Questions / Dolby digital plus won't stay on while MusicBee is minimized

I'm having a frustrating problem: everytime Musicbee is minimized, or otherwise not the focused window in Windows 10, dolby digital plus turns off. Even when I turn it back on again, manually, it shuts down again once I navigate away from the window in which I changed the setting. If I return focus to the Musicbee program, it turns back on. Is there any known way to deal with this problem?

I'm using a Lenovo X1 thinkpad running Windows 10.
