Questions / Stuff "missing" from library

Hi.

Decided to rebuild my library so started a new one.  Told it about the path to the files (on a share) and left it to scan.  Now its telling me stuff is missing and showing a path that doesn't exist.  Bit baffled why it think some files are somewhere else given I told it about only one.

Do I need to clear out the MB database or something else?

Portable Devices / Galaxy Ace 2

Hi.

MusicBee tells me very little about what is happening during sync to my new Galaxy Ace 2 and takes ages. E.g. the status will say "Playlist 'ToShare' copying" and just sits there, despite it containing less than 10 tracks.  How can I tell what it is actually doing?

How about more options in the nav panel contents to hide more things or even show it as a list instead.  For example I dont need to see the library or devices headings (and their right click options are available elsewhere) so would perhaps prefer to see a list like this.

MusicBee Wishlist / Rip then Convert

Hi.

I suspect I have asked this before but cant find it.    Is it possible to automate the rip then convert process.  I like to rip new CDs to FLAC (for my archive) then to MP3 (for my library).  Would be nice if this was a one button process.

MusicBee Wishlist / Personal Ratings

Hi. 

MusicBee does mostly what I need and I am well pleased with it. It works quickly and efficiently and as we all know the level of support is an example to all. 

However, every now and then I get a little philosophical about how I should be using MusicBee and have recently been thinking about ratings vs. playlists.   I have not been following these forums closely for quite while now so may have missed a solution to this so please forgive me if I am wasting time.

I have never been particularly happy about having to create and maintain static playlists for favourite songs.  It seems to me that i should be using ratings but of course ratings are very personal and the standard rating scheme is not good enough (IMHO) to allow for this kind of subjectivity.  So I tend to create static playlists which are a bit of a pain to maintain (particularly recently as I have been moving my library around while playing with a remote share rather than a local USB).

Seems to me that if I was able to rate songs subjectively (by person) then I could use auto-playlists instead.

So my idea is that when I rate a song I can add a tag that defines the context for that rating (e.g. me).  This would make better use of the rating function and allow me to distinguish my favorite songs from my wife's for example without having to create static playlists.

There you are.   Any solutions or advice?

Portable Devices / Detect MTP Device hangs

Trying to switch the "Detect MTP Device" option on but it just sits there and never completes.  Have to stop Musicbee from the Task Manager.  I am using 1.2.4027

MusicBee Wishlist / Virtual Device [renamed]

Hey.  Been away for a while (busy on other things) but back with a couple of interesting ideas.  

I recently acquired a SE X10 Mini (a truly wondrous device!) and wondering how I might take advantage of it's wireless capabilities to sync music with MusicBee.  I have been playing with Dropbox for Android and thinking it might be nice to be able to treat one of my Dropbox folders on my PC as a virtual device in MusicBee.  e.g. be able to sync a playlist with it or transcode while copying stuff to it.  That would allow me to download the synced music in that folder to my X10 mini through it's Dropbox wirelessly.  Also it would be great if sync could happen both ways.  Rather than delete stuff from my device that is not on the MusicBee playlist (because I downloaded it straight to my X10) why not import it to MusicBee.

What do you all think?

My iTunes music server has started complaining about diacritic marks.  Any change there could be an option for MusicBee to not export them to the itunes xml file?

MusicBee Wishlist / Albums and Dates

I am wondering it it might be more useful for a "date" sort to apply to album rather than tracks in the "album and tracks" view.  Reason being that if I sort my recently added playlist by "date added" in "album and tracks" view the track numbers are in the wrong order (because the last track was added most recently).

MusicBee Wishlist / Removing MP3/FLAC Dupes

Hi.

Way back in the mists of time and before MusicBee (how did I ever manage!) I decided to make MP3 copies of everything I had.  My library is getting rather large now  and MusicBee and my media server are quite capable of converting/transcoding to MP3 when I need it so I have decided it's probably time I started getting rid of the dupes (MusicBee tells me I have 31GB of them!).

MusicBee is great at telling me what the dupes are but not that good at helping me identify which ones I can get rid of.  I could filter the dupe list for mp3s but that only find 9GB which puzzles me a little.  What I think I need is:

1. A dupe filter based on pairs of file types.  i.e. "shows me all the MP3s that are duplicates of FLACs"
2. An archive that I can move them to (that I can hide from the library) until I am happy they can be removed.

Following a discussion on ratings in another thread I propose an option to choose if ratings are saved in the MB database or file tags.  Complimented by an option to save ratings in tags for specific files..

MusicBee Wishlist / Show Player in left sidebar bottom

I use MusicBee mostly as a manager rather than a player.  To gain more screen space would be nice to be able to show the player at the bottom of the left sidebar.  Perhaps with an option to show just the selected/playing album art.

Is there anyway MusicBee can automatically sort out playlists when it auto organises files that are in them. Quite often I return to specific playlists to find lots of stuff is missing and i have to add again.

My SE W910i phone is not showing in MusicBee (1.2.3793).  The Devices menu shows but no phone.

MusicBee Wishlist / Cycle the Panel Layout Button

How about having the Panel Layout button cycle though the views (biography, artwork, album and tracks, track detail) when you click it.  So a single click will change the layout to the next one.   The pull down would still be available but only by explicitly clicking the pull down arrow itself.
