The issue is that every so often MusicBee will not recognize my phone. The last time it did this was in March of this year (2023) and I even created a topic for it but no one looked into it. Here is the topic, that resolved itself somehow and MusicBee finally recognized my phone, but this time it didn't and it created a second device with the exact same name. I eventually gave in and had to go through to remember all my settings and then back and forth to make sure I synced the same playlists. I then hit sync and it's been syncing for like 15 mins and it's only 10% done. This is going to take all night and I have to get to bed soon for work tomorrow.
Is there any fix for this or a way to force it to recognize my phone, or maybe there is a way to merge the two devices so it has all the relevant data?

Right now I am not even sure if it is duplicating all the same files that are already on my phone as it has done that before.

EDIT: I figured out why it was taking so long to sync, it was because it reset to sync all music instead of just the playlists. That was the first setting I changed then started adding the playlists. It somehow changed back after I started selecting playlists and checking my other settings.

I was using Wifi Sync all the time but about 5 months ago it stopped working. When I try to sync it takes me to the folder selection and if I select the Music folder I get a message saying "Can't use this folder".

My computer is running Windows 11 pro.
My phone is a Galaxy Note 10+ on Android 12.
I am currently on MusicBee version 3.4.7805. I am about to update to the latest version.

Note that this may or may not be related to my other issue of MusicBee not recognizing my phone.

Every so often when I connect my phone directly to my PC MusicBee will not recognize the phone and instead create a new device. I was originally just going through the motions and changing all my settings and allowing it to start the re-download process (it doesn't redownload the songs and playlists on my phone when it finds the files), but it's getting annoying.
It does this every so often even though I am using the same phone. In fact, about two weeks ago, I added some songs to a few playlists and it had no trouble syncing. Last night I connected my phone after creating a new playlist for work and instead of recognizing the phone it created a new device and now I need to go through the whole process again.
So I ask again is there a way to force MusicBee to recognize my phone as the same device that has been connected before so I do not have to go through and change all my preferred settings?
Is there also a way to keep this from happening every few months?

My computer is running Windows 11 pro.

I have a second issue (with the wifi sync) that I will create another topic for.

I ask this specifically because my car's system (Uconnect on a 2012 Chrysler 300) doesn't have Android auto on it and although Bluetooth connection works fine it never shows what is playing or any other info.
When I asked this question on a forum for my car one person said he can see some song titles and other info, but only for a few songs here and there. He believes it has something to do with the file format.
Does anyone know if using a different format would help have the data show up on my car screen?

Questions / MusicBee unable to locate tracks in a restored library.
« on: June 29, 2021, 06:51:46 PM »
I recently had to reload windows and in the process I backed up all my music and playlists. After restoring musicbee claims it is unable to find the music in the playlists. The music is there and I can do a "locate" for each song but that would take days.

How do I set it to look in the right spot for the music files?

Portable Devices / Empty playlists from wired and wifi sync
« on: November 01, 2020, 04:32:30 PM »
The reverse sync now skips auto-playlists and if you haven't updated musicbee.exe since I made the comment about the 90 minute buffer then that would explain the file modification time not working

https://getmusicbee.com/patches/MusicBee34_Patched.zip
i will have a look at the other issues later

edit:
i can reproduce the unexpected characters in the filenames when using android 10 and should be able to fix that

What am I missing here?

It seems others are having difficulties with reverse sync whereas I can't seem to even get wired sync for playlists to work with or with out wifi syncing on Android.

Portable Devices / WiFi Sync not working again.
« on: April 11, 2020, 05:52:13 AM »
This is the same exact issue I had before after getting an update to Android 10. Then another update fixed it and it worked fine. I got yet another Android update around the middle of March and now my sync does not work anymore.
I cleared the cache and data and even reinstalled the app to no avail. I wonder if it is the same thing as to why it wouldn't work before.

Could you please check this out?

I reported this issue a while back but when the next Android update came out it started syncing just fine again.

I recently starting having playlist syncing issues again. It will sync the individual songs just fine but it will not sync the playlists, they show up but have 0 (zero) songs in them. I have this issue with both wired and wifi sync. I am using the phone's storage (Galaxy Note 10 Plus) with the latest update. The last update was done on March 18th and this is the first time since then I tried syncing new playlists.

Questions / How do I get the explorer window on the left panel back?
« on: March 14, 2020, 07:27:26 AM »
Everything is fine on my desktop but for some reason the layout for MusicBee on my laptop has changed. I no longer have the explorer section on the left side of the screen where it shows all my playlists first then has the computer folders with all the music folders. In fact I can no longer access any of my playlists because I can't find them. When I click on the menu bar where it says "playlists" only the last song I played shows up. So how do I get all that back? I was thinking about reinstalling MusicBee but from what I remember that explorer section was hard to bring up on my laptop in the first place.

I have a Note 10 + and I had the Wifi sync app to easily sync files onto my phone. Note that I put all my music files on my SD card so that when changing phones all I need to do is move the SD card.

A few days ago the Wifi sync stopped working correctly, it would start the sync then say it was completed but no new files were getting transferred. I even deleted a playlist and started the sync. The playlist showed up but with no tracks in it. I then tried syncing it a few more times and it still would not sync the tracks. I then tried a hardwired connection. For some reason it kept telling me my phone was unresponsive and it was unable to sync any tracks. Then I noticed that my phone was listed twice in the "devices" tab so I re-established all the syncing options and had to get some sleep.

