If your question is mainly about the album artist(s), you could consider adding a tag named <Album Artists>.

Then you could have Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar as the sole Album Artist,
and both Ali Sethi and Nicolas Jaar as Album Artists.

Thank you so much! This seems to be perfect for what I want. I've followed through the whole tutorial but have never really set up a custom tag before... I have copied it as per your screenshot but am unable to see it as an option under custom tags. What is the Column Browser, the left tab? I'm sorry if these are silly questions!

I have just noticed my artists are sorted by album artist rather than just artist.

Is there any way to replace the function of ";" to allow me to use "&". or is there any way to do this with album artists?

Select all of the files:
Open the tag editor for them
Enter "Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar" in the artist field
Click the "..." next to the Artist field to open the multiple artist splitter
Click "Split" next to "Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar" in the multiple artist splitter
Click Update to get back to the tag editor
Enter "Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar" in the Album Artist field on the tag editor
Click Save

Thank you very much for this! I was unaware of the artist splitter. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me and it is still sorted as "Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar". Is there potentially any setting I may have enabled which causes this not to work?

Hello all, I am looking to use custom sorting to help me improve the sorting of collab albums in my library.

A new album for example is, "Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar - Intiha"

I want this to be sorted under both artists discographies, but still have the album artist set as "Ali Sethi & Nicolas Jaar".
I have enabled custom sorting, set both artist and album artist to sort as "Ali Sethi; Nicolas Jaar". I assumed this would work as if I change the actual album artist to this, it sorts the way I want. (I can't use this however as this causes last.fm scrobbles to not function correctly (this scrobbles the ";")).

What would be the best way to handle this?

It's quite surprising that it hasn't been added yet. I guess you got here the same way I did, just linked back to a thread in 2009. I'd really love this feature

Hey all, long time musicbee user here, first time posting on the forum. I have seen before that there have been various threads dedicated to implementing animated album covers to musicbee, and Steven has seemed open to it in the past - however, this still isn't a feature.
As time has passed, there have been more and more albums featuring animated covers - I really think this feature would be a great addition.
