Questions / lock "customize panel"
« on: March 27, 2017, 03:11:22 AM »
I would like to prevent users from changing layout in locked view. Is there any way to achieve that? Can I set at least some configuration file(s) as read only?

Thank you

Questions / Segoe UI Symbol troubles Windows 7
« on: March 24, 2017, 10:45:41 AM »
I have just found that there is a crucial difference between Windows 7 and 10 as for how they handle fonts. I want to use Segoe UI in Music Bee - it looks perfect. If you are using Windows 10 no problem. But, in Windows 7 there may be situations when you have very special symbols like this album from Siberian Hellsounds: ⍲⍕⍎⍱ - these 4 symbols require Segoe UI Symbol font and Windows 7 does not switch to it automatically - you need to specifically set it either as a general font or elsewhere in Music Bee. Problem is Segue UI Symbol does not look as nice as Segoe UI.

I simply ignore these specific symbols for now, but it is sad that Windows 7 is so limiting. I am even thinking about trying to install 10 even when the hardware is not guaranteed to support it.

And I think there is no solution to this. I have tried installing Segoe UI Symbol update for Windows 7 but as I described it is that Seven does not automatically switch to that required font whereas Ten does. And I think the update was not necessary anyway.

Please, enable the option to manage Playing tracks list such as cropping, clearing, removing duplicates... Pretty much the LIST option available in unlocked view.

I think this is a basic playback feature, to be able to remove accidently selected tracks from playing list etc. and should be available even in locked down view.

I would rather disable other things like DSP, replay gain control, sound output selection...

Thanks.

Questions / Visualisers extremely slow MB hardly responds Windows 7
« on: March 23, 2017, 04:20:40 AM »
I run MB on an ASUS motherboard with Intel G41 chipset and Core 2 Duo E7500 with 4 GB RAM. Compared to my Windows 10 laptop which has super fast visualisers performance the G41 setup is extremely slow. In fact the visualisers are no use since the MB tends not to respond and it is a question of seconds just to close the visualiser tab. Hardly any animation, just freeze but music plays fine. Seems like a graphics driver issue?

Is there anything worth trying to get visualisers run as smooth as on my Windows 10 laptop (which is btw weaker with just Celeron n2830 chipset)?

specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7500
Intel G41 GMA 4500
Asus P5G41T-M LX
4 GB RAM
DirectX 11
Windows 7 32 bit

Should I try some other version of Direct X or Intel drivers or any other enhancements?

Questions / Playlists - Playlist manager - delete Library section
« on: January 19, 2017, 06:45:11 AM »
Is it possible to get rid of Library items being displayed in Playlist manager (see the picture below). I would like to show only Playlists and nothing more in this frame. For example there is a Audiobooks selection and I do not use any audiobooks at all.

When the playlist manager is to be loaded as a default tab (Playlists tab) there is some sort of issue that the frame draws over the bottom and right areas (see the picture below). Selecting a different tab and switching back or resizing the vertical bars solves it. But it would be good if this did not happen. From the tabs I have it is only the Playlists tab that has this issue (Music, Now playing, History, Playlists). Happens on all skins I have tried (I am using WMP12 blue skin). Not sure if it is an issue with my system only but it is fully installed with the provided drivers (Windows 7 32bit, Intel GMA X4500 GPU).

Would it be possible to add an option to launch external programs like virtual keyboard in full screen mode? Also adding an option to shut the system down or sign off would be very useful in this mode. As for the virtual keyboard - it might even be a feature inside Music Bee itself...

Questions / No smooth fading when skipping to next track
« on: January 19, 2017, 06:09:10 AM »
I have found out that there is no smooth fading when I click on Skip to next track button. But smooth fading works when I click on Skip to previous track. Is this intentional? Also it works when double clicking a selection in a list, so it is only that skip to next track button that does not have smooth fading applied.

I have found out that the player does not switch to full screen mode immediately after I set it to locked down mode (with the option full screen mode (switching to other applications disabled)). I have found out that I first have to right click on the task bar and switch it to either compact or mini player and then switch back to normal - and now it is in full screen. Windows 7 32bit, Intel GMA X4500 GPU.

I have found out that even after locking down the player there are still some options available which I would rather lock as well. For example I do not want the users to change replay gain playback settings but they can easily do it through Controls menu. I would like to hide these options (Replay gain off, Smart gain, Track gain only, Album gain only). Applies to other elements as well (like Equalizer, DSP Effects, Arrange panels button...).

Keep player locked down after termination

Would it be possible to add an option to keep Music Bee locked down even after it was closed so that it is not possible to restart it and thus have it unlocked? I have found out that even in full screen mode I was able to use CTRL + ALT + Delete and sign off the Windows and launch Music Bee again, unlocked. I think this option would solve this issue for various situations.

Do not show password for locking down

Would it be possible to add an option not to show the actual letters of a password being used for locking Music Bee down? Currently it is fully visible in the Lockdown Settings form and anyone standing behind me can easily spot it when I lock it down.
