Questions / EQ per album not working
« on: December 08, 2020, 07:12:29 PM »
I am definitely missing something. I made EQ presets for a few albums, changed the "Equaliser preset" setting in the tag editor, saved that, and... nothing. How do I actually enable those specific EQ adjustments?

MB 3.0 RC1, Windows 7 x64 Pro

Stopping playback should make MB free all files and relinquish all sound API control. It is too aggressive with its OS hooks.

1. Files added to Playing Now in MB remain open "forever". You can not manually delete files that were added to Playing Now in MB. Stopping playback and even removing those files from Playing Now does not help. Library and non-library files are affected. The only way to regain control over such files is to close MB.

2. MB assumes total and indefinite control of the ASIO API when it is selected as the playback method. Pausing or stopping playback has no effect on this. This makes ASIO virtually useless for any mixed PC use. Doing things like watching a video or playing a game while music is stopped require closing MB or changing the playback method.

MusicBee Wishlist / Play albums not played in x days using Auto-dj
« on: June 28, 2013, 07:11:00 AM »
Can you make the Auto-dj skip albums it played recently (e.g. during the last week)? I would like to have my entire library play through at random, but I get repeats too often for my taste. The randomized does not appear to include such an option.

MusicBee Wishlist / Select number of lines in Artwork view
« on: April 07, 2013, 07:34:54 AM »
The number of lines of text shown below the pictures in the Artwork view should be selectable. The current setup only provides two lines, which can be insufficient for just the album name, and will truncate many names if any other field is added.

It would be helpful if the sound controls were released when playback is stopped when using ASIO. With the current ASIO setup, MusicBee takes control when starting, and does not release it until closed. This prevents an obvious usage pattern where you stop playback and minimize MusicBee to do things like watching a movie or calling someone.

MusicBee Wishlist / Better equalizer controls
« on: February 07, 2013, 09:04:18 AM »
1. Make toggling the EQ and toggling between EQ presets accessible via keyboard shortcuts and buttons. At the moment any change requires opening the EQ/DSP dialog, and fiddling with the checkbox and/or preset list. (Think regular switching between different headphones or headphones and stereo with different frequency response curves.)

2. A toggable option: Make the EQ frequency sliders able snap to values in x dB increments, where x is a user-defined number visible in the EQ interface (visible grid like it is now, plus one description line with the increment value). Increasing the height of the EQ window would help with grid visibility in case of small increments (say 0.5 dB).

3. Improve the extrapolation when changing from 10-band to 15-band. The curve gets very messed up around the highest frequencies.

4. While you're at it, why not add a 20-band option. ;)

MusicBee Wishlist / High DPI/high resolution support
« on: October 22, 2012, 01:42:36 PM »
I would call these bugs, but I realize how few people use very big monitors with increased DPI.

1. Most parts of the Preferences dialog do not accomodate the Windows DPI setting properly. When using a high DPI value (say, the basic 125% zoom in Windows 7), this causes the lower parts of letters to be truncated in all drop-down menus. The menus in the CD Ripping category somehow do not suffer from this issue. Maybe whatever approach was used there can be ported to the other tabs? The screenshots below show the difference:

Probably for the same reason, the last track in the Rip CD dialog is hidden behind the checkbox names:

2. On some monitors, there is enough room to get rid of most (or all) scroll bars in the Preferences dialog. Can the size of this dialog be made adjustable? If not, can MB check to see how much room there is, and set the height accordingly?
