Beyond MusicBee / Re: Reference Site for Artist/Recording Details
« on: November 02, 2023, 07:31:20 PM »
Hey, sorry for bumping. Can you guys recommend me something for recording at home? I want to start exploring independently, but I don't know where to start...

I began home recording about two years ago but only recently found some valuable insights. Be patient and experiment until you're satisfied with the sound and setup.

Investing in a quality condenser mic makes a huge difference. Experiment with placement and settings, and find the sweet spot. Good noise-isolating headphones are a must for clear sound. Check out this article for more home recording tips.

I know; it's an unrealistic and selfish request.

'Queue next' would still mean skipping to the next song. Usually I would apply this to a playlist I have on hold on the side.

Feel free to disregard this. I just felt like putting the idea out there, because it's quite a unique function, being able to play two tracks at the same time or have a list on hold at the side, with minimal interference between the two.

Plugins / Re: Music Scheduler
« on: October 06, 2018, 01:49:17 PM »
I downloaded this one today:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/5ki9tuuqvbmvsqn/mb_MusicScheduler_2018-05-29.zip

I cannot set any tasks within this scheduler. This error log appears any time I press "Apply" or "OK".

MusicBee Wishlist / Double players / alternate 'Now Playing'
« on: October 06, 2018, 10:29:01 AM »
I'm thinking something along the lines of a DJ 'dual turntable'.
This is not my actual use for it: I know there is professional equipment and software for such uses.

My issue is that sometimes, for example, I would have a playlist or a shuffled queue on hold (paused), but want to quickly listen/browse through a single or couple tracks while I'm editing something, without losing the current queue. Using the 'play next' function doesn't really work with me, since it means skipping the current track or such / fiddling around with the queue in my experience gets quite fiddly.
Maybe an secondary 'now playing' Panel which isn't synced to the main MB player control could be constructed for temporary playing of tracks alongside the main queue.
I'm sure people will just recommend using another 'quick music player' like WMP or something to listen to a single file, but generally other players take a while to load up, and MusicBee is, well... already there, and will be able to access the track quite quickly.

Maybe some people would also use it as a DJing tool.

Since it seems to me that this would be quite a task and not many people might use it, I'm not really suggesting this be in the next version or whatever, but maybe someone can make a plugin that works well. Just my little side wish.

General Discussions / Re: So how big is your music library?
« on: October 06, 2018, 10:12:54 AM »
My main library is 3,808 files, 52.5 GB. There are a lot of songs and soundtracks, and roughly 24.5GB is flac (833 files).

I switched from iTunes to MusicBee at the start of 2017, but back then I had no flacs, and maybe half or a third the number of files. MusicBee was by far superior in speed (starting up, running, processing/tagging). It's always had the tiniest bit of unpredictability in whether it starts on command (might take a couple clicks of the icon before it chooses to display the start-up).

I have it sitting in the background 99% of the time in Compact Player view, having assigned CTRL+SHIFT+M to switching between compact and main view, because I do this frequently.
However, since I have recently been steadily adding to my library from what was once 10GB to >50Gb, I have noticed that when I switch from compact into main view, it has taken longer to properly display (windows stays white for a couple seconds while it prepares itself.
I am also not sure if this is the doing of my larger library or the major update that I installed (from mid-2017 to August 2018 I did not update).
Also, recently it has been crashing more frequently, usually if I'm editing a large number of tags or converting a large number of files.

Bug Reports / Re: Lyrics line breaks aren't displayed
« on: September 19, 2018, 09:00:37 AM »
Well, hentrop, I encountered these issues maybe half a year ago, so not within this version. I'm not sure whether it happened for most people, and haven't had this issue since (since I haven't used iTunes lyric editing since), so it may have been a way the past version dealt with iTunes lyrics that they don't now.
tbh though, having the double line breaks turn into single line breaks in lyrics viewer mode was probably what happened for me too, it's just that when there was a double line break in editing mode, then it did show.
I just remember having to redo all my lyrics myself by locating those tiny little spaces or remembering where line breaks were, deleting those spaces and putting new line breaks in. Hopefully Steven fixes this issue soon for those who struggle with it, if it's a small fixable thing.

Mmm I also experienced this when I moved from iTunes to MusicBee, and I manually re-did all my lyrics.

What actually happens is that the first line break (if originally done by iTunes) gets condensed into a tiny little space, that is shorter/thinner than a usual space and usually placed at the start of the next line if it contains text, and if there are two line breaks, it condenses the first one, and shows the second one. This is what you see if you look at lyrics through the Tag editor (i.e. right click -> edit -> lyrics tab).

However, if you view lyrics through the Lyric viewer which can be used as a floating window or as a side tab (preferences -> layout (tab 2) -> arrange panels (top right), it actually shows the full lyrics without condensing those line breaks.

Not saying it's not an issue, just saying that when editing, MusicBee shows the line breaks funny, but when viewing using a conventional lyrics viewer tab without being in editing mode, it shows them just fine.

Questions / Bug from latest version regarding Auto-pick panel colours
« on: September 18, 2018, 03:12:38 PM »
Not sure if a bug or intended.
When toggling "Auto-pick panel colours" ON for player panel at bottom, no issue.
When toggling OFF, MusicBee 'crashes' or unexpectedly quits, then restarts after a few seconds. Only when toggling OFF.
No error message, nothing in error log.
Other than quitting and restarting, doesn't seem to have any other adverse effects.

Am running Windows 10 on an HP Pavilion.
Happens no matter what type of progress bar I use (though I usually use the wave bar).

Thanks!
