Hello everybody!  :)

Hopefully, I am not the entire outlier as far as this request is concerned. Namely, I am looking for a quick and easy way to get external playlists into MusicBee. This is being said with proper acknowledgement to the developer that providing the support for such a feature might not be at all so "quick and easy".

What I am asking for to be considered, please, is a drag-and-drop action, or perhaps another, more suitable method to apply to get external playlists imported into MusicBee "Playlists" (GUI, left panel). (Screenshot).

Some backdrop is found at this post: How to import m3u-playlists directly into MusicBee?

As an alternative to drag-and-drop, or possibly in addition to it, please consider adding support for another method to import external playlist into MusicBee "Playlists", such as, for e.g., right-clicking on a premade folder to evoke the context menu through which to "Import Playlists". I realise this is a crude layout, but it's just a general idea to start with.

Thank you!

Questions / How to import m3u-playlists directly into MusicBee?
« on: July 23, 2023, 02:25:25 PM »
Ref: MusicBee v3.5.8604 Portable, Windows 7 PC

Hello Everyone,

I put my playlists in a structured folder-tree under the header Playlists, located in the Left Sidebar.

The default playlist extensions, MBP and M3U (Preference > Library > playlist), are kept.

If possible to effect, how can I import any number of M3U playlists directly into any of the aforesaid playlist folders? I did apply the solution that was previously offered over here, but eventually, after numerous efforts, MusicBee would still not locate the tracks to play. The identical playlists would play fine if they were opened into the player from another source, and could be added, as usual, to the playlist folders from there.

Thank you for any tips you may have.

MusicBee 3.5.8447

Hello everyone,

Bar copying and pasting, is there perhaps another method available with which to quickly sort the "External Applications" listed under "Tools"?

If not, please see whether you agree that the current sorting method deployed for "Set Toolbar Buttons", could be fruitfully deployed in MusicBee. The latter sorting method works a charm. Alternatively, please consider moving a list entry by dragging it from its current position and then dropping it into its new position.

Thank you.

Questions / Identifying Different File Formats at a Glance?
« on: December 29, 2020, 12:47:26 PM »
Although I keep two separate libraries, one in a single lossy format and another in a single lossless format, I have now also combined them into a third. From this, flows the question: Is it perhaps possible to identify, at a glance, the different file formats of any number of tracks on display in MusicBee? For instance, an identifying mark, or colour?

Thank you, and best wishes to every single one of you for 2021, and beyond.

Questions / 'Send to Clipboard' Tags ♦ Sequential Numbering?
« on: November 20, 2020, 12:01:52 PM »
Hi Everybody,

At the moment, I 'Send to Clipboard' tags in the format "<Title> - <Artist>". I would like to be able to add a sequential number to each track to receive the following result:

01. Title - Artist
02. Title - Artist
03. Title - Artist
etc.

I assume this can be done using a custom-field, but I do not know how to. Could you please help?

Thank you.

Questions / How to Share Playlists Between Libraries?
« on: May 12, 2019, 03:29:54 PM »
Hello Everyone  :)

If it is possible to do, how does one share, and synchronise, playlists between libraries?

I maintain two libraries— one for lossy, and one for lossless music files. Numerous playlists, both lossy and lossless, currently reside inside the library of lossy files, but I would like to mirror these playlists in the lossless library too, and maintain them as such.

Thank you.

Bug Reports / MusicBee v3.2 Takes a Long Time to Close
« on: January 27, 2018, 06:34:33 PM »
I have tested and compared MB v3.2 (2018.01.27) and 3.1 (2018.01.25):

Whereas v3.1 will close instantaneously, v3.2 will take 30 seconds or longer.

I have been using v3.2 for some time without any problem, but this problem appeared a few iterations ago- unfortunately I did not take note of which one it was exactly.

Uncertain what I did, but my Now Playing List (located in the Right Sidebar) entries disappeared. Lyrics tab is still there. During the process of trying to restore the layout of the Now Playing list, MusicBee flagged this error for me to report here:

Thank you for any, and all, advice you can give.

If someone could help me, please? I find it impossible to Auto-Tag by Album, when its tracks are loaded in the Playlist. The Auto-Tag tab is inaccessible in the tag panel. Is this perhaps by design?

Hello everyone :)

Sometime ago, I exported a number of playlists- two of which are displayed under the heading "Exported" in the Playlist Explorer. Since then, I have split the MusicBee Music Library into several separate ones. Now, I am unable to delete any one of the two exported playlists. Even though neither one of the two lists is populated, upon deletion MusicBee flags an error, which reads: "The selected folder is not empty and cannot be deleted". I am quite certain that this result is all of my own doing, but could one of you perhaps please point out how to fix this?

Thank you.

MusicBee Wishlist / About Managing Playlists...
« on: April 05, 2017, 05:13:40 PM »
Hi everyone :)

I hope that you too, as am I, are very happy that Steven has kick-started the development of a broken-playlist fixer. Refer to the links here:

Fixing Broken Playlists

Re-Locate missing files for whole albums / multi files

While the stand-alone application ListFix() has worked perfectly well to fix my broken playlists over the years, I can only begin to imagine the benefits should something of a similar nature be integrated with MusicBee.

I think the following additions will nicely extend the functions of a broken broken-playlist fixer:

1. Select, and then merge, any number of playlists via a context menu.

2. Help MusicBee relocate missing playlist files by pointing it to the folders/directories where it is most likely to find it now.

3. Provide a playlist option that allows MusicBee to search for, and replace, current playlist entries with ones at an incrementally higher bit rate.

4. Option to have MusicBee gravitate all dead links to the top of the playlist upon opening.

Thank you.

Questions / Radio Stations Disappeared • MusicBee v3.1.6293
« on: March 26, 2017, 08:24:31 AM »
Hi everyone  :)

My list of radio stations disappeared. It is hard to pinpoint an event, or time, to it. My guess is it disappeared after splitting my Music Library. I have read in elsewhere on the forum that the radio stations are stored in the main library file: "musicBeeLibrary.mbl". This file is located in each of the new libraries.

How do I retrieve the lost list of radio stations?

MusicBee Wishlist / Copy to Folder • Remember the Last Folder Used
« on: September 04, 2016, 11:22:22 AM »
I often use the Copy to Folder function to copy the file-content of my numerous playlists to folders on another drive. During repetitive use of this function, the user has to browse for the destination folder afresh every time. Would you please consider adding an option that allow for MusicBee to remember the last folder used?

Thank you for your consideration.

MusicBee Wishlist / Fixing Broken Playlists ( a Little at a Time?)
« on: August 18, 2016, 09:56:29 AM »
This subject has come up in the past, and I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a form of integral playlist fixer to feature in a future iteration of MusicBee. Should such a feature not be under consideration, please consider a "quick-fix" option where right-clicking on a single (or more?) broken/missing playlist track produces in the context menu an option to "Find Closest Matches" or similar. From the search results the replacement track is chosen and replaces the broken one.

Thank you.
