Questions / Auto-Playlist That Checks Genre and Path Folder
« on: February 07, 2020, 10:25:15 AM »
Hello,
I think this might be an easy one, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
I want to create an Auto-Playlist than checks both the Genre tag and the Path of the file (songs are stored in Genre folders), and show all the songs where the folder and the actual tag do not match.
Have you guys tried something similar? What am I missing?
Thanks.

Questions / Add an extra artist to already edited (and crowded) MP3s
« on: January 23, 2020, 10:43:51 AM »
First of all, sorry if I failed in finding an answer for this on the forum, I couldn't think of more ways to look for it.

The issue is that I want to add one artist to multiple tracks where the artists are different. I want to keep what's there and add one. If I do it the usual way, selecting all the songs and editing the multi-artist field, the previous artists get deleted.

I'm sure there's a way, but I can't think of one.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for this, Bee-liever.
And sorry for missing on your post and taking so long to answer, I'm having issues with the notifications.

All this works for me, it's so useful. You're a genius and very generous for taking all this time.

Also, the Grouping splitting is a terrific idea.

This is so appreciated, Bee-liever!!!!!!!!!

Tips and Tricks / Re: $SortAs function
« on: November 06, 2019, 10:23:46 AM »
I see know (with the sub-group sort working properly) that I don't need this.

If you use a virtual tag to display the sub-group heading, MB still uses the actual sourced tag for the sort.

I can add a new grouping tag, G#, and use the virtual tag
Code
$If($First(<Grouping>)="G1","Studio Albums",$First(<Grouping>)="G2","Live Albums",etc...

and MB will sort them as:

Albums
Live Albums
EP
Singles
Compilations
V/A Compilations
Bootlegs
Video
Miscellaneous

Bloody fantastic!

Oh, man, I can't make it work!!

I'm trying a lot of things but non of them work, it's so frustrating.

There's something in your post that's obvious for you and apparently not so obvious for me and my knowledge.

Sorry to waste your time, Bee-liever.

I'm also interested in this. I had the exact same idea, Petrž (although I named it 'Release Type').

I'd love to be able to do that.

Maybe there's a way using RegEx and Virtual Tags, but it's out of my reach so far.

Bee-liever, I can see you have achieved something that I haven't been able to.

I see you use the year tag the same way as me, in the format 03/04/2016.
My albums doesn't get sorted correctly this way though.

But I see you have made a custom tag named "Release Sort Index".
Well, I haven't had any success creating a custom tag for that purpose.
I would appreciate any tips on how to do it.

Thanks!

"Release Sort Index" is the date in reverse order. 03/04/2016 becomes 20160403.
I find it especially useful with older releases where you can sometimes track down the month but not the day of a release.
You can only put a year into the year tag with that but with "Release Sort Index" I can also use the month. eg. 19420400.

One of these days I'm going to work out how I can enter the date in ISO 8601 format (YYYY-MM-DD) and get the Additional Tagging Tools plugin to automatically fill in both the "Year" and "Release Sort Index" tags!
Thank you very much

Questions / Re: Songs are not getting sorted by year?
« on: October 25, 2019, 08:23:11 AM »
I'm facing this same issue.
The thing is that when sorting with 'year' instead of year(yyyy)', the sorting is still wrong, since it doesn't understand the days, months and years, it just sorts alphabetically. If the dates are 04/04/1999 and 01/07/2014, MusicBee thinks that 01/07/2014 goes first because it starts with 01 and the other 04.

Questions / Re: Group by Album Artist, Sort by Year
« on: October 25, 2019, 08:12:26 AM »
Thanks for your answers.

What you're both talking about works on the Main Panel, my question was about the left panel known as Thumbnail Browser though.
Whenever I use grouping by Artist or Album Artist, it's automatically get sorted by name, and Sort/Year gets dark and you can't select it.

I was wondering if there's a way to overcome this.

Hi!

Thank you :)

Here is a screenshot of the thumbnail browser: https://imgur.com/iXtXOD4

What I would love to do is to have the same configuration but with albums sorted by date.

It might not be possible though.

Thank you very much.

I have this very same issue.

If you have it grouped by artist while showing albums, sorting by year won't work.

(what redwing suggests doesn't work, if you select that, you lose the grouping)

Does anyone smarter than me know how to achieve this? I don't mind if I need and add-on, or change whatever.

Thank you!
