Bug Reports / Minor alignment issue when using the A-Z jump bar
« on: March 15, 2022, 02:10:35 PM »
If you use album art view and you use the mouse wheel to scroll through your collection, MusicBee scrolls down/up one full row of albums at a time, so the top of the artwork of the top row is always aligned with the top of the screen. A feature I really like, as it means you never have the top row only partially displayed/cut off.

However, if you use the A-Z jump bar to jump to artists starting with a particular letter, it doesn't quite align properly, as you can see here: -

And also here: -

To me, the expected behaviour would be for using the A-Z jump bar to exactly mimic manually scrolling, in terms of the position of things on the screen, but it's a few pixels out.

I know this is nitpicking, lol, but it's just something I notice quite often when using the program.

Version: 3.4.7925.16930

When you click on an album cover so it expands and shows the track listing, the album title, artist name, and year of release are no longer visible: -

A couple of examples: -

You can still click on where the artist name should be and it takes you to the Music Explorer tab, but the text is just not visible.

I have tried several different skins and it's the same with them all.

The bug is not present if I overwrite the musicbee.exe file with version 3.4.7918.19190, so I think it was introduced in the latest beta.

I'm using MusicBee version 3.4.7749.

I noticed today that music I've added to my library in MusicBee in recent months shows as having 2 album cover images, even though there's only 1. For example: -

If I switch between the 2, nothing happens.

All of my albums are stored and tagged the same way. Each album is in its own folder. Inside that folder is a hidden folder.jpg file, and that's also embedded into the tags of the files. If I open a file in MusicBee's own tag editor, it only shows 1 piece of artwork there.

It's obviously not a major issue, but I just wondered why it's happening. It only affects music I've added to MusicBee's library in the last few months. When I check music I added further back than that, it only shows "Image 1: Album cover" and that's it, even though the files are stored/tagged in the exact same way.

This may not even be a bug, but I'm just wondering why it's showing "Image 1: Album cover" and "Image 2: Album cover" for the albums I've added recently, but not older ones.

Thanks!

Currently, "Queue Next" works like this: -

Let's say you have 3 tracks in the "Now Playing" list and track 2 is playing. If you pick a track from your library and choose "Queue Next" and be queued in the number 3 slot, however, if you pick another track and choose "Queue Next" it would by placed in the number 4 slot and so on. It's not literally being queued next.

So, I would like to see the option to always have the selected track literally be queued next, as I would absolutely switch to that and never switch back if I could.

I have some 64Kbps MP3 files that are showing up as twice as long as they actually are in certain places in MusicBee.

In my library, in the playing tracks list, and in the track information box, it's showing the files as being twice as long as they are, however, the correct length is shown above the progress bar while one of these MP3s is playing.

If I convert the files to WAV the correct lengths are shown everywhere, but then as soon as I convert them back to MP3 again, I get the double length issue.

The only other programs I have on my computer that can play MP3 files are Groove Music and MPC-BE, both of which display the correct track lengths, so I'm not sure what's happening here.

I was playing an album and I double-clicked on the artwork of another album to play that instead. That album did not play though and instead, MusicBee completely locked up so I could no longer click on anything and I had to force close the program.

The track mentioned in the log is the first track of the album I was trying to play.

After closing and restarting MusicBee, it seems to be working fine, but I thought I'd report this as I've never had it completely freeze up like this.

7
When I switch to the "Now playing" tab, it searches online for an artist picture and then displays it as a background. For some reason though, I'm not getting pictures appearing for lots of popular artists. Examples include Madonna, The Beatles, Rihanna, Alice in Chains. All I get is a coloured background instead.

What's going on? Where does MusicBee pull these pictures in from? Where are the settings related to this? Is it some kind of image copyright issue?

Thanks!

Bug Reports / Double-click bug in Windows 10 with latest beta
« on: March 15, 2018, 07:48:25 AM »
This bug has actually been around for a long time but I keep forgetting to report it.

In MusicBee I have it set so that when I double-click a file, it starts to play immediately, regardless of whether a file is already playing or not.

