Questions / Verification failed after attempting to save the file
« on: October 31, 2019, 07:03:11 PM »
I have a .WebM file with Opus audio that I demux with Xmedia Recode to .ogg for better tagging and device support.

It plays fine in MusicBee, but when I try to edit the tags I get this error. The file is not read only.

* Well I ended up just demuxing to Opus. Now MusicBee doesn't have a problem. Though if I rate the track and then rescan it, the rating disappears. Not sure if that's to do with Opus tag support or MusicBee.

I don't see a way to do this? In the "Music" view, you can change all of this, but in Music Explorer you cannot. What is the reason for this? I really like this feature when I sort by genre. Without it, I have to click on each artist, then each album. I'd rather see all the album covers at once.

I actually don't understand the point even having the "Music" tab. Music Explorer shows Top Tracks which can be toggled on or off. It also shows genres, years, similar artists, etc all in the main panel.

Maybe it can but I am doing it wrong? What I want is to press Auto DJ and have shuffle 5 tracks from say The Beatles, then the next 5 will be from Coltrane, then Swans, etc. Right now if I press Auto DJ with my current settings, it will play 5 from one artist, then the next artist will just keep playing indefinitely after 5 in a row.

settings:
initial size list = 5
maintain 5 upcoming tracks
/same artist preferred each track
gap before the same artist can repeat = 5

I am really struggling with Single FLAC files in MusicBee... When I play a song and it finishes, the song is given the correct +1 play in "Top Tracks" in Music Explorer view. When I restart MusicBee however and check the artist's tab again it shows either 1 of 2 things. It will show +1 to every track on the album, even though I only played one song. Or it will say 0 for the track that was played. If it says 0, this seems to be a visual bug and restarting MusicBee, clicking to another album artist tab, then back to the one with play seems to correct this.

To add to this issue, I organized my Single FLAC albums into folders using the computer file explorer feature built into MusicBee. I did not use the File Organizer because last time I used it with a Single FLAC it wiped my play counts. All I did this time was make an artist folder and dragged all the albums inside it. No renaming of anything. Sadly, I once again lost all my play counts for every Single FLAC album.  :( I also lost my track ratings.

foobar2000 does not seem to have any problems recording play counts for a Single FLAC + cuesheet. You can actually manually add play counts to the individual tracks split by the cuesheet. Unfortunately you can't do this in MusicBee with a Single FLAC or I could fix my play counts, though the played date would be n/a now.

Is this possible? I still have my old MusicBee settings saved from my computer that died. If possible I would like to merge play counts and play history over. I have over 3 years of tracked information since I switched over from foobar2000.

Questions / Edit play count for single flac album
« on: March 22, 2018, 01:04:48 AM »
When you edit the properties of a song from a single flac album it highlights the entire album. The play count shown in the properties windows will be the total plays from every song off the album, not individual tracks. I had to remove some albums to fix a bug so I wanted to manually add plays back but this is not possible.

I know in foobar2000 you can edit the play count of any track from a single flac album. Would this be possible in MusicBee? Or maybe there is a settings file with all the play counts? In music explorer view it shows the top tracks, so it must be storing that information somewhere.

Questions / Copying music to Android SD card messes up tags
« on: March 14, 2018, 08:08:37 PM »
When copying albums to my Android's SD card the tags get messed up. Not every album does this, but the ones that are effected usually get the genre tag or album title mixed up. If I edit the tags on the phone through MusicBee it says the file is updated but nothing actually changes. First image is from the SD card, second is from my computer.

Questions / Embedding artwork into single FLAC file breaks the tags
« on: September 24, 2017, 06:26:22 AM »
I don't know what I did? I listened to the first two tracks no problem and while track 3 was starting I was changing the rating on track 2. Then all the of the tracks renamed themselves to the artist name. I did a file rescan, but now it's "unknown album", the only track is the artists name, 1 song in the play queue, no ratings, only one song plays... It's a single FLAC with a cue file. I have never seen this problem before..? I thought it was a bug because I was using a beta version, but I updated and the album is still broken.

Updated to MusicBee 3.1.6388 last week. I don't remember if "store ratings in music file" was on in previous versions, but I am going to say yes, because looking at my files in explorer they all have yellow stars that match to the MusicBee rating. Today I changed a few ratings on tracks and noticed the date modified changed.

Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Questions / Lost artist total play count
« on: July 01, 2017, 06:39:31 AM »
I really like all the visual changes made in version 3.0+. Some how the other day I pressed a button and lost the artist total play count window. I sort by album artist and then by albums in the main panel. To the right of the album covers was a window showing the artist's total play count. I upgraded to the newest beta but it didn't solve the issue. I was looking around in the customize panels but I can't get that window back.

Questions / Music Explorer view only shows single FLAC file
« on: December 15, 2016, 09:41:39 PM »
I have been using the Music Explorer view since I updated.  I noticed when finding an album that is a single FLAC file, it shows just that.  Example Neil Young's album "After the Gold Rush" shows 1 track 35:13 in length.  If I search this album or just search "Neil Young" it will show all the tracks split.

How can I fix this in Music Explorer?

I am going through my albums and reorganizing their folders.  At the same time I am making sure everything is tagged properly.

I have come across this problem where MusicBrainz says the titles are wrong, marking them in red, but they are not.  If you see track 4 in my screenshot, they are identical.  As a test, I renamed the track title, saved, then typed the original name again, and saved.  I auto-tagged after that and it still shows red.  Why?

Also I noticed a lot of albums on MusicBrainz have ' as  .  This is extremely annoying.  Why is it like this?

Questions / Cuesheet does not update (single FLAC file)
« on: November 24, 2016, 07:47:09 PM »
I don't know if this is a bug, but every time I have tried to edit the Cuesheet in MusicBee, the file information resets.  So I always have to do it manually by going to the .cue file in windows explorer, make my changes, save, and then re-add the files to MusicBee.

I am trying to edit the Cuesheet of my Beastie Boys album.  Say I change a track title in Edit Cuesheet and hit update - it looks like it update properly.  Once I rescan the files in the library though, the track goes back to it's old name.  In the cuesheet it says "FILE "CDImage.wav" WAVE".  That is not what the .cue file is called.  So I put in "FILE Beastie Boys Licensed to Ill.flac" WAVE".  I hit update and it looks to work.  Hit rescan, all goes back to the old information.

Is this a bug?

Questions / Single FLAC album doesn't show on "recently played"
« on: September 16, 2016, 04:30:26 AM »
I just noticed that all of my FLAC albums that are a single file + CUE do not show in MusicBee's "recently played" playlist.  Is MusicBee not able to tell which track has been played because it's a single file?  The individual tracks show the playcount when I search the album, but when right-clicking it selects the whole album and shows play count 0 - last played unknown under properties.

When moving an item from the inbox to your library, the 'Date Added' changes.  Is this intended?
