Questions / Re: Check all playlists in one go

The random loss of files in the playlist isn't due to moving them around in folders, once they are in the folders, that's where they stay. It's just very odd why that should occur.

That sounds like a good workaround to the problem. Thanks i'll give it a try.

What's the path to your MB installation?
What's the path to your music files?
What's the path to your playlist files?

What frankz said is solid. If the music file is in your library (and its location hasn't moved) then it -has- to be correct in the playlist file. Are you perhaps doing something with the music file and/or playlist file outside of MB?

MB Installation - D:\Music\MusicBee
Music Library -    H:\Music Library\....
Playlists -             D:\Music\MusicBee\Library\

Only playing music through MB.

If your playlists are randomly spontaneously changing the paths to your files, that seems like the more urgent problem to solve.  That's not normal.

What format are these playlists (ex. M3U, MPL, etc) and what are you doing when these changes occur?  Are you on a Windows machine or running in some sort of Windows emulation?

I guess your version of musicbee from Help->About (including any letters) could be useful, too.

This has been happening for many years (since i started using MusicBee) on different Windows PC's. I just happens from time to time. I can have a playlist of say 100 songs and maybe 3 or 4 may have lost the path.
Playists are M3U.
MusicBee version: 3.5.8447 P

I have about 50 playlists. I would just like a way to quickly scan all playlists for missing tracks.

Perhaps i have a unique issue with the playlists.
What is happening is from time to time various tracks in my playlists losing their path to the track which exists in the main library.
e.g
"D:/Music Library/David Bowie/Singles/Life on Mars.flac"
in the playlist will have changed to this for some reason
"D:/Life on Mars.flac"

So the original track is still there but the playlist can't find it due to the path has changed.
I think this is why your solution dosen't work.

Is there a way to check all playlists in one go for missing files?
At present it is cumbersome to select a playlist then 'locate missing files' from the tools menu.

thanks in advance

Questions / Re: Cache Location
« on: January 03, 2022, 04:02:49 PM »
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I did follow the steps exactly as above. When restarting musicbee it created 2 locations for the internal cache on the C drive.
One in AppData\roaming.. (which is where the target shows as D drive now as i required) but when restarting it created another in AppData\Local... for some reason.

Anyway, i've now installed the portable version.

Questions / Re: Cache Location

I have upgraded to Windows 11 and a new SSD drive. The issue has arisen that the internal cache file is on the SSD and is taking up space. Following the steps above i attempted to move the cache to the D drive. However it has recreated itself on the C drive again when restarting MB.

Is there any other way to move the cache to another drive?
