Questions / Re: Ripping seems to ignore speed settings

If running the drive at maximum speed increases errors, then throttling it back is not useless.

Questions / Ripping seems to ignore speed settings
« on: March 01, 2022, 10:39:30 PM »
When I RIP a CD with MusicBee, it doesn't seem to observe the speed setting in the source settings. Right now I have mine set to 4X, and it's ripping at 14X. I usually prefer to not run the drive at maximum speed, just to give the hardware and encoder a little breathing room.

Am I missing something? How do I get the speed setting to stick?

Thanks in advance.

Questions / Re: Soundtrack titles/pictures will illegal characters in name

I listen to a lot of soundtracks, so I will probably add backdrops as I listen to albums for the first time in MusicBee.

I do already have a large folder of pictures from movies and shows that I use for desktop pictures, but most of them were just collected over the years from various sources.

I've hit this website for screen caps quite a lot in the last few days, it seems to have some pretty good stuff:

Try this for now...in place of the illegal character, insert an empty space.
So if you have an album named Tron: Legacy, use Tron  Legacy for your filenames and see if MB picks up the images.

That suggestion did indeed work, thank you very much!

And how did you know I was listening to Tron: Legacy when the issue popped up? ;D

Questions / Soundtrack titles/pictures will illegal characters in name

After playing around and doing some reading, I finally figured out how to have specific pictures for soundtracks to appear in the "Now Playing" tab. One minor hangup, though.

I have a lot of soundtrack titles that have a colon ":" in the title. Yet I can't have a picture in the Soundtrack Pictures folder with a matching filename, because you can't use a colon in a filename.

Is there a workaround? Is there a different tag I can put the windows-approved filename and have it use that to match the picture?

Or do I just need to clean up all my soundtrack titles with forbidden characters and be done with it?

Thanks in advance!

I never thought this day would come.... I've finally found an app that looks and operates like iTunes... but before iTunes started to suck so very very badly. I never moved past version 10, because I simply couldn't abide the changes to the interface and the eventual loss of the column browser. But as with all things Apple, they either find ways to force you to upgrade, or find way to make it stop working entirely.

I've tried a ton of other apps, but they all seemed too complicated, too expensive, or were just flat out ugly.

I don't know why it took me so long to stumble across MusicBee... but it's just what I was looking for! And with the "classic iTunes skin", I finally have a modern, supported app, that just PLAYS MY MUSIC and lets me sort things THE WAY I WANT TO.

I had almost given up hope.
