Bug Reports / Links in Track Information panel open Music Explorer tab?
« on: December 31, 2020, 01:03:58 PM »
Hello, hello o/
I'm using version 3.4.7670 and no matter where I click/which link I click in the track information panel, it opens a Music Explorer tab instead of opening a tab in Chrome. It even happens if I try and rate a song. If I right click and the menu pops up, those links open correctly in Chrome. This also happened in 3.4.7663, but not in the version I had before that (which was probably a few months old? sadly I deleted it and it's not on my backup drive). Hopefully that makes sense.

Questions / Re: Artist name wrong in the library
« on: December 12, 2017, 11:51:34 PM »
I think I see what your problem is, look at the image below. As you can see, in my library "8Ball & MJG" is replaced with "8Ball and MJG" and as a result has zero plays. The "and" version of their name is not anywhere in my tags. So it's not MusicBee's fault, it's the fault of wherever the artist biography is being pulled from. I'm not sure where that is though.

Questions / Re: Tagging Feature Proposed Addition
« on: May 26, 2017, 08:27:44 PM »
In the additional tagging tools plugin, one of the presets lets you add custom text to the beginning of a tag. That sounds like what you are looking for.

Another preset is "Combine tags <1> & <2> and write in <3>. So you could add "Composer" & "Title" and write to "Composition".
But that could mean your Composition tag would have "Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony #9" instead of your desired output, depending on what's in your Composer tag.
Luckily it has a preview option so you can see the changes before you save.

Now that my system has finished getting on my nerves… Nah, no need to add to the wishlist since your solution works. As always, thanks for the help Steven & phred.

Bug Reports / Custom web link error.
« on: May 10, 2017, 03:20:39 PM »
I get this error when I click on a particular custom weblink:

MusicBee v3.1.6338.35797 (Win10.0), 10 May 2017 10:08:

Information:
The tag is stored in custom tag Website.
Setup as <Website> in one of the custom web links section.
Text contained in tag resembles https://terrihendrix.bandcamp.com i.e. only a website link.
The other customs web links work fine, it's just this one with only a website that gives me the error.
I have it set to open links in my browser.
In testing, I plugged the website tag into my last.fm web link: http://www.last.fm/music/<Website>/<Album> and it will (poorly) search while not giving the error, so I don't think it's the tag itself?

Bug Reports / Re: (Solved, I'm an idiot) Ghost genres in autocomplete.
« on: April 16, 2017, 03:24:23 PM »
Okay, so I decided to search the MusicBeeLibrary.mbl file for the ghost genres and found one. It was located in a video file. I usually search "local node only" which is music so it never checked the video node. All the "ghost" genre's were in my video files. I.am.such.an.idot!
Thanks for your help Steven, phred and psychoadept. Sorry for wasting your time.

Yes. I've restarted a few times but they seem to persist.

well MB isnt randomly making up genres. What it will be is the auto-complete list is based on all files MB knows about, even ones not in the library
Sorry, I forgot to mention that. The ghost genres were valid before I changed them to the correct one. Usually in other autocompletes the no longer used values are removed, for some reason the ones in genre seem to stay.
If you want to remove those phantom genres, do a custom search of the genre category using the exact spelling of the ones you don't want. When MB returns the tracks with those genres, delete or correct them. When there are no more files with the phantom tags, they won't show up in the auto-complete drop-down.
I've tried that, they aren't showing up. Maybe there are some multi-genre files somewhere. I'll do some more re-scanning/searching to see if I can find the files.

I'm using 3.1.6314 and when using autocomplete on genre, the drop-down menu shows ghost entries.
They don't appear in the column browser.

Questions / Re: How to Reset Playcounts
« on: March 24, 2017, 03:52:35 PM »
It's been a while since I've done this but it should still work. Select all files, tools, tagging tools, reset play count. After it finishes close MusicBee, in Windows Explorer go to c:(or whatever drive letter)\users\(username)\appdata\roaming\musicbee\internalcache and rename lastfmplaycountcache.dat from .dat to .old. When you open MusicBee again it should update the files using the correct last.fm account.
If it's successful you can go back and delete the .old file.

This is assuming it's a full install, if it's a portable one, the file should be in the installation folder under AppData\InternalCache.

Questions / Re: Sorting Folders by Release Type

Crap, sorry about that. I should probably stop interfering in these things before I screw up somebody's files.

Okay, so then you have to create it first.

In case you haven't done it before:
Edit, Preferences, Tags (1), custom tags, define new tags.
In an empty slot under identifier, type Release Type then press tab and see it fill in the others.
Save, then under custom tags choose a slot and change custom(whatever#) to Release Type and instead of "save to MusicBee database only" choose Release Type and save.

After it scans your files, you should then be able to use the <Album Artist>\<Year (yyyy)>\<Release Type>\<Album>\<Disc-Track#> <Title> format.

You can use any valid tag to create a template.

Please note that release types are already tagged in files…

What tag is this?
You can use it like: <Album Artist>\<Year (yyyy)>\<ReleaseTypeOrWhateverTagIs>\<Album>\<Disc-Track#> <Title>

How long are you waiting between saving and trying to play?
