MusicBee Wishlist / Windows 8 SmartScreen Filter
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:49:06 PM »
MusicBee currently does not pass the Windows 8 SmartScreen filter. This might be alarming for new users. I don't know what the cost of getting a CA certificate is but it might be valuable to look into.

Also, it would be cool if MusicBee was in the Windows Store!

MusicBee Wishlist / Auto DJ: 'similar to' current song
« on: July 09, 2012, 02:43:04 AM »
Is it possible to have an option in the Auto-DJ to make playlists similar to the current song using Track.getSimilar?

Portable Devices / Deleting songs on sync slow
« on: April 06, 2012, 02:16:27 PM »
I went to sync my music to my phone as I usually do and for some reason, the syncing process is taking about 15 seconds per song to delete songs that are already on the device. I restarted the process a couple of times but that did not fix it.

MusicBee Wishlist / iTunes Dates
« on: February 13, 2012, 06:54:53 AM »
Music purchased from the iTunes store displays the date in the following format:  YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssZ.
For example: 2011-09-09T07:00:00Z.

It would be good if the Year column would display it in a 'prettier' format such as MM/DD/YYYY.

MusicBee Wishlist / File Organization Capitalization
« on: December 27, 2011, 06:37:05 AM »
I would like to see the File Organizer update filenames when capitalization of characters in tags are changed. Currently if a song in the library is named EXAMPLE, but you rename it Example, the filename remains as EXAMPLE.mp3.

Skins / Alternating Colors
« on: December 24, 2011, 05:41:42 PM »
When a skin is set to have alternating colors in the track details view, I cannot find the element that controls the color of songs that are missing from the library (with at exclamation point next to them). This was pointed out by Greb in this post. All skins that I've seen with alternating rows have this issue, so I'm thinking that the value may be auto-calculated?

Portable Devices / Replace Artist tag on sync
« on: October 05, 2011, 07:10:13 PM »
Is the 'replace artist tag with sort artist' setting under the devices settings supposed to work for files that are not being converted on-the-fly?
Can it be made to just use the Display Artist if the Sort Artist is empty?

Tips and Tricks / How to add a screenshot to a post
« on: July 22, 2011, 08:30:19 PM »
To add an image to a post:
1. Create the image by taking a screenshot with the PrtScn button and paste the image into an application such as Paint. Save the image. Alternatively, you can use another application such as Windows Snip to create the image.

2. Crop the image to show what you want to display and possibly add markings to highlight certain areas. You can use Paint for this.

3. Upload the image to an image hosting site such as MediaFire or ImageShack. These are both free image hosting sites.

4. Get the direct link to the image and copy it. This link cannot be a page which has the image on it, but must be the actual address of the page. It should end in .jpg, .bmp, or .png if it is the address of the image, such as

5. In the post that you want to add the image to, you can simply paste the link and post it. Example:

(Advanced) To make the image actually appear in the post.
6. Surround the direct link with the tags
[img] [/img]
to make the actual image appear. It should look like:

7. You can make the image link somewhere by adding the
tags. So the full link would look like

8. Now, you can center your image by adding the
[center] [/center]
tags around the link.

9. Finally, you can resize the image so it doesn't take up the whole page by adding 'width=' or 'height=' in the img tag, so it would look like
[center][url=][img width=200][/img][/url][/center]

So, as you can see, it can get complicated. But of course, the final steps are not entirely necessary.

For additional tags, please see this page. I am not sure if they are all implemented here.

Portable Devices / Syncing Multiple Playlists
« on: June 20, 2011, 02:49:55 AM »
I have a playlist called Sync of songs that I sync to my phone because I don't have enough room for my whole library. So in the device sync settings, I have Sync as the playlist selected to sync.

The problem is I have other playlists that I would also like to have on my phone, but not every song in those playlists, only the songs that already exist in Sync. Does anyone else do this? Is there any way to do it other than manually?

I hope I explained this well.

MusicBee Wishlist / Multiple artist indicator
« on: June 10, 2011, 02:29:12 AM »
I think that it would be a good idea to put an asterix (or some sort of identifier) next to the Artist field in the Track Editor when the actual artist(s) differs from what is being shown from the Display Artist. This would prevent users from inadvertently changing the Artist field and overwriting any artists that may have been hidden.

I suggest this only for the track editor and in the Library or Now Playing list because it may not be very nice looking to have asterices everywhere but that's just my opinion.

MusicBee Wishlist / Dual Lyrics Support
« on: May 30, 2011, 06:56:26 AM »
I just started using MiniLyrics with MusicBee and I am loving it. I am actually running an AutoHotkey script to change tracks every 3 seconds until it goes through my entire library and hopefully adds synchronized lyrics to almost every song.

My problem is that when I sync my music to my phone, the player only recognized unsynchronized lyrics so if a song comes up that didn't already have unsynchronized lyrics in it, none will be found with the MiniLyrics plugin, only synchronized ones will.

Is there any way to have the option of finding and saving both types of lyrics?

MusicBee Wishlist / Auto Organize Audiobooks
« on: May 18, 2011, 12:34:32 AM »
It would be nice if the Audiobooks section could be setup to be auto-organized like the rest of the library.

MusicBee Wishlist / Any chance of supporting mouse buttons?
« on: May 06, 2011, 06:05:59 AM »
I have seen this requested before but it would still be really convenient if there was a way that my forward and back buttons on my mouse could be used as next/previous buttons. It would also be useful in the web browser as forward and back buttons. This is something that every music player and browser that I have used supports.

I could change the next/previous hotkeys in Preferences to a key combination and then map my mouse buttons to that combo in the Logitech application, however, I would then lose the forward and back function in all my other applications.

MusicBee Wishlist / Artwork display settings
« on: May 04, 2011, 07:34:14 AM »
It would be nice if the setting chosen for the Artwork view (Selected Tracks or Playing Track) was saved. It always reverts to Playing Track setting, at least for me. This behavior can be annoying. Also, maybe skin creators would be interested in utilizing a preference like this.
