General Discussions / Bug report and/or question standard "form"
« on: January 11, 2024, 08:39:54 AM »
When i look at the bug report section and or question section of the forum, often the same questions need to be asked to help someone out.

Would it be an idea to come up with a standard "form" for users in order to remedy that.

Example:

1. What version of MB are you using.
2. Steps to reproduce the bug or question.
3. What Operating system are you using.

Stuff like that, so that certain questions are out of the way to begin with.

Maybe there is something like that already i don't know, if that is the case i missed it  :)

Questions / Version 3.6 portable testing?
« on: November 14, 2023, 11:34:39 AM »
Is it possible to test version 3.6 on a MB portable installation? And if so how do i do that ;) ?

I recently switched to 3.5 portable and used the portable download file and went from there with my normal install. That worked great. But i do not see a 3.6 portable file anywhere?.

MusicBee Wishlist / Assign radio stations to multiple folders
« on: September 28, 2023, 02:30:40 AM »
I you have a radio station that is for example from Germany and it is a Christmas station, you have to make a choice to either put it in a folder named Germany or in a folder named Christmas (or not use a folder). It's not possible to assign it to both folders.

No idea if it is possible but it would be nice to be able to use several folders for the same radio station.

The only way to do that now was answered by Steven in this topic

Questions / Grouping radio stations by multiple folders?
« on: July 30, 2023, 09:51:06 AM »
I was wondering if it is possible to assign a radio station to multiple folders.

For example a Dutch radio station is a Christmas music station. I have a Netherlands folder, but i also have a Christmas folder.

I would like that same radio station to be in the Netherlands folder and also in the Christmas folder.

Is that possible?

Questions / Where does MB save the Radio Station Picture Links?
« on: July 23, 2023, 08:27:32 AM »
I switched to portable using this excellent guide: MusicBee File Paths (Installed vs. Portable) and managed to get everything working except for one thing.

I have a lot of radio stations which i gave a picture manually (edit radio station -> choose picture) and most of them are still linked to the "old folder" that was used for the normal version.

I first thought they where saved in WebCache.mbl but after deleting, it is being rebuild by MB on startup and the old links are still there.
The other place i found the links is in MusicBeeLibrary.mbl, but that is not a file you want to remove or edit ;)

Where are those links saved?

I am looking for a way to change the links to the portable folder without having to change the pictures by hand all over again.

Questions / Windows 10 "error" question(s)
« on: February 20, 2023, 08:09:56 AM »
I did an in-place update from W7 to W10. All seemed to be fine until I had an podcast update. I investigated the error log and noticed this:

I checked permissions, which seemed fine on my music disc, nothing changed in that regard. The episodes also downloaded and worked, but every time i started MB, they downloaded again, with the error. The MBL database file didn't save either after start-up/shutdown like it normally does.

The problem seemed to be writing rights for MB itself in regard to C:\Program Files (x86)\, although my windows account is an administrator account. So I changed the MB link itself, to run as an administrator and that worked. No more errors.

- My questions(s) is (are) is that normal to do so in order to run MB under W10?
- Do i need to change anything?
- Do i need to install MB in C:\Program Files\ instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\?

MB is the normal windows version 3.5.8447.35892D

Thanks.

Is it possible to remove the .\ in a playlist created by synchronising a virtual device using "relative file paths"?

So for example:

Playlist A\Song.mp3
instead of
.\Playlist A\Song.mp3

The standard seems to be .\ and works fine on most media players i have, except my car radio, which only reads the first example. I normally synchronise the music files, convert them manually to mp3 and create a playlist with MP3Tag for that purpose but i want to do that all with MusicBee.

The car radio only reads mp3 so i made a virtual device which converts all flac to mp3, which works great, but the created playlist with .\ using relative file paths doesn't work in the car. If i create the playlist with MP3Tag the .\ is not used, just "Playlist A\Song.mp3" etc. and that works.

Bug Reports / Error downloading Podcast MB 3.5 latest version
« on: April 13, 2022, 04:28:37 PM »
I updated to MB 3.5 Version 3.5.8136.36691 (11-04-2022).

When I tried downloading Pod-casts I get the error: "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel" and nothing is downloaded.

I reverted back to Version 3.5.8122.38410 (28-03-2022) and all works fine without any errors.

I left MusicBee.exe.config unchanged while reverting. It's still the one that was in the zip-file with MB 3.5 Version 3.5.8136.36691.

Questions / Virtual Tag that shows either <.Ext> or <Format>
« on: March 03, 2022, 06:41:31 AM »
Hi,

Is it possible to make a virtual tag that shows either the <.Ext> tag if it's a local file playing, or the <Format> tag when a Radio Station is playing?.

So basically when a local file is played only show <.Ext> but not <Format> and if a Radio Station is playing, only show <Format> but not <.Ext>.

Questions / Radio Stations Questions
« on: February 25, 2022, 03:25:28 AM »
1. If I export - import Radio Stations (with xml), the station pictures are all lost?. Somehow they do not get exported.

What can I do to prevent that from happening?

2. If I import a different xml file with stations I do not have, does that overwrite my existing stations or do they get appended to the existing list?

Questions / Updating to 3.5
« on: February 22, 2022, 07:25:32 AM »
Hi,

I was wondering how to do that.

I tried to install the 3.5 patch over the latest 3.4 patch but that gave me an error:

Unable to load MusicBeeBass.dll: This could be due to running a patch version instead of installing it or it could be etc..

I white-listed everything needed but that didn't work.

Do i need to install a full 3.5 version first? and if so where do i find it?

Thank you.

Questions / Synchronized lyrics question
« on: August 22, 2021, 07:58:41 PM »
Hi there,

Is it possible to show synchronized lyrics in the details panel between the file link and the wave bar as seen in the screen-shot?

They work in lyrics panel (and now playing, theatre mode etc), but it would be nice to have them in the details panel so that i have it all in one place.

Thanks.

Questions / Radiostation description
« on: February 18, 2021, 06:25:10 AM »
When adding radio stations to MusicBee, there is a field description. I filled it out for a few stations but it doesn't show anywhere besides while editing.

I thought it would show as a mouse-over or something or in the details tab, but it doesn't show anywhere as far as i can see.

So what is it for exactly?
