General Discussions / Re: Sound Quality VS VLC Media Player
« on: December 28, 2020, 06:03:53 PM »
Musicbee requires at least 24hrs to burn in. Give it some time.

On a more serious note why not record the output from each player in something like audacity and overlay the results. Bet you my pension you can't see a difference.

Beyond MusicBee / Re: EQ do you use them?
« on: November 28, 2020, 07:09:28 PM »
For the longest time I wouldn't use EQ because I believed it wasn't audiophile, these days I realise it's more about enjoying the music than adhering to hard rules about what's right or wrong. Anyway some days I like a low shelf filter because the music sounds harsh without it; other days I feel like it sounds muddy so naturally I turn it off.

I have 3 audio devices attached to my PC. One of which is a USB headphone amp that I always unplug when not in use. If I remove said device and check which device MB has selected in preferences. A different device to the one that is actually now playing is selected. I know this because the device that "appears" to be selected device does not have any output physically connected to it yet I can still hear music playing through my speakers.

It might be useful to know that I always use WASAPI exclusive event mode therefore this is unlikely to be a Windows audio device routing thing.

Last minute edit: MB seems to default to selecting the first item in the drop down box(default behaviour of the control?).

Questions / WASAPI and Windows volume control
« on: July 30, 2019, 04:00:15 AM »
I recently noticed that while using MB and WASAPI (exclusive) that the Windows volume control is still functional. Is this the expected behavior? I assumed it would be bypassed.

Bug Reports / Inconsistent EQ sound.
« on: March 08, 2018, 11:38:57 PM »
If you select an EQ preset, although the sound changes slightly, the changes aren't properly implemented until you switch it off and then on again. Also switching tracks effects it too.

Try it with something like the loudness EQ that has a dramatic enough effect to be able to tell the difference.

Using MB 3.1.6512

MB doesn't appear to be able to find any new presets that I save and place in the usual EQ path. Presets I saved quite a while ago show up just fine.

Try the latest 3.1 patch (see my sig) and please report back.

Works okay with new patch but to be honest I only saw this error once in my years of using MB, I'l let you know if it surfaces again.

This happened just after I selected album art from the "search online for picture" results.

Bug Reports / Two Tracks Playing Simulaneously
« on: November 16, 2016, 05:03:49 PM »
I deleted an album from my library while one of the tracks was still playing. rather than stopping playback MB played another random track (4/11, shuffle wasn't active) from the album and notified me that it hadn't been deleted, fair enough, I should really have stopped playback first. I then proceeded to play another track from a different album to release the aforementioned one for deletion, at which time MB continued to pay the previous track and my new selection at the same time. Pause> play continued to play both tracks.

Not sure if it's relevant but my output device is wasapi.
