Compact Mode: change width of right panel (now playing, lyrics...)
-------------------------------------------------
I never thought about this before, but you can actually change the width of the right panel when i Compact Mode:

If you move your mouse to the left of the panel, at some point it will change into a resizable cursor. If you start dragging left or right, you will resize the panel. Very practical, but impossible to find except by accident :)

Not aware of any streaming functionality in MusicBee - you should check out UniversalMediaServer (http://www.universalmediaserver.com), it's an excellent free application that let's you stream (using DNLA) a huge amount of formats, both video and audio (mp3, flac, etc) to any device that supports it. Personally I use it to stream video & audio to my WD TV Live, and also audio to my Android phone and Ipad.

Questions / Re: [Solved] Theatermode - Now Playing

No plans just yet, want to make sure everything is on the up and up first :)
I'm quite a minimalist, so have stripped down a lot of the elements by now, love to have the artist pictures front and center - it's not easy to make sense of the x/y-Anchor names though, is there a topic on this? I'm trying to have the progress bar to the bottom-left corner and outwards from there.

[Edit]I figured it out :)

Thanks again - I submitted a bug report regarding this; going to mark this topic as solved.

I'm using your excellent Artist Frames as a template to learn how the different elements work - and in addition to your Lyrics-icon I now added an icon next to it to open the Now Playing list, using FloatingPanel on both so that they can be open at the same time.

Truely some great posibilities with Theater Mode :)

Thanks redwing!  :)

That works great for the most part - I have noticed a few oddities, not sure if I should report them as bugs or if this is intended behaviour.
(I guess I should add, I am using the latest 2.4 version of MusicBee)

First a working scenario:
Let's say my "now playing" list is empty. If I add an entire album using "Play with MusicBee", all the songs are displayed as they should be. The problem comes with the below scenarios when I start to add more tracks to the list.

1. When right-clicking one or more files in explorer and selecting "Queue Last in MusicBee", the "now playing" window does not refresh and show the newly added tracks - not until I manually click on a song to play it.

2. If I just choose "Play with MusicBee", the "now playing" window shows for instance only the three last songs. If I manually click on a song to play it again, the list refreshes and shows all songs loaded as it should be.

Here is how my "now playing" code looks at the moment:

Code
<element type="NowPlayingList" xAnchor="Panel.Right" x="-400" y="15" width="400" heightDock="Y:Panel.Bottom" height="-50" font="Segoe UI" style="Regular" size="8" fg="255,255,255" fg2="1,255,255" bg="150,10,10,10">
    <child id="#" width="25" format="#\." align="center" />
    <child id="TrackArtistAndTitle" width="175" />
<child id="Artist" width="175" />
    <child id="Duration" width="35" />
</element>

I am also wondering, is it possible to automatically hide the "now playing" window when the mouse-cursor is not "active" in MusicBee?

Questions / [Solved] Theatermode - Now Playing
« on: August 15, 2014, 07:33:18 PM »
Hi,

Just started tinkering with the layout of Theatermode:

One thing I cannot find out, is there a parameter to add a "now playing" element, or is a dockable "Now Playing Assistant" the only option?

Questions / Re: Question about sort order (now playing)
« on: April 11, 2014, 06:34:20 PM »
That's what I figured. Here's what Steven said about dragging from Windows Explorer.

tracks are drag/dropped in the order they have been selected. In the main panel, if you do the initial selection in one go (eg. clicking on an album picture or using the shift key) then that will be the order the files are displayed. If you do the initial selection from Windows Explorer, then windows has a (what i think) wacky scheme where (if i recall correctly) the ordering starts from the file you are pointing to when you start the drag and wraps the ordering around to the first file.

Then I'd consider your problem's now resolved.
Wow, that's actually it! I wasn't aware of such behaviour, but that is actually very useful to know! ;D
I have tested several times right now - and that makes perfect sense now... I just tested with a few album, and drag&dropped with the mouse over the first tune in an album, and that makes them add correctly to Now Playing.

I feel a bit dumbfounded, but thank you so much for clearing this up!
I have marked the topic as [solved] - now my next step is to donate to help keep this wonderful player alive. <3 MB :)

Questions / Re: Question about sort order (now playing)

1. I basically select all tracks in a folder, then drag&drop them straight into the "Now Playing" field.
(I have my music organized into a folder containing subfolders like this: Artist->Albums->Tracks. Files are usually named "Track Number - Title")

2. I have tested drag&dropping about 15 different albums into "Now Playing". They always sort the same way as in the previous screenshots.
Now I'm wondering: is this by design, or should MusicBee actually be able to sort by track# in Now Playing?

Just testing: when I am in Main Player and I have the Navigator shown; I browse to an album folder, then drag&drop straight from the Library Pane to the Now Playing Pane - the songs does indeed automatically sort the right way.

Yes, I just tried to re-save the album name of the tracks with the tag editor (marked all the tracks, hit edit, and then clicked save).

1. The tracks now sort correctly in Main Panel by track# without manually having to "sort by"
2. The tracks remain out of order when added to Now Playing.

Btw thanks for being patient with my questions/case :)

It seemed like it, but today I reinstalled MusicBee because of the error I got when updating the settings - just to be on the safe side.

I tested again with a new album and then with the same one. They are both loaded with the tracks in the correct order in the Library Pane (I guess what I might "Library" is actually the Album&Tracks layout).
So that appears correct, but as you can see they are still jumbled when I add them directly to the Now Playing pane.

- Test #1
- Test #2
(note that the # column is gone in the Library Pane, I seem unable to find it again under Other Fields for some reason)

Here's the new result (with # column and Automatically Update Play Order turned on):
- Main Player: Now Playing screenshot

It shows how it looks with the tracks added initially. If I click to sort by Track# - both column values does match.

Here is the result after I click to sort the track# column (they appear in correct order, but only after sorting manually):

All the tracks does indeed have the same tags for Artist and Album.
Here are my current settings:

- Sorting/Grouping
- Album & Tracks

Sometimes when I change the above settings, I get the following error:
- Error Message

Now that I go into Album & Tracks, the Grouping Header is reset back to "Album Artist"
Even when I am able to change it (to "Album") without error - it doesn't seem to have much effect?

Hi again and thanks for the quick replies - I'm adding some more information before heading off to work :)

Here is a screenshot from the tag editor of the top and bottom tracks:
- Link #1
- Link #2

I am also including various settings:
- Sourting/Grouping
- Shuffle (it doesn't seem to do shuffle in "now playing", but is there an off button?)
- Album&Tracks

Album & Tracks in the Main Panel is the pane that end with a #-menu that has the settings "Keep columns sized to panel" and "Auto size all columns" among other things, is that right? If so, that area is empty, I guess since I use Compact Player with Now Playing directly.
