MusicBee Wishlist / Custom-order the Filter List
« on: July 25, 2019, 06:57:40 PM »
I don't know whether this is a bigger job than I imagine, or whether many people would even appreciate it...

My filter list has to have a number prefix in-front of each one, so that the appear in the order I want.

It looks kind of dweebly, and the numbers also appear in the tabs, which is kind of fuggly.

It would be cool to be able to reorder them by drag and drop (or other means), and be able to delete the numbers.

Not a big deal by any means, though.

Can anyone explain to me why the File Organiser tool and the Auto Organise settings have the 'on drive' parameter?

For instance:
· If I have new files in C:\Downloads.
· They're loaded into the Now Playing List, and I've just edited the tags.
· Now I right-click them --> Send to library.

If I have a rule defined for C:\ then they'll get moved to D:\Music and renamed. Perfect.

Now imagine the same thing, but the new files are now on F:\Downloaded
When I send them to the library, they'll be added, but they won't be moved or renamed.
Unless I set up an rule for the F drive.

I'd basically like all files to be moved and renamed whenever I 'send to library', no matter what partition or disk they're on.
I don't understand why the 'on drive' parameter even exists, except for maybe as a safety mechanism?

Thanks.

Questions / Re: Drag from desktop to Now Playing?
« on: July 21, 2019, 01:40:16 PM »
Yes! Thanks!

A few days ago I ran MB as admin so I could amend the file associations within the settings page, and hadn't restarted it since.

In Win7 I had all that UAC stuff disabled, and haven't got around to doing anything about it in Win10 yet.

Questions / Drag from desktop to Now Playing?
« on: July 21, 2019, 12:48:52 PM »
Silly question, but I can't find the answer.

In Win7 I used to be able to drag music files from Explorer/desktop to the Now Playing panel.

Now I've installed Win10 and reinstalled Musicbee, and I can't drag stuff into the NPL.

Is it Win10? A change in a newer version of MB? Is it in a Musicbee setting now (I can't see it)?

Thanks.

By the the way, when I installed Win10 and knew I was going to do a fresh install of Musicbee, I took the opportunity to research other players to see if anything had changed in the music player landscape in the last few years. That lasted all of 15 minutes, because it was clear that Musicbee had not been eclipsed in any way by any other software. Time for another donation, I think!  ::)

The mouse wheel is too slow already. It's dragging the scrollbar in a long list which I find too fast/jerky/sensitive and unwieldy.

The middle mouse scroll was good because it was very smooth, and the speed was very controllable and intuitive.

Don't worry - I'll get used to it! Just thought it was a bug because the middle mouse thing works in every other program.

But if it was by design, then fair enough - no problem. I'm sure loads of users love the one-click search!

Hi Steven! Thanks for your reply!

In my Win7 install (which I thought was an MBv3 from a few months ago, but I could be wrong!), middle-click brought up the on-screen cursor (as in every other software Eg. Chrome), and moving the mouse scrolled the list in that direction. Staying near the centre was a slow scroll, and moving to the edge of the screen could make it scroll very fast. I could get to the bottom of a long list of music very quickly.

Right now, I can only scroll through a list by rotating the mouse wheel or grabbing the scrollbar. With long lists, the former is too slow, and the latter is too fast/sensitive when trying to zero in on an artist or album.

So you're saying that this was a design decision, and not a Win10 bug? If so, that's ok. I'll get used to it!

Sorry for resurrecting an old post.

I have just moved from Win7 to a clean install of Win10, and a completely fresh install of MusicBee 3.3.7115 (installer, not MS Store).

I'm using the same laptop and Microsoft wireless mouse as before, but I have the problem outlined in this thread.

EDIT: Actually on re-reading it, this French guy can't scroll at all. So this other old thread is more relevant:
https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=26448.0

The problem is that a middle click on any panel instigates a search, rather than toggling the drag-scroll, like in every other piece of software I have. Any advice on how to fix/change this strange middle-click behaviour?

Thanks.

Questions / Re: taskbar player disappeared?
« on: February 09, 2016, 01:49:16 AM »
My buttons are back.
I haven't restarted Windows or changed any settings, but have restarted MusicBee several times since.
I am using a custom Aero theme.

Same. The buttons don't work. Using MusicBee 3.

Questions / Re: How-to split my music library
« on: January 24, 2016, 11:52:43 PM »

Yes, filters, some using their own views for the main panel if I want different columns and sorting.
I've got 13 filters and it works really well.

Trying to use a separate library or playlists would work, but filters is the tool meant for the job.

Questions / Musicbee 3: Thank you
« on: January 24, 2016, 03:26:53 PM »

Just a quick thank you to Steven and all the users who have committed time, thought and effort into MB3.
I was a little worried that I would have to stay with v2.5 with all the impending GUI changes, but MB3 is looking great so far.

Awesome job Steven. The best music player stays on top!

That's a great suggestion. Thanks Steven.

Questions / Search for embedded artwork filetype
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:49:54 PM »

I didn't pay any attention whether the files were jpg or png when embedding artwork into my library.
Now I've discovered that my mp3 player does not display png artwork.

I'd like to identify all the files in my library which have png embedded, so I can embed jpg instead.
Is that possible in Musicbee? Maybe a 3rd party tool?

Also, now I can't easily use Musicbee's 'search for picture on internet' feature, because until it's
actually embedded, there isn't a way to opt between jpg or png. Any solution for that?

Thanks.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: analyse volume automatically
« on: July 18, 2015, 06:59:48 AM »
Isn't there a caveat with this?

If a downloaded track already has volume levelling parameters set in the tags, they are NOT over-written by MusicBee. So you will have a situation where MB will be doing some volume levelling at specific settings (Eg. type of algorithm and the gain setting), and some of your tracks will have volume levelling done at other settings by other software.

Obviously for volume levelling to work properly, it has to be applied consistently across entire library.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Equalizer tag
« on: July 18, 2015, 06:39:06 AM »
You know that you can create your own presets?
Creating four or five personal presets based on your system/room should be enough to cover your collection.

I can't imagine a normal situation where you need to apply individual EQ to specific albums or tracks.
Unless perhaps you listen to a lot of home/hobbyist recordings with very low-grade production.
