Thanks I had this same problem and it fixed it. Odd.

Still haven't found a solution, but I just noticed that the drive that my music files are now on is seen as a "Virtual Device". I know my previous HDD was seen "normally" by music bee and listed under "Computer". This drive is an internal HDD. Any ideas on why Musicbee is seeing it as a "Virtual Device"?It's more than likely because you went to Preferences>Devices>Add virtual device. Just unplug your hard drive , delete the virtual device in the devices menu in musicbee and then replug it back in wait a minute and it should pop up normally as whatever you named the HDD in your computer.
If I move the music files to one of my other hard drives that Musicbee shows as under "Computer", I don't have any issues tagging the art.
<edit>: I think I figured it out. I deactivated the Virtual Drive in the Devices tab under preferences, closed MB, and then re-opened. The new drive now shows properly under "Computer" and no more issues with adding the artwork.
