Questions / Problems after moving MB to a new computer

I just bought a new Desktop PC.  I had MB installed and working great on my old desktop PC.  

1.  I backed up my D:\My Music folder on my old PC and restored it to D:\My Music on my new PC.
2. I backed up my ...AppData\Roaming\MusicBee folder on my old PC and restored it to ...AppData\Roaming\MusicBee on my new PC.
3. I backed up my ...AppData\Local\MusicBee folder on my old PC and restored it to ...AppData\Local\MusicBee on my new PC.
4.  I installed MB on my new PC and told it to look for music in my D:\My Music folder.

For the most part everything looks great.  Layout is the same.  The albums and tracks and cover art looks great for hundreds of albums.  My playlists all look fine.

However, I'm having the same issue that was described in this topic:  https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=36976.msg202938#msg202938

For about 25 or 30 albums, their is no meta data and often no cover art.

As you can see from the screenshots, the album is messed up on the new PC.
   1. There is no album art despite there being a cover.jpg file in the folder and it shows as "Unknown Album" on the new PC.
   2. The artist shows as "Unknown Artist" on the new PC.
   3. The track titles are showing a track number in them which didn't appear on my old PC.
   4. There is no Year, Album, Track#, Album Artist, Artist, or Composer showing on the new PC even though it does appear on the old PC.  For some reason the Time and Bitrate do show.
  5.  The sort order is all mixed up on the new PC.  They are not in track order, maybe because there is nothing in the Track column?

What is odd is that for the album in my first screen shot the second song (track 16) is The Last Word on the album Deluxe Edition by Roy Buchanan.  This same song is in a playlist and there it looks fine.

As I mentioned this is only on about 25 or 30 albums out of hundreds of albums.

Did I do something wrong  in what I did to install MB on the new PC?
Is there some way to correct the problem on the new PC?

I did search around and read a lot of topics on the forum, but didn't find anything directly related to my problem other than the one I referenced and there was no solution listed there.  Steven mentioned links to problem files which I would be happy to provide, but I'm not sure what problem files he means.

Questions / Equalizer presets not showing in dropdown list

I'm having a problem.  None of the presets are showing in the dropdown list for the equalizer.  The .sde files are in C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\Equaliser.  This is where they were installed since I haven't touched anything.  The only two items in the dropdown list are Manual and Auto-Select by Genre.

Shouldn't all the presets be listed?

I am using the installer version of MusicBee 3.4.8033 which I downloaded from the MusicBee website.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?  I couldn't find any kind of setting that would impact this.

I originally posted this in another topic which was labeled as "Solved", so I thought I should break it out into its own topic.  Sorry if that was incorrect.

Questions / Autoplay question

I have Windows 10 set to autoplay a music CD in MusicBee when the disc it is inserted.  So, when I insert a CD, MusicBee is started and the CD plays.

I would prefer that it just start up MusicBee and not actually start playing the CD.  Is this possible?

Bug Reports / No track info when inserting or ripping CD's

I am having a problem very similar to the one I had in this thread, https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=29771.0.

When I insert a CD MusicBee fires up and starts playing the disc just fine.  There are no error messages displayed.

However, the track listing shows only Track 01, Track 02, etc. and no Album, Year or Artist is given for each track.  However, the Time and Bitrate are given for each track.   The same CD in iTunes shows all the information just fine.

If I try to rip the CD the same problem happens in the rip dialog.

I have the same PC that I had in that thread.  It is a fast DELL XPS8930 desktop with 64 GB of ram.  My internet connection is consistently over 590 Mbps.

I've not had any problems since the last issue was resolved until about 3 weeks ago.  I've tried everything.  It started on MB 3.4.7586.  I've tried 3.4.7687 and the same problem exists.  I've tried going back to 3.3.7491 and the problem exists. 

Any help appreciated.

Beyond MusicBee / album covers MusicBee and iTunes

I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I share the same folder structure for both MusicBee and iTunes.  I use MusicBee as my primary music player.

All of my album covers are in files called Cover.jpg in the same folder as the song track files.  For some reason MusicBee will display all of them, but iTunes only displays maybe 20% of them.

Any ideas why this would be the case?  I know this is a MusicBee forum, but I was hoping someone might know what is going on.

Portable Devices / all songs in playlists being copied even if already on device

Awhile ago I did a wired sync to my tablet.  I synced only playlists which seems to have worked just fine.

Today I decided to try wifi sync for the first time.  

My intent was to sync all my playlists.  I expected it to just copy over things that had changed like new songs in a playlist or new playlists.