However, often when I double-click a file it gets added to the end of the queue. Sometimes I can click the same file multiple times in a row and, for example, the first 5 times it'll get added to the end of the queue so there's multiple duplicate entries for the same file in the now playing list, but then the 6th time I double-click it the now playing list is cleared and the file starts to play.

It seems rather random, although it seems more likely that a file will get queued rather than playing immediately.

I can replicate this bug and post a video/GIF if you like, and I can provide logs or whatever helps you track the issue down. Just let me know what to do.

9
I'm using the latest version of MusicBee 3.2.x and the 64 bit version of Windows 10 Pro, fully up to date.

I used to be able to start a podcast going on MusicBee and after 10 minutes my monitor would turn off, then once the podcast ended, my PC would go to sleep.

Now, neither of those things happen. If MusicBee is running, even if it's not actually playing anything, my monitor never turns off and my PC never goes to sleep.

Any idea why? There's no other programs running in the background and if MusicBee is not open, the monitor turns off and the PC goes to sleep as normal.

Thanks.

Bug Reports / Spectrum analyser visual bug in compact player (3.2.6592)
« on: January 19, 2018, 12:09:28 PM »
I can't replicate this bug 100% of the time, but it seems to happen at least 50% of the time.

When you move the divider between the left and right sides of the compact player UI over to the right, it causes part of the right side of the spectrum analyser display to freeze, which remains stuck even if you stop the song.

This is what I'm talking about: -

I've already clicked it a couple of times by mistake, so I'd like to get rid of it but I can't find the option.

Thanks!

Bug Reports / [FIXED] Album art alignment changes with non-square art
« on: April 06, 2017, 11:18:42 PM »
I have some MP3 files that have rectangular art embedded into them. If I play one of those files, the art is aligned to the bottom of the track information box like this: -

http://i.imgur.com/TYl5rTO.jpg

However, if I quit MusicBee and restart it, the art is then aligned at the top of the box, like this: -

http://i.imgur.com/iWGWsx7.jpg

When I press play to continue playing the file, the art stays aligned at the top of the box. If I open a different file, then go back and open the original file with the rectangular art, the art is aligned at the bottom of the box again.

Up until a couple of beta versions ago, the art would always align at the bottom of the box, no matter what, which is how I believe it should work.

Thanks! :)

I have genres displayed in the left panel, and in the main centre panel I'm using the album art view. I also have the A-Z jump list enabled.

So, let's say that I click on "hip-hop" to display all of my hip-hop albums and then I click on "H" in the jump list to jump down to the albums beginning with H. That will automatically jump down 30 rows to my first hip-hop album where the artist begins with H, as intended.

However, if I then switch over to "R&B", the view will already be scrolled down 30 rows. As I have fewer R&B albums than hip-hop albums, that means I'm browsing the albums with artists that begin with S.

I don't know if this behaviour is intended, but I think it would be better if, when you switched genres, it put you back at the top of the album list.

Thanks!

Bug Reports / "Switch to Compact Player" bug
« on: October 24, 2016, 02:49:34 AM »
I'm using the latest beta. Here's the issue: -

1. Start the program in the regular full screen main player view.

2. Right-click the taskbar button and choose "Switch to Compact Player". It switches. All good so far.

3. Hit the maximise button to go back to full screen view.

Now when you right-click the taskbar button, you only get 2 view options: -

* Switch to Main Player
* Switch to Mini Player

So you're already in the main player view, and the option to switch to the compact view is missing.

If you choose "Switch to Main Player" nothing happens, as you're already in that view, and the right-click options remain the same - there's still no option to switch to compact player view.

The only way to get the "Switch to Compact Player" option back is to switch to the mini player view, then maximise that back to the full screen main player view.

Before updating to the latest beta, the expandable panel that opens when you click on an album looked like this: -

http://i.imgur.com/l3kqKAY.jpg

So each column shows 8 tracks and the artwork fills the entire area.

After updating to the latest beta, it looks like this: -

http://i.imgur.com/IrYbfw6.jpg

Now each column shows 7 tracks instead of 8 and the artwork no longer fills the area.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's by design, but if it's by design it seems wasteful to me. The expandable panel seems to be 10 pixels taller now, yet it shows fewer tracks per column and smaller artwork. I definitely preferred the way it looked before.

Thanks!
