Actually now I do recall this coming up previously and thought I had done something about it but seems not. There is a limit on the size of flac tags of 16MB. If the picture has to be embedded then it would need to be resized.
I dont think MB should do that behind the scenes so I just put in validation so it fails before attempting to write tags

All I can tell you from what I've tested is that even picture as small as 4MB can trigger the problem. Also MusicBee tag editor and Mp3Tag failed to remove the embedded picture in the FLAC. AudioShell is able to remove it completely. However after removing the picture when I try to access the file within MusicBee library, I get the following error "The source file for track "TrackName" could not be found.
After relocating the file the ratings are gone though.

Hopefully you'll be able to find a way in the future to either prevent the issue when using the Send To - Replace or to cleanly remove embedded picture with the tag editor.

On a note related to this, replacing or copying files with the "Send To..." command erases any tags MB doesn't read. So, internal tags + Custom Tags are transferred over, but anything outside those is lost.

It's not that it erases certain tags is that it corrupts the file and I found the (or one of maybe) culprit. It seems to be high resolution images that cause the issue. After spending a good hour testing things around it's only when I tried to replace files already embedded with a large resolution cover than the corruption occurred.

Now is there a way to completely erase the cover from the file ? because when I remove an embedded 8MB cover with the tag editor the file size remain the same and the metadata is still corrupted.
And more importantly, is there a way for MusicBee to handle those ultra high resolution cover or is it a limitation of Vorbis Comments format. So far from what I've tested, Album Art as big as 2048x2048 and under 1MB did not pose any issue.

I'm not saying you could not be right that perhaps something changed at the side of MusicBee that causes this for you (while I doubt that very much), but the last thing I would do is to rely on Microsoft to manage audio metadata. It's commonly known it's pretty much useless for that.
And I am also not sure why that is important to you.
Have you asked Microsoft if something regarding this has changed after one of their updates?

My Windows Explorer handle either FLAC or MP3 tags fine. The issue only arises after using the replace command of MusicBee. And it's important to me because I'm using those files in other programs (DAWs and video editing software) and browsing in those programs is done through windows explorer UI. Organizing and managing those files without tags is much more cumbersome and time consuming.
Finally I did not asked Microsoft about this since I have/had no issue with FLAC tags with any other programs. Everything works fine. It's only after using the replace command of MusicBee that the tags get corrupted.

Can you see the tags using MB's Tag Inspector?
Can you edit the tags using MB's Tag Editor?
If so, why are you trying to use Windows File Explorer to edit them?

I don't try to edit them in Windows File Explorer I was just further demonstrating the "corruption".

Tags are set to ID3V2.3 as they always been and show in Widows file explorer just fine when I simply edit them with MusicBee. It's only when I replace old MP3 files with FLAC after ripping the CDs that the tags get "corrupted" in file explorer. And this behaviour only started after I updated in December 2021 to the latest version available at the time. Everything worked as intended before.
The thing is tags seemed to be stored fine within the file as shown in MP3Tag (I downloaded and checked) it's just unreadable and uneditable by Windows after replacing the file through MusicBee.

Prior to version 3.4.8033 P when I upgraded my MP3s with FLACs and replaced the old MP3 with the Send To - Folder (Replace) option the FLAC files got updated with tags and playcount. Now everything seem fine in my MusicBee library but they appear blank in Windows 10 file explorer. The details tab in file properties menu is completely empty.

I tried to synchronise tags after the fact but it still remain blank in Windows file explorer.

Adding the ability to configure a hotkey for this action would make managing music library much easier.

Thanks for considering adding this to a future update.
