop to library, the links are broken in my playlist so my question is what is the most efficient way to move that many songs to a different location as well as keeping the song files recognizable and in the same order, as the playlist I created, without having to manually add the songs back after I move to different location? Please and thank you.

Questions / Questions about album view and artist view
« on: April 04, 2020, 06:06:43 PM »
I love musicbee but I still am not familiar with everything it can  do and often feel frustrated and lost. I see that if you are in album and track view, you can set it up so if an album has less than 5 songs on it then it won't show up in that view. I'm wanting to know if the same can be done for artist view and album view? I have tons of songs that I like but might only have one song from one artist/album. I really don't want all these single songs showing up in the album view or artist view for that matter. So is there a way to not have artists or albums show up in these views if you only have one song from them? Please and thank you.

Questions / Moving MusicBee to another computer.
« on: March 27, 2020, 07:33:18 PM »
I saw that there was a portable version or something of MusicBee now. I'm just wanting to know if this is will allow me to transfer MusicBee from one computer to another and will save my MusicBee settings and the way the interface looks on the other computer as well as the tags I have assigned to all my songs? and how do I actually do the transfer? Please and thank you

I think it would be awesome if you could tag a song with a genre let's say of, blues rock, and have it show up in both genre categories of blues and rock when searching in the thumbnail browser. There's tons of genres that can easily belong to at least two different genre categories ex, americana could be folk and country or alternative dance could be electronic and rock. If there's already a way to solve this problem please someone tell me lol. Anyways, thanks Steven for making an awesome player and being so kind to actually listen to people and set up a 'wishlist' thread. I'm not that tech savvy when it comes to computer programs so it would probably help me if i actually understood all the ins and outs of musicbee but it does so much and I don't understand all this coding jazz yet with the filters and what not. I just wanna sort through my gobs of music lol

Questions / Making a genre map to two genre categories?
« on: January 13, 2019, 07:51:03 PM »
When you tag a song with a genre it maps it to a genre category but I have a genre that I want mapped to two genre categories and I don't see any tag option to actually let you choose what genre category a song belongs to. I see in edit preferences under tags (2) and you can categorize group genres. I am trying to get a song tagged with americana in the genre section to appear in the genre categories country and folk. I tried going to the preferences in the categorize group genres and adding americana to folk genre category as well and it says it's mapped to both folk and country but when I'm looking at genre categories in the left panel only country genre category appears for songs labeled americana. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Is there any way to manually add a song to a genre category without having to add a genre that mapped to that specific genre category you want?

Questions / Deleting the filepath to a library
« on: January 12, 2019, 09:33:31 PM »
Can someone please tell me how to delete a filepath to a library that you are no longer link to but still appears in File-->Library-->Open Library window? I decided I wanted my change the directory of my library so I just created a new library but now the old filepath still shows in that spot. I actually have two filepaths now that I don't want 'cause I tried to do something to get rid of it and just made another path I don't want.

Questions / What is the purpose of the grouping tag?
« on: January 12, 2019, 08:44:09 AM »
I'm just wondering if someone could tell me what the intention of the grouping tag is? I couldn't find anywhere what sort of information you're supposed to put in the field when you're editing a song and you see this grouping tag in the tag tab.

Questions / Musicbee icon not showing when pinned to taskbar on desktop
« on: January 11, 2019, 09:23:32 PM »
I downloaded the 3.3 version of Musicbee and I have it pinned to my taskbar on my desktop but it's not the bee icon it's just a blank page. However if you click on the little up arrow towards the right of the taskbar which displays hidden icons for programs that are running it the icon appears as it should. I've had an older version of musicbee on my laptop for a while and never had this problem. Is there any solution to this problem? Please and thank you

PS. I tried uninstalling and installing again but it's still not fixed although I did notice when pop-up messages appeared for the installation the bee icon was in the taskbar briefly so I'm really confused why it won't appear as the bee icon when I pin it :(

I have used Musicbee to organize my music library in a particular fashion with an in-depth tag system, using the genre and grouping tags frequently, among others. I'm wondering how I can transfer musicbee to another computer, while keeping my current settings? If someone can please assist me, I would really appreciate it!

Questions / Genre and Genre Category Columns
« on: November 26, 2016, 01:58:18 AM »
I really like some of the functions of this program but some things are confusing. Firstly, I can't directly click into the main panel and edit the tags such as genre and genre category. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if this is a glitch. It's not just those tags. It seems like it won't let me directly edit anything. If I right click on the tag I'm trying to edit and then hit edit it just pops open that box that appears in the bottom and then I must find the area I'm editing which I think is kind of a hassle. and Secondly, what my question was really about is that it won't let me put in my own genre category because it won't let me edit directly. For instance I want a song to have the genre of folk rock but I want the genre category to be Folk instead of rock but it always appears as rock on it's own in the genre category. Is there not a way I can edit these things directly because if not then I'm just gonna have to find something else to use.
