Questions / Re: Musicbee + MusicIP Auto DJ
« on: January 21, 2016, 10:22:57 AM »
Ok then. I started searching for a simple(st) way to run XP on my Windows 10 system.
I found this by VMLite XP Mode and Windows XP Mode virtual machine from Microsoft.
VMLite virtual machine: http://www.vmlite.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=folder&Itemid=153
Windows XP mode: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=8002

There are several installation tutorials to be found out on the internet, VMLite also offers a guide:
http://vmlite.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&task=download&id=12%3Axpmhowto&Itemid=153

The VMLite XP Mode does not work flawlessly, I sometimes have to run it a few times before it starts (ignore the error/warning messages),
the networking part will not work fully (I just got NAT working).
But I installed Musicbee and MusicIP on the XP VM, copied over my MusicIP librabry and linked to my shared music folders on the Windows 10 host
(one must make a shared folder with exactly the same folder name as the one on the original system,
otherwise MusicIP won't find the music files and one would have to analyze all music over again, which is not going fast on the virtual machine I can say).

Now I am running Musicbee AutoDJ "using MusicIP mixer" again for hours and hours . . . :-)

Questions / Musicbee + MusicIP Auto DJ
« on: January 04, 2016, 12:45:15 PM »
Hi Steven or someone who might give a clue:

I'm a long time user of Auto DJ with the help of MusicIP (see also this thread http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3602.0)

Now over time my OS has changed from Windows XP, where it worked fine (Musicbee was able to find the MusicIP server all the time, which then presented matching tracks)
to Windows 7 to Windows 10. In Windows 7 a lot of times Musicbee was not able to find MusicIP and in Windows 10 this has even gotten worse.

When selecting "using Musicip" in Auto DJ I get the followoing message: "Unable to access Musicip Mixer - you need to allow MusicIP server access thru your firewall. Try again?"
Trying again and again until finally one time the 2 do get connected, but this does not hold for a long time, as most of the times after a few tracks "No tracks matching . . ." appears.

Disabling the firewall does not change anything in the behaviour.

Could anyone give me a clue as to what to change in the setup to also make this work in Windows 10 reliably?

Thanks and best regards, Gerard

PS. I know Musicip is not supported anymore today but my Musicbee version 2.0.4663 works to my satisfaction still. And maybe there is someone who has this same setup running with a simple patch that I am not aware of . . .
I've already tried other things like changing Musicbee's/MusicIp's OS compatibility settings, no success.

Plugins / Re: Last.fm Similar Artists/Tracks

Re: raffraffraff

That's the reason I stick to Musicbee 2.0.4663, with MusicIP selected as AutoDJ for continuous playing.
It's not ideal either but works to my satisfaction.
To have a visual link back to my library and discover a new band every now and then, I use the Recommendations plugin.

I have this comment:
sometimes an artist is playing a song together with another artist. I have the individual artist(s) in my music library, but it is not found as a similar artist.
Example: 'Marc Glenroy' shows the combo 'Ed Starink Peter Weekers' as a similar artist. I have 'Ed Starink' in my music library, but he is not shown . . .

Hi Steven,

Superb work as always  :) Thank you!
It works fine in Musicbee 2.0.4663.
A question: on some tracks I get a list of Similar Tracks returned, but on others none. But I do get Similar Artists all the time. Why is that?

I did not visit this forum a lot lately, Musicbee is already working great for me as it is.
So I was happily surprized to find this plug-in today, one from my wish list, fine work again from Stephen.
I had used Thorbjorn's webpage until now, which also worked OK.
I have 2 questions:
- like the previous poster: is it possible to configure the number of similar results?
- not all similar tracks shown are actually in my library. An indicator saying so with the found result would be nice.

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Simular Artist selection

Hi Thorbjorn,

Really nice to play around with. It is just not obvious from the list presented if a simular artist or track is actually present in the MusicBee library,
but the auto-update on track change I really like.
If this just could work inside MusicBee itself . . .

Hi,

Yes, I found this to do somewhat what I like, but:

1. it does not automatically update the playlist when the track changes. I have to press <F5> to see simular artists for the new track

2. if I select a track in the resulting simular artist overview, it would be great when the information in the details pane would change to those of the selected track (instead of sticking to the now playing track info)

3. if I Refresh several times, the result of simular artist changes every time. I think I would prefer to always have the same (top x?) result and presented in the same order. I found I can change the number of results anyhow in the settings of the Auto Playlist

4. In the Music Recommendations add-on in Songbird one gets a list with top 5 simular artists and an indication if they are already in your library. Clicking on the picture in the list takes you to a new TAB, showing the LastFM page. Clicking on the name takes you to a new TAB, showing all the artist's songs in your library. Very nice feature.

Thanks, Gerard

PS. I wanted to add a picture to the topic but do not see a button allowing this . . .

MusicBee Wishlist / Simular Artist selection

Earlier versions of Songbird had a function pane to view "Simular Artist" (up-to 5) and link thru to those artist's LastFM webpage, as well as to show a list of those artist's songs, if already in the library. I really liked that function, but it was not developed anymore.
Is something like that possible in MusicBee?

And a side question: is there an add-on showing MediaFlow of Album Art?

I started using MusicBee for it's stability and continuous development, as well as having most of the functions I like, but this I am still missing these features.

Regards, Gerard
