Questions / Ignore Diacritic Marks
« on: June 22, 2020, 11:58:57 PM »
I can't find the setting to disable ignoring diacritic marks anymore. It used to be under Preferences -> Tags (2), right? Did it get renamed or removed?

MusicBee Wishlist / Multiple "Now Playing" Queues
« on: February 24, 2018, 12:52:10 PM »
If you listen to an audio book or podcast, then you take a break, listen to some music and after that you want to resume your book. But the book queue is gone and you have to find the exact position again where you paused the last time. This would be easier with the option to open multiple tabs of "now playing" queues and to restart the playback at the exact position of a book where you left it.

MusicBee Wishlist / Exclude songs from scrobbling by attribute/tag
« on: July 08, 2017, 02:56:04 AM »
We have the option to exclude songs from scrobbling to Last.fm by setting folders on a blacklist and exclude podcasts. If your collection is not sorted by folders or you have more complex criteria, it would be useful to have the option to exclude files by attributes or tags. Exclusion criteria could be anything that is also used in the playist mixer, like rating, length of playtime, genre, custom tags (audiobooks, speech, vocabulary) etc.

MusicBee Wishlist / Search ss => ß and o => ō
« on: May 22, 2017, 07:32:37 AM »
The letters "ss" are very common in German to replace "ß" (older & rare variant is "sz"), so it makes sense to add this to the search function. Also I would like to find "ō" by typing "o". Maybe there are more characters like that, but that's what I recently found.

Bug Reports / Editing tags of playing songs in playlist v. 3.1.6320
« on: May 22, 2017, 07:18:59 AM »
When I play a song and try to edit the tags while it is in the playlist, it appears to set back to the previous value after saving. I play the song, I open the tag editor from playlist, then I add a tag, I click save and the tag field appears to set back to blank. But if I open the tag editor from the library area, I see the saved value.

MusicBee Wishlist / Tag/Keyword syncing with Last.fm
« on: April 24, 2017, 02:48:57 PM »
The user tags on Last.fm are back, so we can finally see our own tags again. MB has a function to download keywords from Last.fm song pages. I think it would be a good idea if we could upload our tags from the MB library to Last.fm as well.

Questions / Disc Title Number vs. Disc Number?
« on: April 22, 2017, 09:59:16 AM »
When I use the auto-tagger to tag from file name, I have the options to use "disc title number", "disc number" and "title number". Correct me if I'm wrong, I suppose this means for example:

Title number: The album has 30 tracks, so 30 possible numbers.
Disc Number: When an album has 3 discs, you use 1, 2 or 3.
Disc Title Number: If every disc of the 30 track album has 10 tracks, you would have 1-10 numbers per disc.

Questions / Radio Algorithms For Local Music Library
« on: February 02, 2017, 03:28:00 AM »
I'd like to get an entertaining radio stream from my local music library. Just to listen along and without need of interaction. It should be based on universal rules which don't involve specific genres, because it should be applicable to everyone's library.

I have so far set up some auto playlists:

* Loved & Highest Rating
* Play count < 2
* Never listened before
* Lowest rating
* Unrated
* Last listened before 3 months & high rating
* Last listened before 3 months & low rating

These playlists I have combined with the playlist mixer to one radio station and gave them a numeric balancing. I basically want to find new & forgotten songs, review some old ratings, I don't want to get bored by always the same or lots of bad songs, I also want a lot of good songs. How could I improve this, do you use a similar system or have some other filter rules?

A useful function would be to tell the playlist or AutoDJ for example, when I skip 3 songs of a special genre or tag in a row, to prefer another tag for the next 10 songs. Basically the player would have a function to record my current listening behaviour and react in a programmable way. Other example: Today I'm more open to new songs, so I skip 3 of my most played songs in a row. The reaction could be to prefer songs with a low play count for a while. This would make the listening experience more interesting and a nice way to improve playlist mixes or the personal radio stream.

MusicBee Wishlist / Override rules in playlist mixer
« on: November 23, 2016, 02:46:17 PM »
I have set up a couple of rules in playlist mixer. Now I want to exclude a specific genre (e.g. podcasts) from the whole set up. To get this done I would have to define this exclusion criterium in every single rule of the playlist mixer, right? With a checkbox in the mixer to override other rules I could do this easily.

MusicBee Wishlist / Stop playlist after X / Stop marker in playlists
« on: November 16, 2016, 04:41:18 AM »
You can already let the player stop after finishing the running song. I think it would be useful to have a function to let it stop playing after a certain amount of time or tracks. This could be integrated in the menu when you rightclick on the running track. There could be a submenu for "Stop after X" with the options "Time" (enter minutes or time of day), "Running song" (which is already integrated) and "Number of tracks". Alternatively you could rightclick in the playlist and set a stop marker on a specific song.

Beyond MusicBee / Music player of the future
« on: November 15, 2016, 03:53:13 AM »
Just some general features I expect from the perfect music player. Basically I want it to become a synthesis of music management, recommendation system and personalized streaming radio right from the beginning.

Fire and forget: Just press play and it plays recommended tracks from the local library and online streaming services.

Full integration of recommendation systems: Get individual recommendations from online music recommendation systems (based on your listening stats, likes, ratings and musical attributes of favourite tracks) and use them directly in the player radio.

When the radio plays I want to be able to: save songs to playlists, rate (thumbs up/stars/numbers), tag, buy, share, download. My feedback should be used by the radio to improve recommendations.

High quality streaming in FLAC/HiFi. Always a good thing but rarely available.

Stop playing after a specified time or after a specific number of tracks.

Detailed listening statistics with analysis/evaluation.

Good filter system for the radio/AutoDJ: Filter, prefer or ban songs/artists not only based on the standard tags but also on musical attributes (like "repetitive melodic phrasing", "female lead vocalist", "minor key tonality", ...) which will be provided by music analysis projects like the Music Genome Project or AcousticBrainz.

Someting more futuristic: It should be able to detect my mood or emotional state through an interface and play me adequate songs. Because even if you like a specific death metal song, you don't necessarily want to hear it if you're in a candle light mood.

That should be enough to induce a pathological music addiction. ;) Something missing?

Questions / How to play module files
« on: August 18, 2016, 08:09:58 AM »
I have a collection of Module/Tracker music files with extensions like .mod, .rad, .s3m, .sc68, .it and .xm. Many of them are playable with VLC player, but I can't get them to work in MB. Is there a plugin or decoder for this?

Questions / Automated love if rating is > n stars
« on: August 06, 2016, 09:07:57 AM »
Is there a way to give a song automatically a last.fm heart/love when I rate it with > 3 stars, or ban it when it has < 1 stars?

Questions / Using external recommendation services in MB-Player?
« on: July 12, 2016, 06:20:53 PM »
Is there any way to use recommended songs from sources like Last.fm/Pandora/Spotify directly in the MB-player? Would be pretty handy to get recommendations and be able to rate/sort/add them to your library instantly.
