There are a few ways to do this, but the easiest is to use the "Album Artist" tag. I have all of my compilations listed under "Various Artists," which tells MusicBee to associate tracks from the same album even if the "Arist" tags are different.

The only way this would be a problem is if I had more than one compilation album with the same album title - an exceedingly unlikely case, and easy to fix in any event.

Thanks Steven! Looks fine now. :)

I'm having a small graphical glitch after installing today's 2.4 Beta. I'm assuming it's related to this issue. All of my scaling options in Windows are set to 100%.

This could be the fault of the skin I'm using (LightMetro). If so, I'll repost in the skin thread.

Instead of "Queue Next," use "Queue Last." It will do exactly this.

The more I use this feature, the more I like it. Thank you Steven.

Maybe a possibility for future versions could be the incorporation of the sub-grouping header from the 'Album and Tracks' view.

I'm going to second this request. If you could manage it, it would make this view even more fantastic. Here's hoping! Thanks Steven.
Thirded. :) This has become the best way to view album information in a "rich" presentation, and sub-groupings really belong here.

This is an excellent skin. I'm a big fan of DarkRED, and this is a great complement to the original set. :)

Two points of feedback:
- The section borders in the Album & Tracks view are a little too dark compared to the text.
- The text inside a selected item (and the number badges in the sidebar) is a little hard to read with the Cyan color. I'd suggest changing the inner text to a white or light-gray color, if that's possible.

Thanks very much for your work.

EDIT: Just one other little thing. In the Artwork view, inline rating stars have a dark background color (rather than the light color used in Album & Tracks).

Love the new "expanded" Album view. The solid colors work well with DarkRED.

Questions / Re: Help needed with Now Playing List
« on: March 02, 2014, 08:15:10 PM »
Instead of toggling "Shuffle" on, you can do this: add all of the songs that you want on the Now Playing list, then right-click and select "List" > "Shuffle List." This is a one-time action that will shuffle the list into a random order and then keep that order, so you can see the entire sequence.

Hope this helps. :)

Questions / Re: Computer capacity,

If all you're doing is playing and organizing music, your hardware needs will be pretty minimal. To be on the safe side, I'd look for a dual-core processor in the range of 1.7-2.0 GHz - maybe a little more if you want to output audio, e.g. to an entertainment system. (Even my USB headphones have caused cheaper laptops to skip a bit.) An Intel Core i3 or i5 would do the job.

As for memory, 2 GB (which is pretty standard for laptops) should do fine. Don't bother with any fancy graphics cards, and get the smallest screen that you're comfortable using - it will keep the price down. In other circumstances, I would suggest an SSD, but if you're dealing primarily with FLAC files, you'll be better off with a traditional hard drive.

FLAC is a "lossless" audio format, which means the files are quite big. In my anecdotal experience, they tend to be 30-40 MB per 5 minutes of audio, but someone else can probably give you a better rule of thumb.

(Also - you say you're "going from MP3 to FLAC." You probably already know this, but just in case, you shouldn't convert an MP3 directly to FLAC. All you'll get is a bigger file with no meaningful difference in quality. FLACs should be created from the original CD or WAV files.)

The square corners actually make a big difference. Thanks for doing that. No other bugs to report, so for now I'm just going to bask in the glory. :)

Which one do you prefer? This version or the original with a uniform background?
I like this version, and I would use it over the original.

This is a beautiful skin. Especially with the font you recommended. Excellent work, and thank you. :)

Would you be interested in making a slight variation without the rounded border? Here's an example. (I literally just removed the border.)

Edit: I also noticed a tiny bug: when ratings are displayed in the Artwork view, the stars are still yellow, rather than gray.

Seriously, gorgeous skin. I might use this to get some of my friends off iTunes at last.

MusicBee Wishlist / Toggle Toolbar Buttons
« on: February 17, 2014, 03:19:29 PM »
This is a small and unimportant thing, but someday, it would be nice if you could toggle the custom toolbar buttons that you've set up. That way, you could clean up the main interface without losing the order and settings of your buttons for the future.

A quick mockup:
