Hi everyone, I decided to do this the other way around: instead of buying something and then trying to get it to work with musicbee, I want to start here by asking what works and then get the most cost-effective option. The bar I'm setting for this is pretty low: just the same basic functionality I had 15 years ago with my Ipod classic (RIP my little clickwheel-y friend) and iTunes 4.0. As long as it feels like I'm carrying around my music library in my pocket I'm happy with whatever solution we can find! In bulletpoints that means:

- mini-jack output
- supports flac & mp3
- some basic controls and a display
- syncs plays with musicbee (bonus points if it also syncs last.fm)
- syncs files with musicbee
- storage minimum 16 GB, but would prefer 128GB (having the whole collection on there would require a 1TB mp3 player, which doesn't exist yet..)
- a solution where I sync an SD card is also fine.
- sync over wifi is fine too, but not necessary (got a VPN that'll makes things more difficult)
- I rather not use my phone, the audio jack is broken and there's little storage space.

What is the best supported solution? what do you use?

Questions / Send Musicbee's play history to last.fm
« on: June 04, 2020, 07:36:28 PM »
I just (re)discovered last.fm, and have correctly configured it to scrobble the music I'm playing now. What I can't figure out is how I send my play history (for every track the playcount+the last date I've played it) to the last.fm site.
Is there a way to collect that data and upload it to last.fm? its a decade worth of plays so manually isn't an option here.

Questions / organise library: Syntax question
« on: September 02, 2019, 04:35:32 PM »
I want to reduce clutter in my library so I'm rewriting the organisation formula. This is all new to me but thanks to the tutorial on the wiki its coming along nicely.
Tho there is 1 thing I can't seem to figure out. I've seen a user here that made musicbee count the number of tracks in an album, and if the number of tracks is lower than 3, no folder is created and the tracks are placed directly in the artist folder. This would make a lot of sense for my collection.
So how do I make this happen in Musicbee? my formula so far is:

Code
$If(<Album Artist>=<Artist>,<Album Artist>,<Artist>)\$IsNull(<Album>,,<Album>)\$IsNull(<Disc-Track#>,, <Disc-Track#>" ")<Title>

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I may or may not share a respectably large music collection on sl sk. I use the powerful auto-organize from musicbee to do this. This works really well (no manual dragging and dropping into folders required, just make sure the files are tagged correctly in mp3tag and then import into library.)
The downside is that with the current settings (<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Disc-Track#> <Title>) it becomes unwieldy to browse through for other people. there are for example plenty of folders with just one track in them. I already have most of my compilations now set to various artists so they don't scatter anymore but still: what syntax would be most convenient?

tl;dr: as a (hypothetical) user of a filesharing platform, what folder structure would make most sense to you? & how do I stop those single tracks from creating their own folders?

Hi, I'm cleaning up my C: drive and I've discovered that musicbee keeps a 5 Gb file in the /music folder on the C drive. I wanna move it to a folder on the D drive. this is what I've got so far:

- The folder has album covers in it, it is not the music itself (thats on D:/music.)
- I've changed the default folders for images  in musicbee to a new one on the D drive, but it doesn't change the files. I tried to restart musicbee but it won't transfer them manually.

question: can I just drag and drop the files to the new folder or will that mess up my library?
is there a function that I've overlooked to move these files?

thanks in advance!

Questions / +1 to playcount
« on: September 29, 2018, 01:02:30 PM »
short question: is there a convenient way to add 1 to playcount for selected tracks? the only trick in my book is to play the tracks, fastforward to near the end of the track, and then click to the end of the next track. another way would be to enter numbers manually for each track seperately. is there an alternative to these workarounds? assigning a hotkey for example to add one to the current playcount of a selection would be the perfect solution for me.

Questions / add field to expanded panel
« on: March 16, 2018, 12:45:08 AM »
Hi everyone, I'm trying to do something seemingly simple: show the playcount of tracks in the expanded window in a column (just like the duration and star ranking). all I've managed to do is add the playcount of each track underneath the track name which looks strange. how do you set which fields are displayed in the expanded panel? I tried both the search function and the wiki before starting a new topic.
if this is not possible I'm looking for suggestions, where did you choose to display the playcount in musicbee?
