did you try main menu/ Edit/ Undo ?

Ok this is interesting, I always edit lyrics in the right sidebar 'Lyrics' pane and when editing in there it always says "File Tags: No Changes" in Edit>Undo even after selecting "Embed Displayed Lyrics into Music File" and also after playing another song because I know it doesn't always write the data to the file until the next track, this is with the latest 3.3.7165 portable version (but I am using the LyricsReloaded plugin with this specific YML I don't know if that would affect that)

But after you mentioning that, I tested editing a file from the right click 'Edit' option on a file and that does correctly allow me to Edit>Undo the changes, but you can't search for lyrics in the Edit window and also that's a lot more clicks.

But even with the Undo option I think having an option to have a window that displays the lyrics MusicBee would find from a lyric search would still be useful addition to MusicBee for files that already have lyrics found for them.

A lot of my music has embedded lyrics however sometimes they're not exactly correct (happens a lot from lyrics got from services before Genius) to which I use the 'Delete Lyrics and Redo Search' option to get the correct lyrics, and for the most part that works flawlessly, however occasionally (even on Genius) there won't be lyrics for that song or the lyrics will be even more incorrect, which in that case I would prefer to use the lyrics that were previously in the file.

The workaround I currently use is to 'Copy Displayed Lyrics' then 'search', if the new lyrics are correct I leave it, if not I paste the previous lyrics back into the file.

I think it would be great if there was a feature to either select an "Undo Search and use Previous Lyrics" or to have an option to display the lyrics it would find in a Popup/Window to which there could be an option for "Yes use these Lyrics" or "Cancel".  (The Popup/Window option would be my personal preference as it would display what lyrics would be used before any changes to the file are made)

Many thanks in advance if one of these options becomes a feature in MusicBee  :)

You don't have to edit or remake the DLL at all.  It's set up to be much easier to customize than that (not my doing, but nice anyway).

First, download the Genius YML file from github.  It's in the "Configs" folder.

Then, I guess, rename it to whatever you want (don't know if this is necessary).

Then open it in any text editor.

Change the name field from "Genius" to something like "Genius (with pointless non-standard section headers)"  ;)  so you'll know it is different when you see it in MB.

Delete that line from above from the "post-filter" section and save the file.

Put the YML file in \%AppData%\Roaming\MusicBee\mb_LyricsReloaded\providers

Relaunch MB, and you're set.  Deselect the built-in Genius and activate your custom version.

You are amazing! I've followed all that and it's working perfectly now, for the record you don't have to rename the YML file, it's working without doing that. Many many thanks for your help you've gone above and beyond!!  ::)

Just been trying this plugin out and it is amazing for Genius however it seems to be stripping the [Verse 1], [Chorus] ect. that is on many lyrics and leaving a line break in it's place, is it possible to leave the [Verse 1], [Chorus] ect. in the downloaded lyrics?

Many thanks
Sorry, no.  The plugin specifically strips those out because they're not lyrics.

You can, of course, create a custom YAML based on the publicly posted code for the plugin and take out the part that does that for your own use.  The OP of this thread gives links to all the details.

The specific line you'll want to take out of the built-in Genius YML to create a custom YML that doesn't strip these is:
- [regex, '\[.{1,75}\]', ""]

Thank you so much  ::)  I've been on RegExr trying to figure what the various expressions mean and then I was trying trial and error deleting some things from the "pattern:" line using a fresh copy of the  mb_LyricsReloaded.dll each time to undo my changes and I don't think I would've ever realised that was the one controlling it.

Quick question, what program should I use to remove the - [regex, '\[.{1,75}\]', ""] line from the .dll?
I've tried Notepad, Notepad++ and a hex editor HxD 2.0 and every time after it's saved MusicBee deactivates the plugin and gives an error "Unable to initialise the plugin" when I try to re-enable it. (Replacing it with a new clean mb_LyricsReloaded.dll fixes it to try again)

99% sure bemmeme2 is a spam bot, this is a method spam bots use to look legit, they take a random post from the past give it a 'start' and 'end' and repost it including a spam link, for this one they've taken this post https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=23104.msg135049#msg135049 from 2017.

In "Customise panel..." there's an option "merge fields (so long text wraps to the next line)", untick that and it won't do that anymore.  :)

Questions / Finding albums where the year isn't the same on every track?
« on: September 09, 2018, 02:08:31 PM »
Before I do this manually by scrolling through my library I just wanted to ask if there's a way to find any album where not all the tracks have the same year automatically, either in MusicBee itself or with another program such as mp3tag, ect.?

Questions / Re: Two libraries on one computer.
« on: September 02, 2018, 04:28:26 PM »
For two completely separate installs/libraries/settings/skins ect. using two copies of the portable version is probably the best way, that would also make syncing between the two computers easy too using either some sync software or just manually copying and pasting the respective folder to the computer you want.

11
Connect the device to your computer then go to "Edit preferences">"Devices" select the device in the list and click "Configure" in there you will find options to sync the music to the specific device folder ("Settings">"Media Storage music files") and you can edit it so all songs would go in one folder.

As for the tagged correctly that entirely depends on if they are tagged correctly in your library already, if they are then the tags will be fine, if not they won't be.

12
It definitely will I have completely separate Portable installs for the music on my NAS and the music on my hard drive.

MusicBee does have an Audiobook section though so you can have all your music in 'Music' and audiobooks in 'Audiobooks' without needing the two installs if you didn't want to.

Questions / Re: working on files without adding to inbox or library?
« on: August 09, 2018, 02:22:00 PM »
No it won't, at least not by unticking it in the Scan folders for new files box, it will however remove them if they are moved out of the 'a' folder and then scan it (so potential solution is close MusicBee > rename 'a' to 'b' > create new empty 'a' folder > then in MusicBee scan > select remove missing files).

Possibly a better potential solution could be install a version of MusicBee Portable to a folder, you could then use that to edit the files instead keeping them completely separate from your library before you want to add them.

Polls / Re: POLL: How Long Have You Been Using MusicBee?

My forum date registered is September 22, 2013, 23:35:12, but I had been using MusicBee for a good few months before, so I'm safely past the 5 year mark but it feels like yesterday!

The problem comes from documentation (eg. https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LossyWAV#File_identification) calling it a double file extension when double file extensions (in Windows at least) don't exist, the .lossy part is just part of the regular filename and only added as an identifier that it was processed using lossyWAV and not losslessly as you would suspect a normal .flac file to have been. Also it will be the encoder adding it to the filename after MusicBee has given the encoder the filename (eg. *track* *Title*) to use, if you tried to rename it in Windows Explorer it would want to get rid of the .lossy part too.

I understand why they do it but I personally thought it was a silly and messy way of adding an identifier of .lossy and calling a double file extension instead of using a more sensible way such as -lossy.flac because it is just a flac file and that way it wouldn't cause this type of confusion.

People rename their files all sorts for identification means, one of the links you gave mentions .mp3.lossy.flac as a triple file extension but there's no such thing it's only a .flac file with two custom identifiers so they know where it came from, it's like if someone puts .320.mp3, -VBR.mp3, [256].m4a or .lossless.flac, I personally prefer using folders to separate files than these type of filename identifiers.

Because of this I would say it's not a bug as MusicBee is doing what it thinks it should be doing, it's taking a potentially 'messy' filename and renaming and 'organising it', but it could be a Wishlist so if a file extension is immediately preceded by .lossy (especially if it's a .flac or .wav) then it should keep the .lossy in the filename.