Today I went to sync it and it sort of worked, except this time it copied every song over again to the SD card so every track was duplicated and it filled up my SD card. The only way to correct the issue was to completely delete all the music files on my phone and re-sync everything, so far it seems to be working and is currently at 88%.

It finished syncing but now I am having an issue where it isn't copying the playlists correctly. Every playlist shows up but they are listed with "0" (zero) tracks. I deleted all the playlists (but not the actual music tracks) on the SD card am currently trying to re-sync but it seems to be taking much longer than before.

I just received my new phone (Note 10+) and this is the first phone I have ever owned that did not come with a USB A connector type on one end of the charging/data cable. The charging/data cable that came with the phone has USB C connectors at both ends. It does come with a USB C to USB A female adapter but not a male one, which is what I need. I also do not have any USB A to USB A cables.

I was able to connect my phone to my PC using Bluetooth tethering but apparently MusicBee does not support Bluetooth tethering for transfer of music files.

Is there a plug in for MusicBee for this or could something like this be in the works?

MusicBee Wishlist / Skill/App for Alexa
« on: September 18, 2018, 03:52:54 AM »
I'm not sure if it's been asked yet but what about a skill for the Amazon Echo?  It would be awesome if we could connect our MusicBee app to Alexa and play the music through Alexa. There is already a skill that connects to your music library but it is poor at determining what a playlist is and doesn't always pick up all the songs on the playlists it does detect.

Questions / Issue with exporting playlists to my laptop
« on: January 08, 2017, 05:00:07 PM »
I have all my music on my home computer and just recently set up my home stereo out in the living room and added the Logitech Bluetooth receiver. Unfortunately I have been unable to establish a good enough connection to play music from my PC to as the distance is to great. Alternatively I decided to use my laptop of which I have it set up to sync my music over to the laptop. After discovering I had to set it up to locate the playlists from the transfer I discovered that each and every song on all my playlists are directed directly to the drive on my PC. My music folder on my PC is located on my D drive as my C drive is only a 256gb SSD and can not handle all my music files of about 130gb by itself. Whereas my laptop only has a single 1tb drive.

The only current way for me to be able to use my playlists is to go through and find each and every song in the list, of which there are 50+ playslists and some of those have more than a few hundred songs on them.

Is there anyway to get musicbee to locate all the songs automatically on my laptop so I do not have to go through and do each one individually?

I have been having issues with my Sound Blaster Zx sound card and I have been working with Creative Labs Tech support on this issue. After weeks (or months) of troubleshooting the conclusion they have come to is that it is a software problem and they believe that MusicBee is the source of the conflict. I do not agree with this. This issue (described below) showed up only a few months ago and I have been using MusicBee for well over a year now and I have had the card even longer. I also have this same issue when using either Windows Media Player or the Amazon player along with when I play any audio on my system be it YouTube or some other source online.

My issue: In my sound panel I have two output options in the playback tab for the sound card. They are SPDIF-Out and Speakers (both for the Sound Blaster Z). I use the optical out and have since I got this sound card. To use the SB Pro encoders (Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect) I need to have the default set to Speakers, but whenever I use the Speakers playback device I get this intermittent pop/crack sound, and if I turn on either of the encoders the pop/crack becomes more frequent and more defined. I do not get the pop/crack sound when using the SPDIF-out, but the SB Pro Studio encoders are not available.

FYI it was my thoughts to them was that it is a software/driver issue and they are going with that. I need to tell them something that supports what I believe and that it is not MusicBee but some other issue. Something technical, but not to much so because I think they might not understand it if it is to technical....
Unless you all think it could be MusicBee. FYI I am running the non beta release 2.5.5721 of MusicBee.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

On another note if you have a good (non Creative Labs) sound card recommendation that has SPDIF out and a great SNR of 120db or higher at a comparable price of less than $100 please let me know.......

Bug Reports / What does this error mean?
« on: January 28, 2016, 05:01:58 AM »
I have been having problems with my Zx sound card and a pop/crack and whenever I enable my encoders it would get worse. I had uninstalled and completely removed the software and was working off my onboard sound (which is pretty good but not as good as the Zx card). On the advice from the Creative Labs tech I reinstalled everything and disabled this Avnex virtual sound device along with any other audio output device in my sound control panel along with going down to a 16 bit depth for audio. I played some music and it all seemed to go fine, no pop/crack, so I decided to enable some of my decoders. I got no sound whatsoever coming from my system. When I tried to play some music in MusicBee I got this error: (error=BASS_ERROR_BUFLOST), but when I disable my decoders the sound works fine.
I also tried playing music in two other programs:
In my Amazon Music App I get "Another device is preventing Amazon Music from Playing Music to your audio output device".
In Windows Media Player I get "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and will now close".

I also just did an update and I think windows is preventing the encoder features from working. The reason I think this is because before I would occasionally get a windows warning asking to disable the enhanced features of my sound card because it is causing issues.

Again the error I get in MusciBee is: (error=BASS_ERROR_BUFLOST)

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
