Bug Reports / Error when starting playback
« on: January 27, 2021, 03:37:53 PM »
I'm not 100% sure how to replicate this bug, but it appears to happen when I'm using Music Explorer to listen to an artist, then go back to my main library view and press "Play Library Shuffled." I think I need to listen to some music for a while before going back to full library shuffle for this error to appear. As I said, I can't replicate it consistently, but it seems to happen when I do the steps described above.

Questions / Music Explorer "Appears On"
« on: November 21, 2020, 06:29:00 PM »
Is it possible to have Music Explorer set up to sort by album artist whilst also having the "Appears On" [album X] at the same time? I prefer to have a cleaner library with the Album Artist tag, but the Appears On (which you see by sorting by Artist) looks really great and I would love to have it, particularly now as it in the latest version it appears as a separate section in the music explorer.

Bug Reports / Musicbee stops responding
« on: November 21, 2020, 05:35:52 PM »
In my configuration I have set Track Information to be always on in the right sidebar. When I try to access the settings "Customize Layout", MB freezes completely. I can still use media keys, visualizer works, etc. However, mouse control doesn't work at all, I cannot click on anything in MB, and I have to kill the app in Task Manager to restore functionality. Best I can describe it is that there's an invisible settings window that I would have to close. Pressing ESC doesn't help.

Bug Reports / Error during search
« on: September 03, 2020, 09:04:57 PM »
MB 3.4.7546
To replicate on my config,
1. Have a song playing
2. Use the search tool to search for music, the search term has to exclude the song that is playing. E.g. Listen to Eminem search for Metallica. The playing album should not be visible in the library.
3. Press "locate playing track at source" on the progress bar.
4. MB will change tabs to open the library in a new "instance" and freeze.

After this it is possible to just go back to the main library tab and continue normally. The search bar will be empty and only the albums/artists/songs previously searched are visible. It is normally clickable. To escape this issue, type anything into the search bar and delete it to reset. After the search has been reset finding the playing track at source works normally again (unless the aforementioned steps are taken again).

The tab that MB creates to find the currently playing song pops up an error every time it is clicked:

Code
MusicBee v3.4.7546.28938D  (Win6.1), 3 Sep 2020 22:57:

MusicBee Wishlist / Non 1:1 album art is stretched
« on: May 06, 2020, 11:53:12 AM »
When a user uses "Album covers" (or a custom view that is similar), has albums with art that is more tall than wide, and in the view configuration "overlay fields inside the artwork" is chosen, the art is stretched to match the 1:1 space MB gives for album art. Due to how the scaling works, the visual defect is only noticeable with art that is noticeably skewed with dimensions (think DVD art vs. CD art).

Albums that are more wide than tall are not affected. They are shown normally with some grey space above the art.

Windows 7, MB 3.3.7367

I updated MB to 3.3.7310 a few weeks ago. I am running W7, so no store version here.

Anyway, I noted these strange bugs or issues when scrolling through songs quite rapidly. When I look at upcoming tracks I see for example songs, A, B, C, D, and E. A track is playing, I hit skip next up is B, but MB skips song B and shows that it is playing C. Yet I can hear both songs B and C playing. I can reproduce this issue consistently by just skipping tracks.

There is also a second issue which occurs when also skipping tracks repeatedly. An error pop-up pops up, but I cannot read it as MB freezes and the Windows "MusicBee has stopped working" error opens.

This is the latest error in the log, but if I remember correctly my GPU driver crashed causing MB to close. Nevertheless, I don't remember seeing the errors I'm describing in this post occuring at the time mentioned in the following error message.
Code
27.02.2020 09:46:21 - 6.1.7601.65536 - 3.3.7310.31925D - System.IO.InvalidDataException: Found invalid data while decoding.

Edit: Just as I posted and continued to try and replicate the freezing bug, I did manage to get an error about the "sound output locking up". This could be the error popup that I mentioned earlier, as the popup window is roughly the same size. However, when MB freezes "hard" the error popup isn't "loaded" so I cannot read it.

Also as further info on the first bug (two tracks at the same time), if I press previous track button, B-song will play (as in the right track after song A).