Instead it appeared to begin copying all 4500 songs in all my playlists.  I say this because on the sync status window it showed every song being copied.  

Why would it copy songs in playlists that hadn't changed since the wired sync?  It doesn't appear that I got any duplicate files on my tablet so it must have just copied them over the existing files.  

I am on 3.3.7310.

Questions / tabs question

Is there a way to prevent new tabs from being opened?  I would like to have only a Music tab which is reused when necessary, a Now Playing tab, and no other tabs (playlists, drives, etc.).


If that is not possible, is there a way to turn off tabs completely? 

I've looked through the settings, but can't find how to do either of these things.

Bug Reports / Unable to read CD track 'Track 01'

I am getting an error message when I put in a CD to try and rip it.  The error says "Unable to read CD track 'Track 01'".  I get this for almost all CDs I try.  When I get the error sometimes it does not show all the info for the tracks (title, album, artist, etc) and sometimes it does.  When it does show all the track information I am able to rip the CD just fine.  If I try the same CD using iTunes, it has no trouble reading the CD.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Questions / Why music shows as two albums in music list

I have a some songs that all have the same Artist, Album Artist, Album and Disc #.  Despite that, they show up in the Music list as being two separate albums.  One has track 1 and the other has tracks 2 thru 7. 

I have verified that all of these tags are the same on all 7 tracks by selecting them all, editing them, and typing in the information.

Any idea why this might be happening and how to fix it?

Questions / Album Artwork Manager - question on pasting artwork

I am in the Album Artwork Manager.  On the far right is the picture of the artwork.  If I cut an image of an album cover from somewhere and then go to the picture of the artwork in the AAM, and then right click and say paste I get a pop-up window on which the settings are set as "link the picture to this music track" and "save to folder.jpg".  I use Cover.jpg so I have to uncheck "save to folder.jpg" and check "link to an organized copy of the picture".  Every time I use Paste it reverts to "save to folder.jpg".

Is there anyway I can get "link to an organized copy of the picture" to be the default each time I use paste?

I looked around and couldn't find a setting for this.  In Preferences > Tags (1) I have "copy to the same folder as the music file and name as: Cover.jpg.

Questions / background image for Now Playing

In Now Playing I would like to be able to set a solid color background.  When using Artist Picture, I sometimes have a very hard time reading the lyrics or artist biography depending on the picture.  When using Album Color mix I have the same problem depending on the color.  If I could set the background image to a solid color I would be able to more easily read the lyrics.  MB has so many options and settings that I was hoping I am just missing something that would allow me to do this.

Questions / right sidebar not always showing

I need some help.  I set MB up to show the right sidebar and to have it contain the lyrics.  This was working fine for about a week for both Music and all playlists.  Now today, when I go to a playlist and play a song it still shows the right sidebar with the lyrics.  When I go to Music and select an album and play a song, the right sidebar isn't there.  I double checked and it is still set to Show Panel.

Any ideas on why the right sidebar isn't showing in Music but is showing in playlists?  How can I fix this?

Bug Reports / floating window questions

I had the lyrics showing in the right panel, but was thinking about using the floating window instead.  I see how to change the font size in the right panel and did make it larger for the lyrics.  I can't see how to increase the font size in the floating window.  Is it possible?

Also, if I have the floating window open and then minimize it, is there a way I can easily restore it to its "regular" size?  Having to click on the icon and select the window is OK, but I thought maybe there would be a quicker method like a hot key combination or some other method.

Questions / version 3.3.7115 questions

I have two questions on the new version 3.3.7115.  I just downloaded and installed it over 3.2 the other day.  I am using Windows 10 1903.

When I start up MusicBee it shows version 3.3.7115 in Help > About.  When I look at Control Panel, it shows that I have version 3.2 installed.  Shouldn't it show 3.3.7115?

I now have two icons for MusicBee in the start menu.  One icon is the bee with no musical note behind it.  This icon is not under a folder.  The other icon has the bee with the musical note.  This icon is under a folder that also has the name MusicBee.  Clicking on either icon starts MusicBee version 3.3.7115.  Is this normal to have two like this?

Questions / How to make inserted CD autoplay

I just downloaded MusicBee and really like it.  One question though.  When I insert a CD it does not autoplay.  MusicBee does not even appear in the apps listed to use as the default action for autoplaying a CD.  How can I get this to work?  I am on Windows 10 1903.  I downloaded MusicBee version 3.3 from the forum post.  I searched around on the forum for a solution, but couldn't find one.
