Still hopefully looking for an answer to this.

Meanwhile I've found a work around. I keep the app as large as possible even when its not 'maximized'. That is, when I click the restore button, the app is still effectively full screen. This way when I drag the window between between monitors, it doesn't collapse forcing panels to reshape to accomodate.

I am oddly lost as to how I'd configure the boxed section in red below.

What you're seeing is a customized view of 'artists'. Is there a way to edit writing that overlays the picture? ie the Artist name and how many albums?
I can manage to do this for album art view but not for artists.

My second question is about fonts. Here you can see I've customized the track information panel. However, if I wanted the font to be smaller for just part of the text, clipping occurs or it looks like superscript. Is that a bug?

This layout has been updated to look much better since the previous version. Click to enlarge.

Thanks a lot. I've been able to work it out with both your help and hiccup's.

Do have another puzzle for anyone willing to chime.

I'm interested in the Track Information on the right panel. Notice how the information underneath the album art is sometimes separated by lines and the info extends for several lines. Currently the configuration for Track information only allows for 7 fields. How might they have achieved this? Is skin manipulation or something else?

Questions / Re: Album Art Highlight Rule
« on: April 25, 2022, 02:47:49 AM »
My bad. I should have noticed you were a vet.  I too noticed the behaviour today when playing around with highlights. I don't have a more helpful answer other than I think this is expected behaviour if the wording in the dialogue windows is anything to go by. @Steven would have to chime in unless someone has managed to do what you ask.

Album Art highlights are a separate option from Track highlights (including Album and Tracks view). Simply go to the general highlight rules found in MusicBee preferences - Tags (2). You can replicate the rule there (if its applicable to individual tracks) and it should show up in that panel view.

Questions / Re: Playlist Filter for Banned Songs?
« on: April 24, 2022, 09:19:54 PM »
At the top level you can create a library filter for that.

To do this click to the left of the usual 5 stars for ratings until it switches to the ban symbol.

Alternatively if you are using autoplay lists you can apply the same rule to exclude songs with that rating from the list.

You can also refer to this thread: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=32855.0

Banned tracks are not excluded from synching
Unticked tracks are excluded, except for when they are in a playlist. It looks intentional but i dont recall the reasoning.
You could create an auto-playlist that reads the playlist(s) and excludes unticked files, and use the auto-playlist for synching instead of the static playlist. You could also exclude banned tracks that way

Questions / Re: Highlight / Filter tracks that have synced lyrics

@ Zak   How were you able to figure out what values Lyrics? returned? Is it fairly easy to describe?

Thank you, that works.

For anyone else looking to replicate this in the future:

 - Ctrl-O to open musicbee preferences. Then Tags (2) and define rules for highlighting. The rule to highlight a track with synced lyrics (that is, they have time stamps) will look like this:

There is one small wrinkle. Depending on what plugins you are using and if/how you're saving lyrics to the music file's tags, musicbee might show synced lyrics in the lyrics window but the lyrics haven't actually been embedded in the file. The above rule is checking for embedded lyrics. You would need to embed the lyrics for the above rule to be true. You can do that with a right click on the lyrics and choose embed lyrics.

Would love to know if there is a way to mass embed lyrics over a selection of files instead of one by one.

Questions / Highlight / Filter tracks that have synced lyrics
« on: April 23, 2022, 07:07:19 PM »
Is it possible to highlight or filter for tracks with synced lyrics.  The rule setting has two options, 'Lyrics' and 'Lyrics?' and I haven't figured out the distinction between the two.

Right now, I've tried using the following formula 'Lyrics is not null' but it isn't giving the expected results.

For example Track A has the following lyrics:

Quote
Artist: Nick Drake
Title: Know

You know that I love you
You know I don't care
You know that I see you
You know I'm not there
ID: qwnhcosz

TRACK B :

Quote
Fame is but a fruit tree
So very unsound
It can never flourish
Till its stalk is in the ground
So men of fame
Can never find a way
Till time has flown
Far from their dying day

Neither are synchronized. TRACK A doesn't get highlighted, Track B does with the above rule.

Thanks for reporting,

There must be something going on at Bitly that is causing these false security warnings.
I'm not sure creating new links would solve this, or for how long.

The best thing to do for now is if you (and other forum members that care and have a moment to spare) could fill in the form that the warning page has a link to, to inform Bitly that the security blocking is a false one.
I am guessing the more users report it, the sooner it will be solved.

Done.

Could the bit.ly link to the scripts be updated please? I keep getting message that the URL has been blocked as potentially harmful.

Running MusicBee v3.4.

Built the skin from the ground up using the color scheme from Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing" and so I've titled it "The Best Damn Skin." One day I'll get better tab icons, but for now I'm satisified. For a more details on particular aspects of the panels, check out the full imgur gallery here. Main views below.

Hi could you please elaborate a little more on how you achieved this layout? It looks like a custom Album and Tracks view with your own flavor of virutal / custom tags. But how did you get the large artist pictures to the left of the main panel? That seems to be what controls what albums are displayed in the main panel.

Thanks

edit:
I'm trying to replicate some of your arrangements and a question that has come up for me: you use the right panel to host the player controls. Although you can save layouts, it seems to me that if you remove the main player controls from the bottom panel in one arrangement, it removes it everywhere. Is that right? Is there a way around that?

Questions / Re: Display fields, column widths, horizontal scroll ... ?

To maintain different views for the main panel you can create and save custom views. Right click on the main panel header bar and you can choose to save a new view. Careful, MB saves changes you make on the fly. So for example to not mess up my defaults I pick the view I want, ex Tracks, and then immediately save a new view. Only then do I start making edits. Those edits will be unique to that view.

I'm not sure I follow. Have you tried the find duplicates function?

Right now I have two separate albums, one in flac and one in mp3. Using find duplicates will show two tracks side by side that have the same but different extensions. All on default settings. Were you looking for something a bit different?

Questions / Re: Different libraries with different settings?
« on: April 16, 2022, 06:57:01 AM »
Sorry that you lost some filters you had worked meticulously to set up. I can't answer all of your questions but I can address your concern about filters.

When you create a filter, or when you right click one and select Edit Filter, you get an option in the floating window at the bottom left to ;make this filter available to only this library'.

In the meanwhile I intend to test it out myself to answer your question....

As far as I can tell the main panel view settings are not unique to a library. Even the tabs at the top persist through switches.
However, you can still right click the header back of the main panel (where you choose which view you want Album covers, tract, etc) and create and save a custom view which you could then use whenever you want to view that Library.

Given the limitations I just described, I prefer Hiccup's answer. That way you can have multiple instances of mb running and even have them skinned differently to easily tell them apart. I'm sure you could also give them different icons too!
