Bug Reports / Re: MusicBee auto closes at the end of a DSD song

One "niggle" - neither the spectrum visualizer nor the volume visualizer work for DSD files only (they work fine for PCM files).  The wavebar works just fine for both DSD and PCM files.
That suggests the bits are going directly to the DAC without being interrogated by visualizers.

Is there a more recent or a more definitive topic about using MusicBee with 'hi-res' formats with tips and tricks for getting the most from sacd /.dsf /dsd etc with high end DACs?

I found a workaround using Foo ASIO from within MusicBee to my D10, have now got a D50s and can't come up with the right combo of settings to get it to work reliably with the world's greatest music player MusicBee

Questions / Re: Casting MusicBee from PC to Chromecast - UPDATE

I have now found the best solution for me, better for me than Bubble etc, more reliable, transparent.

Install audio-cast (https://github.com/acidhax/chromecast-audio-stream/releases)

Have used it before but had not realised that I can select as many or as few devices as I want. It doesn't see groups but that's no problem. Just tick any or all of your devices including TVs

Best of all it it automatically casts all the Windows audio,  it's invisible to MusicBee (computer standard audio still works at same time as cast), Musicbee's crossfade and dsp all work

I saw a song in the library that I wanted to listen to so I right-clicked and i chose "Play next".

It wasn't played next, instead a song that I'd chosen a few minutes earlier with the same right-click menu was played first.

WHICH IS ONE OF TONS OF REASONS THAT I LOVE THIS SOFTWARE  :-*

Steven Mayall you are a genius, because that is exactly how it should work, putting the "play nexts" into their own subqueue. It's the logical way. It's the way it would work on a jukebox.

I saw this behaviour years ago when I first started using MusicBee and I appreciated it then. Everything starts to make sense the more you use MusicBee.

It is obvious that Steven uses MusicBee to manage and play a lot of music. The functionality shines through.

Just wanted to post some additional appreciation

Anyone got it to work with speaker groups?

I'm running a new Google Home speaker with several Chromecasts. For anyone who is interested in it for audio it's pretty good for multi-room as you can group Chromecasts together. I have Chromecast audio and Chromecast video. Can't group the video ones though afaics

I can, for example say

"Ok Google play Radio X on bedroom speaker" or

"Ok Google play Radio X on kitchen speaker" or

"Ok Google play Radio X on office speaker" or

"Ok Google play Radio X on Google Home speaker" or

"Ok Google play Radio X on Home Group" or

"Ok Google play Radio X on Music Group" etc

I have to get MusicBee involved, even if Google Home will play playlists curated and auto created by MusicBee I will be very happy :)

If you were to rate your music as 5 star for love and 0 star / bomb for ban would that help in any way?

To better illustrate what I mean, notice in the settings for this Podcast that "remember playback posiiton"
is already ticked. Makes sense as Podcasts tend to be longer than music tracks

I'd like "do not crossfade" ticked by default.

I'd also like, but think it's a bigger ask, to be able to set default volume adjustment and equaliser for Podcasts too.

I leave crossfade on all the time because I love the way it works with music. MusicBee has a clever setting to automatically turn off cross-fading for tracks from the same album. I'd like to see that extended to Podcast Episodes and Audiobook Chapters.

The Equaliser and Volume Adjustments would be even more useful if it was possible to set a different default EQ and Volume Adjustment depending whether content was spoken word or music.

I suppose it could be possible to set EQ by genre, or would that be going to far? What do others think?

Questions / Crossfading
« on: December 21, 2017, 06:11:55 PM »
Crossfading in MusicBee works very well, being able to set a flag so that tracks from the same album don't crossfade is brilliant for non-stop / gapless albums.

Is there a way to tell MusicBee not to crossfade chapters in audiobooks and episodes of podcasts?

Questions / Content Defaults

How do I set defaults by content type?

I listen to Podcasts and to Music (sometimes listen to Audiobooks)

Music is always louder - or rather it sounds louder.

Is it possible to tell Podcasts to always play with a plus volume or to always use a certain Equaliser Preset by default?

I would love to get my genres sorted out, made the same mistake with Last FM.

I just need to separate dance, rock, pop, ballads with reasonable accuracy and I'd be happy.

You doing it with MusicBrainz?

I now better appreciate the difficulties.

Storage being as cheap as it is I think I'll just retain several copies of the relevant tracks. Thanks for your replies.

Trying to find a way to handle data redundancy.  Is it possible for the MusicBee database to link to the same mp3 file more than once? So that you can have the same song on more than one album without needing more than one copy of it?

Love to find one that quickly queried an online database and tagged the year for me, be useful for songs that are otherwise well tagged and don't need me to help with album title or provide acoustic fingerprint
