I have an issue where some artists show up repeatedly in the list of artists in the Music Explorer and Music tabs. So for example I have two entries for Ab-Soul, with one album listed in the first, one in the second.

There's no difference I can find in the way they're tagged; I've tried copying the artist name from one to the other repeatedly, they seem to be exactly the same. I've also tried removing these albums from the library and re-adding them, which also doesn't solve the issue. And I've noticed that the songs from the duplicate artist don't get synced to my phone, so it's a problem in that those albums essentially become impossible to sync.

This happens quite rarely, it doesn't affect many of the artists in my library, but I don't know of a good way of detecting when it is happening besides scrolling through the artist list looking for them manually, and I have no idea what's causing the problem or how to fix it. Any advice on figuring this out would be appreciated!

Questions / Files possibly deleted by the auto-organise library feature
« on: August 19, 2022, 06:29:40 AM »
I find the "Move files to organised folder" feature very helpful and always use it once I've got things properly tagged. So I thought I'd try out the "auto-organise media files" checkbox so I wouldn't have to remember to do this manually, but I've been having a problem with it.

It notified me just now that various files were no longer there and asked me whether I wanted to remove them from the library. I'm 100% sure those files were there before enabling this feature, and they were appropriately tagged—as I said, I already used the "organised folder" feature for my whole library before this without any problems—but now they are indeed gone: not there where they should be, not in the recycle bin, and if they've been moved to some other location, I can't find them. This is some full albums and some random tracks—I can't really discern any logic to it since the files are gone now, but maybe it affected files of a certain format? Just a guess though.

Another possibly relevant factor: I was syncing the whole library (~35,000 files) to my phone using the wired sync feature when this happened. Because it's such a large sync, I was doing it overnight, and when I woke up this morning I found my computer had gone to sleep, aborting the sync. So I'm wondering if the interaction of the sync, the auto-organise, and the computer interrupting them by going to sleep could have caused this somehow?

I could be misidentifying what's causing the problem, but it seems to have happened once I turned this feature on, so it's my best guess for now. If anyone has any other ideas what would have caused these files to disappear, please let me know. I've turned the auto-organise feature off now, anyway.

My other question: is there a quick way to see all the files in my library that seem to be missing? They're marked with that exclamation point warning symbol in the interface, but I would like a way of showing them all in one place so I can see which ones need fixing/redownloading rather than attempt to trawl through my library and find them manually.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Portable Devices / Issues syncing with Android (wired)
« on: April 01, 2022, 04:26:54 PM »
I use MusicBee to sync music to my phone, a Samsung A52S running Android 12. I use the wired option, I could never get the wireless syncing to work.

Until recently this usually went pretty smoothly, but now when I try to sync the process stops before it's complete, usually after just a few songs have been synced or even none. It doesn't say it's aborted, it just says "Completed", but obviously it hasn't actually completed the sync.

I did download an update on my phone last week, whereas I've made no recent changes to MusicBee settings, so I'd assume the problem is on the phone's end.

Anyone experienced the same issue or have any idea where to look for solutions?

Questions / Replacing track title with work and movement
« on: October 14, 2021, 09:53:43 PM »
Hi, I'm new to MusicBee (finally got rid of iTunes after getting an Android phone), and I like it a lot so far though I'm still figuring things out.

The only issue I'm having is with work and movement titles for classical music—specifically, they display fine in MusicBee itself but not on my phone (in Samsung Music). I would assume this is just a feature that isn't supported by Samsung Music, so I'm looking for one of two things:

(a) Recommendations for an Android music app (ideally free) that would retain the work and movement info when transferring from MusicBee.
(b) If there's just a quick way of populating the track title field itself with the info from the work and movement fields the same way MusicBee does automatically (i.e. "Work: #. Movement title") but so that it would carry over when syncing to phone.

It would be great to hear suggestions regarding either of these, or any more obvious solution I've missed! Thanks in advance for any assistance.
