General Discussions / Best settings for Player
« on: January 14, 2023, 03:33:47 PM »
Despite the history on the forum concerning the DLNA plug in Its working OK for me. My question is in the player settings for output and sound device does the choice have any effect on the sound quality of the file being sent. I have mine set as direct sound and primary sound driver. thanks

Questions / airplay installation
« on: November 26, 2022, 05:30:00 PM »
I'm having trouble understanding the instal. In the player preferences I can see the remote speakers output, but can't see it in the
output to drop down box, so I don't know how to send a file via airplay. The configure box is showing all 3 of my airplay devices. Am I missing part of the instal like a player or something?

thanks  :-[

General Discussions / How do you people listen to your Music using MB
« on: March 21, 2021, 02:06:50 AM »
I have posted similar questions before particularly with regard to DLNA support, and we all know where that ended.
So what I am asking is with MB being  the best music manager free or not  how are you people listening to your MB organised music library. PC Speakers, USB leads to amplifiers, headphones, network? You are all listening some way so TELL ME!

« on: March 02, 2021, 09:15:24 PM »
I've noticed recently if i put a list of tracks on now playing it plays all of them OK but after they have all played it leaves the last track on now playing as the first track. I then can't clear it  and have to include it as the first track on a new player list. a bug maybe  thanks

Questions / DLNA Miracle (almost)
« on: May 20, 2018, 09:10:52 PM »
If moderator needs to move this post then please do.
I have not used MB for a while as it would not play flac files to my Cambridge streamer. Reluctantly I moved to JRiver as Steven could not spend the time on any more development. I said in several posts this was a shame as MB was and still is the best.
So imagine my surprise and delight when after a firmware update on my streamer (mainly to stream Tidal but also other minor bug fixes) I checked out MB and found it will now play flacs. However now there is a bug on the Cambridge for all DLNA software where it will only play one track and not to move on to the next. Cambridge are aware of this and are promising a fix and have told me that once done there is no reason why I cant use MB to send flacs to the streamer.
So I am very happy to have MB back. The point is that maybe a lot of the problems with DLNA are not necessarily down to MB's plugin but the ability of the hardware to communicate universally.

« on: January 24, 2017, 09:23:07 PM »

Questions / backup to network drive
« on: January 10, 2016, 02:33:40 PM »
I have backed up my music files and settings to a usb drive plugged into my Asus router. This worked OK and I can see my backups and play them etc. But when I go to backup again after adding some new files the backup process will start over again, i.e. MB will try to back up the entire library again.
Any help please will be great.

Questions / strange backup behaviour
« on: January 24, 2015, 10:54:42 PM »
Every time I back up my actual music files there is a small bunch of them which keep backing up.  I've executed backup and then immediately backed up again and these files are shown  being backed up again even though there obviously have been no additions since the last back up.
Any ideas please?

Questions / dlna to roberts 83i
« on: December 18, 2014, 12:41:27 AM »
Having installed the dlna plugin I can see my Samsung bdh6500 Blu-ray player and my pioneer wireless speaker but not my Roberts 83i. I have tried tweaking the plugin settings with no luck.
Its the Roberts that I mainly want to use.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks :)

Questions / aiff tag error?
« on: April 02, 2014, 10:59:46 PM »
When trying to edit tags for my aiff files I get a error message saying aiff tags not supported but the tags do seem to have been updated successfully.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

Questions / how do you listen to your music?
« on: March 28, 2014, 10:00:19 PM »
First let me say that Musicbee is the reason why I finally changed over from CDs to computer storage. I now have over 16000 songs on my hard drive and enjoy the flexibility and convenience musicbee gives me. However I quickly realized that playing a lifetimes worth of music ( I am 63) through PC speakers even with a bass woofer was just not good enough sound quality wise. How could I get my treasured collection over to my Arcam amp and floor standing speakers. Well I bought for £40 a little streaming device called a Lindy. It streams independent of WiFi and works most of the time OK. But I feel I could get better sound by spending more money on a decent  streamer or DLNA device but I think I'm right in thinking that these devices need to control the organization and playing of the music and won't work with Musicbee. I've tried Musicmonkey which will do the job but is just not up to scratch compared to MB. I'm sure you guys out there are listening to your music on good hifi using MB so what are your methods? I don't think a cable from the PC sound card is a good idea so some method of streaming while still having MB control the playing is what I want.

thanks ;)

In the encoder preferences there is portable device and file archiving options in the parameters but both have -i - -acodec alac [outputfile] set.
The files come converted as large files (like flacs) so I assume only the  file archiving option is set. What parameters do I need for portable device encoding?

MusicBee Wishlist / accessing allmusic etc.
« on: April 27, 2013, 07:39:19 PM »
Is it possible to lookup artists on allmusic etc by selecting an album or artist in the main column rather than having to get the contents in now playing first.
