Questions / Auto-Tag Artwork With Local Files
« on: March 19, 2023, 10:22:19 PM »
Hey, Everyone,

Just wanted to see, is there a way to make MusicBee automatically add, remove or otherwise update artwork that is already downloaded?

When I add music to my library, I always look for the highest quality versions of the album and single artworks I can find, then download them to the folder with the MP3s. I attribute all the album covers as 'Album Cover' and the single artworks as 'Album Cover (back),' then I base their filenames on what they are. Here is an example:

For all the images, I count how many versions I can find of a particular cover and count it at the end of the filename, preceded by an underscore. With the singles, I precede the underscore with the disc and track number associated with the song file. For both album and single artworks, the ones with "Original" means I had to alter the original image, typically to make them square, but I always keep the originals. If it says "Original," I don't add it to the songs' metadata in MusicBee; just the altered versions.

With a filenaming scheme this detailed, is there a way for MusicBee to automatically save the images into each song's metadata like I have them organized in the folder already? I realize how niche this sort of feature would be, but I figured there's no hurt in asking. Thank you for your input!

Questions / Artist Picture Filenames With Illegal Characters
« on: May 24, 2018, 05:31:09 PM »
I am manually adding Artist Pictures because I don't like the ones that are pulled from the Internet. So far, I have not run into any issues, that is, until I came to AC/DC. The slash in the band's name is considered to be an illegal character and thus can not be contained in the filename of my selected Artist Picture. What character do I put in place of the slash? I have tried "AC_DC.jpg," "AC DC.jpg," "AC-DC.jpg," "AC.DC.jpg," and "ACDC.jpg" and MusicBee doesn't recognize any of them.

I sometimes play music for various organizations using MusicBee. I like to project the Theater Mode through a projector or TV while I do work on my primary screen so that my audience doesn't have to stare at my desktop wallpaper. This is also useful in editing the queue. This setup works, but only until my cursor is hidden within the MusicBee program. When I turn Theater Mode off, the issue remains until I restart the program. Is there any way to fix this?

Questions / Relative Paths in Playlists
« on: February 23, 2018, 11:01:29 PM »
I sync my entire music library with my phone using FreeFileSync. I also constantly update my playlists as I add and reorder songs to them. This is why exporting each playlist each time I update it would be a nightmare.

I save the playlists as .M3U files so that the Rocket Player app on my phone can read them, but the file paths are absolute when I open the playlist on my laptop even with the "Edit->Preferences->Library->Playlists->Use relative file paths" option checked. Am I missing something?

Questions / MusicBee Won't Automatically Add New Files
« on: February 23, 2018, 04:11:24 PM »
I have recently had the experience of getting a new laptop due to a hard drive failure. Fortunately, I had all of my music on an external hard drive. Unfortunately, I did not save my library preferences to it. Now, I'm setting up both my music and MusicBee library on my internal hard drive.

I have been having an issue with this though. New music that I receive is not showing up in the library. I had set up the monitored folders option and since turned that off. I have manually rescanned the library from 'File->Add files to Library' several times to no avail. The only way that they will show up is if I manually drag each file from Windows Explorer into the MusicBee window.

This isn't the way it should work. Is there anything I am doing wrong or is it a bug?

Questions / Album Art Not Syncing With Android Phone
« on: April 28, 2017, 03:11:13 PM »
I just came across MusicBee and really enjoy it. I really like the automatic sync feature for mobile devices. However, I am having an issue syncing album art with my .mp3 files.

I have embedded my own album artwork into each .mp3 file, but they aren't coming up in Rocket Player on my phone. When I play the music on my computer, MusicBee shows the embedded artwork. I have looked in Windows Explorer and Mp3tag and my music files do indeed have embedded artwork. In my device sync settings, I have selected "embed artwork in the music file," without using the resize option (most of my music have high-res artwork).

Is there something I am missing?
