Questions / Is there a way to make a layout more "permanent"/"default" ?
« on: November 02, 2015, 03:36:03 PM »
for example if I am in "Album & Tracks" display
then if I click on an album name it switchs over to "Track Detail"

Wait ....
actually I just found out while writing this post that if I set that last view to "Album & Tracks", musicbee will actually remember that choice ! awesome!

now ...
is there a way to set "Album & tracks" or any other to be the default layout?

Thanks.

hi,
for the life of me I can't find how to maximize the existing Rip CD window after I minimized it :
-either through the Rip CD window itself
-either through music bee globally
-either through windows 7 "minimize all windows" function

which means once the ripping is finished I can't check its results track by track, or even use "encode selected or whatever

I can perfectly fine open a new one though. but the one that have been minimized ? nope, no can't do

kind of annoying.

Thanks.

Questions / skins with focus on easiness on the eyes ?
« on: June 15, 2015, 10:30:33 PM »
hi,
I'm having a look at all the skins but so far I see very few that pleases me:

-all the dark variations pretty much look the same to me (and it's too dark)
-all the white & silver variations are all right but I prefer less bright looks for those kind of app
-then you have all the flashy stuff  (melon remix, citrine just to give a few examples )

the only skin which I found pleasing yet with colors that enhance usability is aerobee
it's not too dark, it's not too bright either and it has good color choices for optimum reading
ibee is not too bad either though the colors are not exactly my cup of tea.

so ... is there any other skin with soft colors ?
maybe a creamy sugary experience ala firefox charamel ??? https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/charamel/?src=search

thanks.

PS: I've looked on the wiki and forum but so far no luck, hence why I ask.

Questions / spectrum customization ?
« on: June 12, 2015, 06:00:15 PM »
I'm trying out music managers lately
my two preferred right now are foobar2000 & musicbee
when I compare both spectrum, it's very evident that foobar2000 spectrum seems more fluid/faster display

is there a way to customize this ? amount of refreshes per second for example  ...

Questions / FLAC profiles silly questionning
« on: June 11, 2015, 11:43:37 AM »
Hello,

I wanted to ask the reason for having an "archive" profile
I mean the only difference between the two profiles is that the "portable" profile has a compression level of 8
whereas the archive profile has a compression level of 0

given that a standard song takes about 20s to encode and a few minutes to rip, the encoding of the previous song is generally finished around 30~40% of the ripping of the next at compression level 8

given that FLAC is by essence lossless so whatever compression level only changes the size & the time to encode

given that even if there was no ripping but just encoding, encoding a whole library of 5000 songs would probably take  a single day (5000 x20s = about 28 Hours)

I don't see the reason for any other profile than maximum compression level, + the names are a bit misleading in my humble opinion.
For me, "archive" means something you're gonna store for a long time so a huge compression level would actually makes sense to me
also when talking about zip or rar files & the like those are often called "archived files"
and in winrar no compression is actually called : "Store"

Thoughts ?

Questions / [Solved]Naming Template issues (new user)
« on: June 10, 2015, 12:25:34 PM »
hello
I'm very new to musicbee and trying to tailor it to my wants & needs
currently trying to replace cdex & get a specific folder structure
I'm trying to put something that will put all soundtracks in a specific folder without artist folder
and all others in their folder with artist

file naming when ripping each track as a separate file :
$If(<Genre>=Soundtrack,Soundtrack\<Album>" - "<Year(yyyy)>,<Album Artist>\<Album>" - "<Year(YYYY)>)\<Disc-Track#>"-"<Title>

however it doesn't work at all, it will create folder named : $If(<Genre>=Soundtrack,Soundtrack ... and so on
instead of say :
Soundtrack\Terminator - 1984\01-The Terminator Theme.FLAC

so I must be doing something wrong, I tried to read the naming conventions & all, but so far couldn't really figure it out.
