Questions / Trying to close muscicbee but process stays open
« on: December 12, 2023, 05:08:33 AM »
This was already posted and replied to a few times a couple of years ago, but I am having the exact same issue...

MUSICBEE WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY but stays open in task manager.  And, NO, I do not have any fancy playlists or anything like that.  Just playing a single album, afterward IT WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY and then I go to play another album and since the 1st instance is still running in task manager, it will not continue to play other album.  I absolutely HAVE to go into TM and close the original process.

What gives here people...?

This should be a VERY simple fix by now years later, don't you think...?

Thank you!

Questions / Bit perfect playback with MusicBee and Topping E30...
« on: July 24, 2022, 09:23:40 AM »
Hello All!

For several months I've been using a lovely SMSL DO200 DAC which really surprised me at how good it sounded on my primary system (my very first DAC after 40+ years pretending to be an Audiophile :) )  And, using MusicBee exclusively I had it set to use the Wasapi Exclusive which completely bypassed Windows, the volume controls, everything.  So, it was perfect!

BUT... lately my USB input died on my SMSL and as an experiment I bought the Topping E30 from Amazon to give it a try since the reviews were very good.  But, for some odd reason, with the exact same settings in MusicBee, but now for the Topping (Wasapi Exclusive) for some bizarre reason the Windows volume control is NOT defeated.  I was reading somewhere that the drivers for the Topping somehow create its own volume control, even though I have the DAC set to 'Fixed Volume'

Is there anything I can do to get TRUE exclusive bit-perfect playback like I had with my SMSL but now with my Topping?  I really appreciate any input and help!

Thanks!

Questions / Playing dsf files...
« on: April 02, 2022, 05:02:01 AM »
Hello!  I KNOW this topic has been discussed in the past, and I did indeed read the posts that I could find.  I even found the post where the resolution and bit depth were not showing accurately on the DAC.  But, no matter what I try when I play dsf files using the WASABI (I know it's not spelled like that but I don't quite remember the word :)) Exclusive, the dsf file plays, but on the DAC (SMSL DO200 - both codec and DAC set in 'Event' mode) no matter what I do or change, the panel consistently shows a resolution of 88.x and no bit depth.

I tried, as others had with their DACs, selecting the ASIO codec, where I guess you CAN go in and specifically set it for playing raw DSD files, but the result is the same.  I'm not 'telling' MusicBee to convert to PCM or use DoP, so why is my DAC always showing a lower resolution of 88.x?

According to another post, I even replaced a number of the files with the 'Patch' provided.  No change.  The mystery of it is, I don't really know if I AM actually hearing the full DSD sound and the DAC is showing the wrong data, or if somehow MB IS converting the DSD to PCM (although with the WASABI codec I have no options at all) and that is what I am really hearing.

Since those other threads were several months old, has there been any clarification or update on the PRECISE settings to be able to play DSD (dsf) directly to your DAC and/or if there indeed is a bug and the correct, full resolution is simply not displaying accurately on the DAC?

Thanks kindly for any help and input!

Questions / Displaying the current resolution of a song playing...
« on: April 01, 2022, 09:26:17 AM »
WOW!  I THINK I just figured out how to have MusicBee play Hi Res SACD dsf files losslessly to my DAC!  :D

My DAC shows Hi Res 88.2, so I hope that is right.  But, I was wondering if there was a way to see on the player what the resolution is of a current song playing is.

Thanks!
