Questions / MusicBee maximize button ~ Windows task bar
« on: May 18, 2019, 08:45:15 AM »
Usually when I hit the maximize button, I get full-screen mode.
Sometimes, it squeezes down & leaves the Window taskbar showing.
(I have that set to Lock on & Auto-Hide off).
I haven't found a setting for this .. Is there one?
(I'd like to always show my taskbar.)

It should also be noted that these messes seem to occur only when editing the artist(s) field(s) themselves.
For example, editing a comments field (only) outside of MB, then re-scanning in MB, will NOT cause the
artist(s) to lose their multi-value quality, but any edit to the artist value(s) will.
...
pain that has to be lived with

Questions / Re: MusicBee changing semicolons to forward slashes

{pulling my hair out}

just to go thru it .. the next series:

MusicBee: set to:    Prince; AC/DC; MB
mp3tag: shows as:    Prince\\AC/DC\\MB
MediaMonkey rescan:   Prince; AC/DC; MB

MediaMonkey: set to: Prince; AC/DC; MM
mp3tag: shows as:   Prince/AC/DC/MM
MusicBee rescan:   Prince/AC/DC/MM

MusicBee: set to:   Prince\\AC/DC\\MB2
mp3tag: shows as:   Prince\\AC/DC\\MB2
MediaMonkey rescan:   Prince\\AC/DC\\MB2

MediaMonkey: set to:   Prince/AC/DC/MM2
mp3tag: shows as:   Prince/AC/DC/MM2
MusicBee rescan:   Prince/AC/DC/MM2

There's got to be a way to tie this down.

Went thru it again, just to be sure, but same.

In MB, set Artist = Prince; AC/DC; more
Saved, exited MB & scanned in MediaMonkey.
Came up as "Prince; AC/DC; more" in MM.

In MM, set Artist = Prince; AC/DC; other
Saved, exited MM, & scanned in MusicBee.
Came up as "Prince/AC/DC/other" in MB.

As I said, consistent .. and it is MB.

Did that, and, unfortunately, it is MB.
-Create or Edit in MB (with semicolons), save.
-Go out & create or edit elsewhere, save (with semicolons).
-Rescan in MB .. MB comes back with slashes.
Consistently.

The changes are done in both "Artist" and "Original Artist" fields.
MB does NOT change semi-colons in the "Genre" field.
???

Questions / Immediate read - single file
« on: June 06, 2015, 04:15:39 PM »
With all the attention paid to ID3 tags - different versions in different programs, and all of that (that covers many thousands of hours of discussions, here and elsewhere), I wanted to run some tests.
So I open MB and check out how the tags show on a particular file.
Then I switch over to MP3tag and edit the file there to see what happens to the MB version.
Then I go back to MB to evaluate the results.
But MB has its own DB version still.
To see the edit, I need to rescan everything.

So, it would be awesome to have a single right-click option for a file, in the main window, to "re-read file & tags"

Questions / Re: 2.5 - Column Browser lost functionality.

Thanks Zak -- Perfect.
This seems like an obvious one that should get into the Beta, though.

Questions / 2.5 - Column Browser lost functionality.
« on: May 15, 2015, 01:05:03 AM »
One of my favorite things in MusicBee was that in the column browser, I could put up 2 copies of the Genre field, and the second would act as a subset of the first.  I use Genre extensively as a multi-value field, so this made browsing enormously easier & flexiblier.
Unfortunately, this seems to have been lost in 2.5 -- I can't find a way to get a second copy of a field up.
I installed: MusicBeePortable_2_4 (2014-10-18).zip
and downloaded: http://musicbee.niblseed.com/V2_5/MusicBee_Exe_Patched.zip
to overwrite, per instructions.
Can we get this back, please.

Questions / Installing Multiple Apps to a Common Directory
« on: May 11, 2015, 02:28:08 PM »
It has becomre quite tedious copying & checking for duplicates & versions between multiple apps that share the same plugins/addons.
I'm thinking of installing them all to a single AV directory.

This would mean that MB & WinAmp & Foobar2000,
plus LAME (3.99.5) & WinAmp-Essentials & Windows-Essentials-Codec-Pack,
would all necesarily be using the same support files, and I have a single place to look for update/configuration work.

Does anyone forsee problems with this approach?

Questions / Re: 2.5 (beta) as Portable
« on: May 11, 2015, 01:06:15 PM »
I am also in the middle of a run through, doing what you suggested before (a portable installation of 2.4, followed by overwriting the files in that install with the ones downloaded for the 2.5-Beta stuff).  I will keep an eye out here.

In the meantime, can you tell me what files are actually supposed to be different between a standard and a portable installation?
I've found all the .INIs and checked all contents, to make sure I pick up everything pointed to, and I've been going through the old standard install for ref's like registry entries .. but it'd sure be nice to have a simple list of those files that are specifically changed for a portable installation.

So, ignore the "MusicBeeSetup_2_5_RC2.exe" file from the "Latest Version" forum?

Questions / 2.5 (beta) as Portable
« on: May 11, 2015, 06:19:07 AM »
I don't see anything about portable for the 2.5 (beta).
Can anyone tell me something?
I'm trying to clean up the entire installation of MB,
and this would help a lot - cutting down drastically
on the different locations for things.
