I have my library sorted by artist but I like to play by album - switching to a new album whenever one ends.

The thing is, when it plays an album by an artist I have multiple albums for, it just switches through all their albums. So it'll play random albums and then if it hits an artist like Bowie (who I have 15 albums for) it'll go through all his albums before switching to a new artist.

How can I have it play different albums regardless of artist - but still keep my library sorted by artist? Is there a way?

Further info, here's a tutorial about finding direct stream URLs from stations on the TuneIn website:

http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Play_TuneIn_radio_stations_through_MusicBee

It worked as of a few months ago.  Don't know if TuneIn has changed anything since then.

I just tried this and it doesn't work for me.

Do a google search to find out the url for the stream. Once you have the url, right-click on 'radio' in the navigator and fill in the information.

Thank you!

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd like to use musicbee to play some of my favourite radio stations such as the BBC ones. It's possible in apps like Tunein so I was just wondering if I'd missed something in musicbee.

Right now Musicbee only allows me to search by genre, but I can't find BBC stations in any of the tabs (shoutcast, icecast, soma, etc). Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Just saw this, so not sure if it's actually that new, or if this is the right place for it, but seems like Musicbee is finally taking its rightful place on the throne. http://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-free-music-player

Makes me wonder how many people actually use it. Has Steven ever given any indication of user or download numbers?

Questions / Re: [SOLVED] Lost with double click album cover (Newest version)
« on: September 11, 2017, 08:56:14 PM »
By default a single click expands the album tracks, so i dont get why anyone would additionally need the ability to double click to acheive the same.
And if you disable showing the tracks on a single click, then the option to double click to show the album tracks is still there

Well for me personally the single click was really for playing purposes. To open an album and select tracks, or see how far into the album I was . Also just the nicety of seeing the album art more largely in a coloured preview pane.

I used the 'album and artists' view for editing purposes, usually in my inbox, to 'auto tag by album' and such (especially since it sometimes didn't work in the main view). In fact, the reason I just recognised this had been removed was that I couldn't select 'auto tag by album' from the expanded panel view. I've since taken the advice you gave above, removing the expanded panel and instead using double click > album and artists, and it worked.

My preview settings were also very simple, track names, times, and thats it. The album and artists view I had a lot more detail in columns such as bitrate, file location, etc.

Anyway, I just think it was an elegant way to have a good looking simple preview for playing, and an easily-accessed more detailed view for editing.

Edit: Just to add another reason, in this current form where I need to click through each time to check an album's tracks or access things that were previously in the right-click menu (send to, tagging, etc), I'm basically going to have to hit the back button a lot, or use the right click for pretty frequent functionality like playing a specific track within an album. It makes browsing through my albums much clunkier than before, where having the expanded panel for quick playing, browsing, looking at individual tracks was so much more efficient. Especially across a large collection (and with as fickle taste as me!)

I'm so disappointed to hear that's gone now. It was fundamental to the way I used musicbee. I'm curious why it's gone.

That's actually what I do, play entire albums shuffled. But I guess this would work for any sorting, Album, tracks, artists, etc (just for me, it's artists and their albums in the expanded view). I'd just like a little unpredictability when I open the player to help me pick stuff I might not usually see, particularly since I have a pretty big collection, and it takes a while to scroll through it all.

9
I usually just hit play on the first thing that catches my eye when I open musicbee, and more often than not it's stuff closer to the top of the player (sorted by artist pics). I have to consciously scroll down to mix it up.

I just wondered if it was possible to have the player open up at a random spot each time I open musicbee, so that it's a bit quicker and easier to find some variety.

Is it possible to make musicbee use some other service for tags in the meantime? Are any other services as good as musicbrainz?

Questions / Sort listened subscription last in 3.0?

Is the listened podcast sorting option just not available in 3.0? Or has it been moved?

MusicBee Wishlist / Re: Choose formats to convert when syncing player

I've used rockbox for a while and to be honest, I really didn't like it. Some of the extra features are cool, but the menus and navigation were so poor, I though, no matter which theme I tried. I think the stock firmware is much more usable and cleaner. Maybe I will give it another shot, though.

MusicBee Wishlist / Choose formats to convert when syncing player
« on: November 25, 2015, 01:08:54 PM »
I have a sansa clip which can pretty much play anything except m4a files. Sometimes podcasts or other files I download are in that format, and there's no option to just convert m4a files without converting everything (flac, ogg, etc) to mp3.

It would be nice to choose just those formats which are incompatible to be converted when syncing, as many players usually have just one or two that they can't play (some ipods can't play flac, for example).

Beyond MusicBee / Re: What headphones do you like/use?

Hi to everyone, I am a recent convert to MB having defected from Mediamonkey, and am finding it very refreshing.

Headphones - bought a pair of Sennheiser HD600 and greatly regretted it.  Plenty of detail but completely bland and uninteresting.  Got a pair of Grado SR125s.  Polar opposites.  Typical Grado signature.  Not particularly detailed and not neutral but they are very musical and really do let you engage with the music for a not-especially-expensive pair of headphones.  Both those are some years old and recently for mobile listening I got a pair of RHA MA750 earbuds and liked them so much I got a pair of RHA T20s.

I completely agree with you about those Sennheisers. I've used a lot of them and every single one (apart from those DJ ones) sounds like that - really detached, distant, and boring. I think a lot of people mistake sounding boring for being neutral, hence their reputation as audiophile equipment - although I always warn people off them when I can.

Ok cool. I usually just retag the whole album again to fix it, but the rescan sounds quicker. Thanks for the quick response!
