Questions / Re: Resample flac files on the fly during phone sync

@hiccup.  Thanks for the quick responses.  I was hoping there was something I wasn't seeing.  I will go with my converted library approach.

Yes, I do want to keep flac.

There did not seem to be any option to "down sample" doing the on the fly conversion when going flac to flac.

Questions / Resample flac files on the fly during phone sync
« on: December 22, 2021, 04:05:40 PM »
Long time Musicbee user but infrequent forum participant.

I have a pretty large music library almost exclusively flac.  I have a lot of hi-res files at 192K that I listen to on my desktop using WASAPI into a Schiit DAC and Amp.

I also used an LG V35 mobile as my portable listening device.  Since the LG had SD card support, I just synced the music directly to a 512gb SD card and I was on my way.

I am moving to a new Samsung S21 Ultra phone.  It's a nice phone but there is no SD card support so I only have about 180gb of space I can devote to music.

What I would like to do is to resample all of my 192K files down to 96K (maybe 44.1K) on the fly during the sync process to my phone.  I played with the on the fly conversion settings for the device and didn't see a way to make this happen.

The only thing I could think of doing would be to use a third party tool to resample the files in my sync playlist and create a separate library with the "optimized" files and sync from there.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Questions / Re: Using MusicBee EQ with WASAPI Exclusive

I did check it and I thought that I heard a difference but I wanted to be sure that I wasn't just hearing what I wanted to hear.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Questions / Using MusicBee EQ with WASAPI Exclusive
« on: January 03, 2021, 04:03:50 PM »
I am a long-time MusicBee user and I love it though I have only used this forum once and that was to place an enhancement request.

I have a relatively large library, almost exclusively flac files.  Quite a few are 96 and 192K.  I just got a new DAC, the Schiit Modius and it was recommended that it be connected to my Windows 10 desktop PC via USB and to use WASAPI Exclusive.

I have two different sets of headphones that I use most of the time.  Sennheiser HD6XX and Mitchell and Johnson JP1.  I also have a pair of ATH M40X that I don't use very often.

I understand that WASAPI Exclusive sends the raw data stream to the DAC without letting Windows "enhance" it.  My question is that if I use the EQ feature that is included in MusicBee, will the equalizations defined be applied in MusicBee before the stream is sent or just ignored.

MusicBee Wishlist / Multiple "On the Fly" Conversion Parameters
« on: February 06, 2016, 01:55:25 PM »
I've been using MusicBee for a while now (switch from iTunes) and I love it.  One thing that would really be great is if we could get support for multiple conversion parameter settings to use with "on the fly" format conversions while syncing.

I have 3 formats in my library.  The majority are flac files that I ripped myself from my CD and vinyl library.  I also have high quality lossy files in both aac and mp3 formats (downloads from iTunes and Amazon).

When I sync to my Android phone I would love to convert the flac and the high quality aac files to "pretty high" quality aac and the high quality mp3 (mostly 320)  files to pretty high quality VBR mp3s.

I originally had it set up to convert everything to aac and a lot of the mp3s had some issues (makes sense converting one lossy algorithm to another).  I switched over to convert all to mp3 and I had similar problems with files that were originally aac.

Right now I am handling it by maintaining a separate "sync" library that I manually convert all files in to.  It is a small PITA to keep it in sync with the main libarary.

Multiple conversion profiles would be awesome:-)

Thanks for you consideration
