Questions / 'calculate and write missing track replay gain' feature
« on: August 23, 2011, 08:01:26 AM »

When does this happen?
I've been adding albums with this setting ticked, and they are all still displayed
when I use the 'tag manager -> show files with no volume analysis' filter.

Perhaps volume analysis different from replay gain?

My car stereo has a usb port and plays mp3 @ 192kbps CBR.
I used to do this with MediaMonkey and it worked fine.

However, even though MusicBee seems to have converted all the files to 192kbps,  using the 'portable device listening' preset, most of them don't play. The strange thing is, a small minority of them do play.

Any ideas?

I would love to see a description field added to the 'edit autoplaylist' dialogue.
The description would display in a mouseover popup.

At the moment, the autoplaylist name has to describe what it does.
Eg. "Random from all 'Best Of' playlists" <---- autoplaylist name describing what it does.

As shown in my mock-up below, having a description pop-up allows short, arbitrary playlist names
whilst accommodating more communicative, helpful descriptions:

Note that the user types the description, rather than having it generated automatically from the rules in the dialogue.
I think it would be better that way, so the user can customise it.

MusicBee Wishlist / Bookmarking within tracks
« on: June 19, 2011, 09:32:16 PM »
In my 'A-B Repeat' thread (http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3687.0)
'bookmarking' was mentioned so I thought I'd create a new thread for this feature request.

During playback, it would be nice to click a button or use a keyboard shortcut to add a 'bookmark' to the track.
Optionally you could be asked to name the bookmark and add a note/description.

Later, you'd go to a 'bookmark list view' to see all your bookmarks.
Clicking one would take you to that particular spot within the track (the point at which the bookmark was created).

This would be useful for finding particular parts of an audio file in podcasts, audiobooks and language courses.

Any thoughts?

MusicBee Wishlist / select multiple albums in 'album & tracks' view
« on: June 19, 2011, 09:10:58 PM »
In 'album & tracks' view, we can ctrl-click on individual tracks to select and highlight them.
We can do this across many albums.

If we click on the artwork, it selects the whole album.
But we can't ctrl-click on artwork to quickly select several albums.

Ideally I'd like to be able to ctrl-click a couple of full albums using the artwork,
and then go on to ctrl-click some individual tracks to add them to the selection.

What d'ya think?

MusicBee Wishlist / A-B Repeat
« on: June 12, 2011, 08:13:05 PM »
I'm learning a new language using lots of audio podcasts and tracks ripped from CD courses.
It would be useful to have an A-B repeat, to loop a section of a track.

The way I envisage it working is to have one button labelled 'A-B'
The first click designates the start point of the loop.
The second click designates the end point of the loop. The track would then jump to point 'A' and start looping.
The third click turns looping off again.

A button would be nice, but a keyboard shortcut would also work just as well.

Apart from language learning, this feature might also appeal to musicians who are trying to learn a song a section at a time.

What do you think?

EDIT: I noticed this was requested last year, but it did not generate discussion:
