Questions / most 'robust' MB configuration?

Hello everyone, I would like to have some advice from expert users on robust MB configurations. I have been using MB portable for many years now. I keep all my music on an external HD, which also contains MB portable, and I move across Windows laptops. At times files get corrupted in the HD and I lose MB config/library/playlist settings. For the purpose of this post, let’s ignore what the cause of the file corruption may be (whether it depends on MB or other factors). I would like to explore what MB configuration may provide the best compromise between portability (all files stored on the same device) vs robustness (reducing the likelihood of losing config/library/playlist settings). I am considering these options
1)   MB portable + music file on an HD (what I use now)
2)   MB (not portable) installed on each laptop + MB config/library/playlist settings and music on external HD
3)   MB (not portable) and MB config/library/playlist settings installed on each laptop + music on external HD. (This would mean that I would have to move config/library/playlist settings between laptops manually, I suppose)
Additional info: I have ~1 terabyte of music which I group into 7-8 libraries
Any advice?

Questions / playlits disappearing

hello, i use MB 3.5.8442 P

recently some playlists have disappeared while others have been modified without my intervention (the songs in the playlist is different from what i included in the playlist). in one instance, this happened after MB crashed. Other times, i am not sure what may have caused it. would you have any suggestion?

also, i save the playlist in the library folder, inside the folder of a specific library ( as T:\MusicBee\Library\Rock\). is this a reasonable thing to do?

Questions / playing a song more than once in a playlist

hello everyone, i have a playlist (.m3u) in which a specific song (song0, say) is played more than once at specific locations in the play list. For example: 'song1, song0, song2, song3, song0, song4'. When i import it into MusicBee, only one instance of song0 shows, as 'song1, song0, song2, song3, song4' (i.e., the '2nd' song0 is missing).

does anyone know how to address this problem?

Questions / issue with rating in .m4a file

hello everyone, i am having a strange issue, which i hope i can describe it in a way which makes sense.

1) i have 2 MB portable installations in 2 different HD. i) HD1 has an 'old' MB version (3.0.5995) and ii) HD2 has a new MB version (3.5.8249 P). Both HDs have the same music files which I copied from HD1 to HD2.

2) some .m4a songs show their rating in the 'old' MB, but not in the 'new' one.

3) in Windows Explorer i cannot see the rating of these songs, either in HD1 or HD2

4) Tag&Rename also cannot see the rating either in HD1 or HD2

my first thought was that maybe i had forgotten to synchronize the tags in the 'old' MB before copying them across to the new HD, but i checked that now and that is not the issue.

any suggestion on what else i could check?

Questions / Desktop only seen in 'Send To -> Folder (Copy) -> Copy File to Folder'

hello everyone, i have a new laptop running Windows 11. I am using MusicBee Portable version 3.4.8033 P. When i try to copy some songs to the local 'C: drive (using 'Send To -> Folder (Copy) -> Copy File to Folder') i see only the Desktop and i am unable to choose any other folder.

I checked the forum and i found some advice about Folder Management and Showing all or Filtered Folders and Sub-folders. I tried that but it does not seem to help.

does anyone have any suggestion?

Questions / Musicbee stopped playing tracks

Hello, suddenly MB stopped playing any track. It gives the error "an unexpected error occurred. Type initializer for '#=zj6ro15_1frBi' threw an exception". I have read some previous posts on what appear to be similar issues, but 'bass.dll', 'bass_fx.dll' and others files with similar names are in the MusicBee folder.  would have any suggestion on what i should do next?

Questions / MB suddenly does not start - Portable version - windows 10.

hello everyone, i closed MB 1 hour ago and suddenly it does not restart. i tried 2 PCs. Rebooted several times. It was working perfectly on both PCs. Portable version, on Windows 10.

the error log says

hello, yesterday suddenly i open the portable version of MusicBee and i received this error message
music bee System.IO.EndOfStreamException: Unable to read beyond the end of the stream.

i then open the portable version on a different PC and it started working but an entire folder containing 7-6 playlists has disappeared. all other playlists are still there.

any idea what may have happened? any help?
