MusicBee Wishlist / Vertical tag editor
« on: October 17, 2016, 02:13:31 AM »
I think it would be a good option if the tag editor could be displayed vertically.

It could be docked at the left or right side of the main panel, or even better could be included as an element in the side panels, so that clicking on its tab the album or song tags will be shown.

This way is no longer needed separate the main tags into two tabs, and it would be easier to have a complete view using the vertical scroll bar.

With a collapsable horizontal division you could show or hide the different sections what are now tabs (artwork, lyrics, etc).

Also, i would like to choose which tags are displayed. There are several tags that I never use, and hiding them would make it easier to navigate through the panel.

I would also like to be able to reorder tags. Just an example: I use a custom tag for styles, and I would like to place it after the genre tag.

And a minor request: The save icon is a little "old". It could be changed?

PD: Sorry for my bad english.

It works perfectly.
Thank you very much, Steven. For me this is a great improvement  :)

I don't get the point. What would be different from using music explorer node?

Unless I have not been able to find these options, in the music explorer you can't use the thumbnails browser, and can't hide the column with the most played/rated songs.
(By the way, adding these options to the explorer would make me very happy  8) )

I do not intend to add the music explorer options (like artists, profile, etc.) to the main panel.

I propose to use only the aesthetics of music explorer (the bar and the photo of the artist, and maybe the genres and years) as an alternative to the photo of the artist that you propose. So I've used your mockup.

Or something like the top of the music explorer:

(Redwing, excuse me for using your mockup)

Working fine here.

If you have defined a custom tag for the type of album, in the library browser or in the main panel you can group the albums by that tag.

Sorry to say but after restarting MusicBee has appeared a new problem.
Now there is no error message, but the screen is a mess:

This is my configuration:

If "fit artwork to the size of the panel" is not checked, eveything is Ok.

Thanks.

Bug Reports / Error with Expanded Panel colors?
« on: June 20, 2016, 11:40:14 PM »
My layout is Artist View and expanded panel without automatic colors.

Since the last updated patch (3.0.6015), when I click on the artist and then in an album in the expanded panel, I get an error.
If I set the expanded panel with automaitc colors , the error disappears.
If I set off the colors again, I don't get the error but when I restart the program the error reappears.

I've done several tests and, without automatic colors, if the artist has only one album the error doesn't appear, nor if use enter to play the album.
It seems that the problem is related to the colors of the expanded panel and the mouse.

This is the error log:

Thanks.

I think it would be more useful if this panel was not used only to show the information about what is playing now.
I imagine it more as a kind of Music Explorer, but instead of using Xbox Music data, take inforrmaciĆ³n from the tags added in MusicBee.
This could be used as a "personal discogs".
Also, if it is not used as a theater mode could be avoided limitations.

I use the player on the side panel, and from there you can set up links on the album and the artist to look in the library. Could be added an option to open this panel for the album being played, and I guess it would not be too hard to add something similar to control reproduction on the bottom panel (now there is an option to find the song from the context menu).