8
How I managed it:

1. Have songs shuffled as random
2. Change shuffle to highest rated first
3. Queue a song from the upcoming tracks list

Now the now playing tab is completely screwed, and I cannot open it again. When trying to open now playing, I get this error every time:

Bug Reports / Can't search for lyrics
« on: May 06, 2019, 05:28:09 PM »
After downloading the latest version of MB (specifically 3.3.7065) I can no longer search for lyrics. MB will automatically search once, but when pressing "search next provider" the lyrics might flash a bit, but nothing will change. It seems that the "searching" text prints for a frame or a few, and then the original lyrics are back.

I have LyricsReloaded enabled and disabled to no effect, I also updated LR to latest version.

Edit: Forgot to mention, there are no errors in the log (latest is from 26.04.2019), nor any errors pop up.

Questions / Pruned tracks
« on: January 30, 2019, 02:16:31 PM »
I was about to make a bug report on the "pruned tracks" setting. If you have the setting ticked on and listen to a playlist, MB will eventually only play a single track from that playlist due to the old tracks being removed.

I thought about the setting and realized it's actually doing exactly its job. I began thinking about it some more and I can't figure a reason why I would even have it turned on in the first place. What's the point of the setting?

The only point I can figure out is if I have a library-wide shuffle on, by having the prune tracks setting on I wouldn't listen to the same tracks again until I reshuffled. The other use I suppose would be to avoid listening to the same song again if you have a small playlist.

However I have nearly 5000 individual tracks, I don't know anything about the MB logic on shuffling and how long the memory is. In other words would MB play the same song (assuming it doesn't exist as a copy on another album) again in some timespan that is LESS than my whole library's overall lenght? Does the prune feature even matter when playing ALL tracks from the library?

Bug Reports / Extra spaces between lyrics
« on: January 21, 2019, 12:27:24 PM »
When searching for lyrics in the Tag Editor under the Lyrics tab, MB will add a space between each lyric sentence. Initially the lyrics look normal, but after they are saved and re opened the spaces appear. Doing a search from the MB main screen (lyrics as a panel?) works normally.

Portable Devices / Resizing issue
« on: January 09, 2019, 02:34:33 PM »
When syncing a device, MB will resize album artwork randomly if the custom file name option is used. When using "copy to folder.jpg" MB will copy the original artwork without resizing.

The custom name doesn't seem to matter, 'cover' '<album>' and even 'folder' names will all result in MB resizing the artwork.

The resizing seems to be random, or at least I can't figure a pattern in it. Two albums by the same artist both with artwork at 1400px one gets synced as 400px and the other as 350px. Another albums art at 1024px is resized into 374px.

Questions / Changes to ASIO?
« on: October 23, 2018, 06:14:03 PM »
I recently updated to the latest 3.2.6869 version to see if a scrobble problem was fixed, however I noticed that on quiet songs I would get clicking noises when using ASIO as output. Particularly they are noticeable in quiet songs, probably because they're easier to hear. I reverted back to 3.2.6827 and so far I can't hear the clicks or pops.

Maybe it's placebo, I'm trying to see if the problem is with my config. The clicks don't appear in the same spots on a track, so I'm quite certain that the source files are okay.

Bug Reports / Full album scrobbles for single tracks
« on: October 23, 2018, 08:06:51 AM »

As you can see I have listened to the tracks on the album 19 times, but MB applies Play count 19 to all tracks. I fully expect the problem comes from the slightly unorthodox track titles and album title.

First track is ".----" which is in morse code "1". Album has six tracks in total all 'written' in morse, plus the album title itself.

Questions / Conditional fields
« on: August 03, 2018, 07:45:19 PM »
Basically how can I show in track information that file X is a 24/16bit file when applicable, and then only show <Kind> for tracks that do not have bit depth information (MP3 vs FLAC for example)?

I believe it is possible since I've seen (long ago) someone scripting something that used track data to output different data depending on the track properties.

At the moment I have a simple "<Bit Depth> bit <Kind>" string that outputs "24/16 bit FLAC audio file" for example.  However the few MP3's I have are outputted as " bit MPEG audio file". This is a minor nuisance at best, but I'd like to see how I can code the "<Bit Depth> bit " part of the script only show up for FLAC files.

Thanks in advance.
