Currently you can only choose "resample to 44.1K"

Please allow a drop-down menu for bits/resampling.

For example, I want to convert my high resolution 24/192 files down to 16/48 (currently even if choosing "resample to 44.1K" it'll still be 24/44). MediaHuman Audio Converter allows me to choose anything I want, but this would mean that it would be considered a "new file" to Musicbee and won't be in any of my playlists. If I use Musicbee's converter, then the same song will still be in all of the correct playlists if I choose "replace original". If I have a song in 50 playlists, then I'd have to re-add them by hand if I use MediaHuman...

Also, can there be a "verify" feature in the conversion menu like in "TeraCopy" so that if the converted file is corrupted in some way, Musicbee will reconvert until it's perfect?

TeraCopy uses checksums but I'm not sure how that would work in this case since the two files will be different resolutions, so different checksums, which is the point of conversion...

Perhaps instead of checksums, it could be along the lines of what "FakinTheFunk" does where it checks if the file is corrupted (as in, the audio file reports "4:09" for time length, but the actual length is "2:33" because half of the song is silence due to the corruption)

For that feature, it may be prudent to make it a library-wide setting so that people can be notified by Musicbee if any of their songs get corrupted. Maybe adding an "exclusion" list for songs that have "secret tracks" where there's 10 minutes of silence after the main song, etc... So, the pop-up will say that "so and so may be corrupted, if this is a mistake, please press "add to exclusion list").

Of course, if there's another change to that file where the actual length goes down even more, then Musicbee will ask again even if that song is added to the exclusion list. As songs that have secret tracks can get corrupted too... So, to show how that would work...

Track length of song that has secret track: "15:44"
Actual length due to silence: "5:20"
User adds to exclusion list because the silence is on purpose.
Track gets corrupted for real and now has an actual length of "3:10"
Musicbee notifies user once again of the NEW discrepancy.

Thank you for the consideration!

A lot of audio files in my library have large covers (2000x2000 to 4000x4000+ resolution). I'd like to batch compress the image covers that are embedded in the audio files down to 500x500 while still retaining the link to the original large files. I like having the high-resolution images for when I'm on the "Now Playing" tab (my preset has the album cover taking up half the screen).

By "embed" and "link" I'm referring to when you choose an image for an album, you're given the following options:

1. embed the picture in the music file
2. link the picture to this music track
2b. link to the original picture file

Embedding increases the file size of the music file (since it copies the original picture directly into it), while linking doesn't increase file size. Though you can choose both at the same time. But if you only link, if you lose the library, you'd have to link every single album individually to the large images again.

The end result of what I'm asking is that my music will have reduced file sizes, but because of the link, I'll still be able to enjoy the high-resolution images in "Now Playing".

So, I'd like to rely on linking from now on since I have offsite/cloud backups of the library. There's no need to embed anymore. But there's too many albums to fix individually.

Is there a program or an option in Musicbee itself to batch compress every image in every audio file down to a specific resolution? When I search on Google, it gives me irrelevant info on compressing audio files to MP3 or images from PNG to JPG or whatever.

Course, if I'm wrong on anything I've said, I'd like to also be corrected too.

Thank you.

Questions / How to "Search and Replace" special characters?
« on: January 17, 2022, 04:48:05 PM »
I'm trying to remove "; Example" from "Test; Example" in the Genre tag. But when I use "Search and Replace" it says "No Matches Found". When I search for only "Example" then it finds everything. Why does ; screw it up?

I have Advanced Search and Replace but every preset is way too specific like "Remove EVERYTHING after and including <Custom Text 1>" which would mess up tags that have stuff after what I want to remove:
"Test; Example; I want to keep this part"

What else can I do?

Questions / Is Tempo Control lossless?
« on: September 07, 2021, 08:00:26 PM »
For example, changing the tempo or pitch in other programs like Audacity typically reduces the quality by quite a lot while also taking a long time. But with Tempo Control, we can just do it instantly. Is there any downside to it at all?

While in Track view, right click the column name area. Now click "Set Displayed Fields". Scroll under "Other Fields" until you find "Publisher" now move it over to "Selected fields".

