MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Original Tags

If you go to Edit and then click on Tag Inspector, at the top it shows the tag format, if that is what you are looking for.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: auto rate

In iTunes, it autorates the album so that it is an average of the song ratings in that album. Other players don't do this. I don't really like autorating the album because sometimes I only have 2 songs for an album, for others I have 20 so the average is biased.

MusicBee Wishlist / Any chance of supporting mouse buttons?
« on: May 06, 2011, 06:05:59 AM »
I have seen this requested before but it would still be really convenient if there was a way that my forward and back buttons on my mouse could be used as next/previous buttons. It would also be useful in the web browser as forward and back buttons. This is something that every music player and browser that I have used supports.

I could change the next/previous hotkeys in Preferences to a key combination and then map my mouse buttons to that combo in the Logitech application, however, I would then lose the forward and back function in all my other applications.

EDIT: He beat me to it.

Steven, please correct me if any of this is incorrect but I will try to explain this to the best of my knowledge.

Because you chose save to MusicBee only, it won't actually write anything to the tag, it will only keep it in the MusicBee cache.

If you click open the Tag Editor and click on the '...' next to artist, you are able to enter an artist and choose their role (Artist, Guest Artist, Performer or Remixer). Artist, Performer and Remixer will link to ID3 tags in the file, Guest Artist and Display Artist will not as they are currently defined by MusicBee only.

If you still want to see a separate field in the Tags (2) tab of the Tag Editor, here is what you need to do:
   1. Go to Preferences, Tags (1). Click on Define New Tags...
   2. Enter Remixer into the Identifer field and click Save. The other fields will automatically be populated.
   3. Under the Custom Tags area of the Tags (1) preferences, enter the name Remixer as the display name of custom 1 (or any other custom tag number).
   4. For 'save to music file as tag', select Remixer from the drop-down list.
   5. Click 'Save'.

The Remixer tag should now show under the Tags (2) tab of the Tag Editor. It will link to the TXXX\REMIXER ID3 tag and you can check this in the Tag Inspector. However, the values from the one under the Artist Splitter and the one in the Tags (2) tab will not sync in my experience. I don't know if this is intended behavior or not.

I hope this explains it.

Words like 'DJ' would become 'Dj', which can be quite annoying.

Good point, the feature may be more complicated than I thought.

You can find remixer in the album splitter. There is also a mix artist under custom fields. I don't knoow if they're similar.

MusicBee Wishlist / Artwork display settings
« on: May 04, 2011, 07:34:14 AM »
It would be nice if the setting chosen for the Artwork view (Selected Tracks or Playing Track) was saved. It always reverts to Playing Track setting, at least for me. This behavior can be annoying. Also, maybe skin creators would be interested in utilizing a preference like this.

I can see why you would want to create a list of songs that you haven't listened to so that you can hear things that you may have forgotten. This functionality is already available.

However, I can't imagine how this would work with respect to albums and artists.

For example: say you had 50 Beatles songs and you listened to each one time. Then you had one Kanye West song that you listened to 50 times.  So Kanye West and the Beatles would both have play counts of 50? I don't see how this is useful information. Correct me if you have a different way of thinking about this.

That's just my input.

I don't really understand how this would work. There is already a play count for the songs themselves, so the tags would have to be dependent on those. It seems cumbersome.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Facebook or Twitter sharing

I think that it would kind of make sense to have this as MusicBee is already connected to the web with an integrated browser and for pulling information, artwork and purchasing tickets.

I don't really know how useful it would be though or what kind or agreements are necessary, as ferongr said.

Is this implemented yet? I am running 1.2.4133 but when I put a semicolon in a multivalue field, I don't get suggestions.

MusicBee Wishlist / Ability to Add PDFs to Library

It would be nice to be able to add PDF files to the library for album booklets. Is this something that you would consider?