As for seeing the amount, all you need to do is highlight once you've sorted by publisher. Musicbee automatically shows all data for highlighted items at the bottom right (amount of songs for track view, amount of albums for album view, as well as file sizes, queued etc.)

If you don't highlight, then it'll show the data for everything in the current tab.

Questions / Re: File Organiser options are suddenly all greyed out
« on: June 30, 2021, 10:07:22 PM »
if you have auto-organise enabled in the Library preferences, and try to manually organise a file thats in your music library then the settings cannot be changed in the manual organisation dialog ie, you can only change the auto-organise rules in the library preferences

I wasn't trying to manually organize, I just like to use ctrl+r to go straight to the auto-organize settings. Any reason it's necessary to prevent change to the settings using ctrl+r? Is this a recent change or has it always been like this? Coulda sworn I used to be able to change it with that hotkey. But it's been probably been 6+ months since I had to edit those settings.

If I'm remembering wrong, could you please tell me what the hotkey is to go straight to the auto-organize settings rather than the manual organization window? I don't see it when searching in the hotkey settings. If there isn't one, could you add it to the next update please?

Questions / File Organiser options are suddenly all greyed out
« on: June 29, 2021, 10:53:34 PM »
Which file in Musicbee's folder controls File Organiser's settings? I'd like to reset it to default. Auto-organization still works properly with the rules I had before, but I can't change any of them anymore.

MusicBee Wishlist / Where's "Manage Duplicates" in the hotkey menu?
« on: October 12, 2020, 02:03:21 AM »
It doesn't look like I can add a hotkey to "Manage Duplicates". Hopefully, I missed it somewhere but if not, can you add it as an option?

Thanks.

In an album that has duplicates of 24bit lossless and 16bit lossless, the "Manage Duplicates" option randomly chooses which is the duplicate per song. Can you make it so the highest bitrate always wins?

Thanks.

In "on drive" I have "D:\, E:\, C:\" but it doesn't recognize the drives. It seems I'd have to make a new "drive mapping" for each drive. But I have multiple exception rules. Do I really have to remake each rule 3 times every time I think of a rule?

Questions / Re: How can I change the default video type?
« on: April 23, 2020, 11:04:23 PM »
I'm not talking about a Video Player called "Music Video", I already know how to change the video player in options. Thank you though, sorry for the confusion.

When you add a video, Musicbee has support for changing what tags you can edit based on what type you choose in the options for that video. For example, if it's set as "Video" then you can change the season/episode. https://i.imgur.com/41A5Xcy.png But if it's set as Music Video, then it has all of the same tags as a regular song. https://i.imgur.com/vRAgtg7.png

"Video" is the default kind instead of "Music Video" for some reason. Which is why I'm asking if there's a way to change the default video kind when a video is first added to Musicbee.

So yes, Musicbee does support videos.

Questions / How can I change the default video type?
« on: April 23, 2020, 10:28:31 AM »
I don't think many people use Musicbee for TV shows. So I would like the default video type to be "Music Video". I'd rather just batch edit all of them to Music Video but for some reason, that tag in particular refuses to save when I do that (all other tags save). However, it saves if I do it one file at a time, which is really time consuming.

So changing the default would make things a lot easier. Thanks.

Questions / Re: How to "analyse volume" on "album basis" for a single?

Thank you so much Steven, it works so well! You're always so great about these things.

Questions / How to "analyse volume" on "album basis" for a single?
« on: April 12, 2020, 09:33:52 AM »
You can choose the default "replay gain" to none, smart gain, track gain only or album gain only.

I'd much prefer album gain only because it normalizes all songs the best out of all of the options.

But if I listen to a single, now my headphones are blown out because auto-analyse only analyses track gain if an album only has one song. Which means there's NO album gain tag for singles, making "album gain only" unusable.

And if I choose smart gain, then albums change volume way too much. A quiet intro song will have a track gain of +1.6db and the loud song right after will have -14.6db. Even though both songs have an album gain of -14.6db, smart gain will always use the highest volume of track/album gain for whatever reason.

WHY grey out "on album basis" in the analyse volume window when Musicbee prides itself on giving the user nearly unlimited options to tweak? It makes being able to choose default replay gain pointless since smart gain is the only barely usable option.

Am I missing something here?
